The playground is climbers oriented. My 4yo had a blast. The washrooms were cleaned. The food was good. When it comes to the water, i like Britannia beach better. There were a few weeds and the sand doesn't feel ferm under my feet. Lots of tables, and garbage area. Parking is 10$ for 5hmax.

This park is very fun for children and adults who enjoy playing with their kids! There are many different structures to climb and explore! The giant hill is a good experience to climb as well! The children ran all the way up and rolled down! Recommended to play at. This park has more of a family dynamic. Less "older teenagers" Downfall : When we went last weekend there was a bunch of garbage all over the ground around the play areas. Doesn't impede playing, but it is kind of gross and off to the sides. ALSO one of the play equipment pieces is broken. A wooden climbing structure near a big brown bear! Just watch the kids around that as well :). This was from an Easter Weekend visit.

Mooneys Bay is a great place to enjoy the waterfront all season long. With the beach swimming, volleyball in the warmer weather to x country skiing and enjoying the snow tobogganing down a hill in the winter. There are lots of bike trails that you can use to access Mooneys Bay without going onto the streets and good public transit. There is also special events like the Dragon boat festival and the annual Hope volleyball festival that brings hundreds of people to play and see awesome live music. Where I liked seeing Three Days Grace play. So check this place out and have some fun with friends and your family. If you like my reviews photos or videos give them a thumbs up and enjoy the natural beauty Ottawa has to offer.

It was our first time back in a long time. We took the kids for a family fun beach day. We didn't know the rules so I thought I'd share. The experience starts with paid parking it accepts change, credit card or by phone. (See picture) We settled in and sent the kids in to swim. We were quickly informed that kids who are 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the water. Since we didn't know that we needed change for parking and the canteen was closed (they open at 5). I went to ask one of the lifeguard supervisors if he knew where I could get change. Lucky for me he was very kind and helpful. The one thing I found confusing was the bathroom set up the womans bathroom is on the opposite side of the canteen from the men's. The signs are very confusing. We also visited the park before leaving. It is wood chips instead of sand. They have some very unique play structures. About 45 minutes was enough there for our 7-11 year Olds.

Kids love this park! Lots of different structures to play on. Lots of space for a picnic and lovely view of the water. There is steep hill the kids like to run up and down on. Beach looks clean but we haven't swam here yet. Ample parking. Overall, it makes for a fun family day and I would highly recommend bringing your kids!

This is a fantastic park and beach. There is something here for everyone. There are multiple large play structures for all ages. The beach is large, with lots of space for everyone and good water access so it doesn't feel crowded. Green space is plentiful and there are many trees for shade, even in the beach area. You can purchase snacks, ice cream, and such at a concession stand, though you'll pay a fair bit as you would expect at such a location. There are a few tables available to sit at and also plenty of green space with trees for shade nearby as well. Also note, you can fill up your water bottle here at a water fountain. Public bathrooms are available with changing facilities for the beach as well. The only issue is that there is very limited parking, which is paid, so unless you get there early in the day, you will have difficulty finding parking. Other than that, it's a fantastic place to spend an entire day with the family and friends.

Great outdoor park and beach for those looking for outdoor activities with family and friends. A little messy, and my advice to everyone to please pick after yourself. If you're not going to respect and clean the surrounding, then how else you're going to love yourself. Great swings and mini playground for kids. The sand at the beach was clean. It's a fun and lively area to spend weekends.

So lovely. Hubby and I enjoyed a wonderful workplace BBQ here. We set up the BBQ and really loved the parkland setting . Lots of space to spread out and play pick up soccer. We did set up the BBQ I an area which was not permitted for BBQ and offers came by and very nicely informed us of where to set up the BBQ for future good times. If you are going to BBQ and you bring your own equipment be sure to set it up right where they already have public BBQs as this is the safe place .

If there was a heart to Ottawa. This and the Arboretum are it. The views are spectacular at any time of the day, quite easily it's how many in Ottawa ease out of a week and relax beach side, or under the shade of the trees. The wild life contributes to the ambiance which is the heart beat of this city. Try to sit back and relax at either of these locations, the next time Canada's federal politicians decisions have you stress out. Or your work week. Promise you will find something fresh that leaves you happy every single time and if you still can't get it all off your mind try walking along the canal between both of these locations. That's something entirely different that other cities in Canada, just do not have.

The only negative is potential lack of parking spaces, however that depends on time of day. I usually go there few times during winter to enjoy some cross-country skiing.

Do not bring your dog or even a puppy there, you’ll be kicked out. My children were playing among the multiple Weed odours which is tolerated. I brought them away before they get high…

You have to prepare to go there. Washrooms ate open but not sure till what time. Evenings attract a different crowd as well. Not my favorite city beach tbh.. Best thing about it is the connecting bike paths along the river. Fantastic. The pedestrian Bridge near Carleton U should be finished by now.

Mooney's Bay Beach is a fantastic destination! The sandy shore, calm waters, and vibrant atmosphere create the perfect beach experience. Whether you're relaxing or enjoying water activities, this beach offers fun for all. Go for picnic with family, friends or loved ones.

What a blast for the kids and I! There are so many little areas within the play structures for kids with all interests. Parking was easy to access, and the walk wasn't too far. We did go super early in the season, and the kids played hooky, so we basically had the place to ourselves. Great place to go!

I really enjoy spending my time here and watching the sunset, but yesterday, I forgot to bring my safety vest. I searched all around the beach to rent a safety vest, but I couldn't find one because this beach is not supervised

It's a good place to enjoy some free time with your family. There are places to make a barbecue, picnic, kids and adults play. The parking lot is paid. $1 each 30 min. (2021). So it's preferable parking around the park.

Overall good, good connection to surrounding area, a bit too many people as of recent so not the best place if you want to keep in line with COVID regulations.

This is one of the best parks in the city. They have a beautiful beach with numerous lifeguards. There are also beautiful volleyball courts. You can visit the beach and use the public access pits to have a BBQ. They also have a snack bar and a fully licensed bar area that plays music, and you can sit and watch the sunset. Great spot for the entire family!

One of the best parks in the city. Amazing playground for the kids (there are actually 2 playgrounds in the park) and an exercise park at the south end. Generally a place for people to be very active with fitness classes taking place and people doing all kinds of sports. The only drawback is the popularity of the beach, as it can be nearly impossible to find parking on a summer weekend.

I imagine it's a nightmare in summer, but relatively quiet at the tail end of winter and a large area. Great for taking photos of gulls and ducks. There's a large beach area with washrooms and a large grass area with playground. Not a fan of how the parking lot is blocked in winter (guessing because they don't make money on it) and the washrooms are closed. Nightmare for someone on diuretics! Also for the disabled, in winter so difficult to get down to the beach with the lot being blocked off. Managed, but definitely dicey, even though the snow is melted the grass is steep and even the roads are pretty steep. Lovely view though and a really cute driftwood/cattail area all the way to the right!

Lots of beach space. Shady spots under mature trees. Life guards. Good place for paddle sports and going for walks. Very large play structures for kids. Has a big hill. Parking is not cheap. There is street parking if you don't mind a walk. Public bathrooms. Some concessions which may be closed due to covid.

A hidden gem. Many people don't seem to think about Mooney's Bay when they want to go to the beach. The water is tested frequently for e coli and other problems and Mooney's Bay is usually much cleaner than any of the Ottawa River beaches. (The day right after a heavy rainfall is the worst time for contaminated water in any of the beaches due to farm runoff) . It's shallow enough for younger kids, and there are lots of lifeguards. The sand is nice, with no rocks, and there are washrooms and change rooms and a snack bar. Summer brings dragon boat races and beach volleyball tournaments. There are enough trees that you can usually find a shady place to sit if that's what you like. Late in the season, there are weeds a little further out, but that's true in the Ottawa River beaches too. An extensive nearby playground and a cool hill/mini mountain round out the fun. Pay parking, which is often full, but easy access via bike trails. Hogsback falls and the associated park are right across the road, accessible by an underpass. Finally, there's a little pirate ship attraction/ride for the young at heart. So much goodness!

A great urban beach. Parking is very limited and paid. Bathroom facilities are well maintained. Terrific park for the kids, grassy areas for picnics and games, and nice beach area. Check water conditions before swimming.

We were tourists with a toddler looking to excite our little one. This park HAS IT ALL. Have never been to a more unique spot. Good for kids of all ages even under 2. She LOVED the balance beams, western houses, pirate ship. Will definitely return if ever back in Ottawa area.

Lovely park for kids.. Lots of playgrounds for different age groups. They have a Huge playground in the centre with lots of play structures and a couple of smaller ones as well. Great for outdoor activity with little ones… Keeps them busy hours on end :)

A decent-sized beach, with a good amount of city parking spots. There is a big play structure for kids as well. Parking stations have now been removed, meaning that parking is now free. Not sure if that is just because of covid though, so they might put it back, that's up to the city. Also, if you looking to go for a walk hogs back is right next to Mooney's bay if you cross the road leading to a bunch of paths along the falls.

Beautiful family friendly beach in the heart of the Capital. Plenty of room to play all kinds of sports including volleyball, batmenton , soccer, football etc. Great hills for the children who love to fly their kite, and plenty of green space to have a picnic. Wonderful place to spend time with your family.

Great recreational space in the heart of the city, beside the river and close to the canal. The beach, park green spaces and play structures are great. The crowning jewel is the Atheletics facility (pictured) with soccer pitches included. Lots of options to keep you active, train and watch live events.

Mooney's Bay Park is a great public park in Ottawa. The beach is beautiful and has a nice paved walkway for people walking and strollers. Mooney's Bay Park has a beach, picnic areas, and a children's playground. It's a very busy park and beach all summer long. It hosts numerous events and festivals, including the Hope Volleyball Tournament and the dragon boat races.

Although Mooneys Bay is typically associated with Summer beach weather, it's a really nice place for a sunny Fall day too.

  • 4/5 D W T. 10 months ago on Google
Good location, but the room dividers are not soundproof. I could hear the TV and chatting from the next room way into the morning. I could also hear cars on the roadway. I had to block my ears to get sleep. There was a refrigerator and coffee maker in the room. No milk packets. There was no lotion. There was a hair dryer. They are now placing larger bottles with body wash and shampoo and conditioner. I am a bit concerned about that because of safety issues. Anyone can open those bottles. It is not a good idea, although it is cost effective, this should not happen. One good thing they had free breakfast, but much variety, but it was OK.

I liked the place. It’s calm. I just don’t like the many ducks who fly to the mainland and pollute the area which people step on. But overall, the sunset is amazing. Beautiful views.

This place is beautiful at sunset. It is a privilege enjoying the view of the water and the sun. The beach is very large and spacious. There are barbeques for public usage, bring your own propane tank or charcoal just in case you want to make use of them. If you live here, this is the perfect space to spend a any summer day.

One of my favourite spots in the city. Love climbing the hill and watching kids roll down. A perfect sunny day spot to picnic with your team of hooligans. There's also a beach to play volleyball, or just relax as you watch local rowers practice their moves in the canal. A children's park, supposedly the largest in Canada, is right next to the hill.

  • 5/5 Bethany G. 3 years ago on Google

One of the best parks in Ottawa and best playgrounds for those with kids. Our family visits here often year round. The tobogganing hill was thrilling for my boys (6 and 3). In the summer, the burger shack is a perfect stop in between watching the dragon boat races during the festival.

Very clean and spacious playground. Always lots of kids. Fresh and clean air. Located far from roads. Great place for all seasons. The only thing that makes me unhappy that there is no washrooms since October. There are still lots of people coming with kids, for picnics and to exercise. I am wondering how do they keep everything inside, or maybe there is someplace that I do not know. Especially, like it shows on the pictures, families with many kids and they sit there for more than 2 hours.
