We went here for our anniversary and we enjoyed our time. Food quality was fantastic, very friendly staff, and nice atmosphere (though maybe making it not too dark would be nice)! We ordered the seafood tower with extra lobster tail, s'mores brownie dessert and cappuccino. Everything was a great bite and my wife, who rarely eats tuna sashimi enjoyed the ones here. We will definitely be back!!

The seafood tower tasted fresh and my group had a hard time deciding what was the best item. We were very impressed with every component of it. We ended up ordering a few extra dishes as we were still hungry after polishing off the Double tower - the gnocchi and lobster ravioli were perfectly cooked. Reminder to self - always order the skillet dessert. I've had a couple at Mati and they were both so decadent. The perfect way to round out the meal!

Came to Mati to celebrate my dad’s birthday and everyone loved the food! The seafood tower is a must get and has so much hot/cold variety. Scallops were probably my favorite as they were made so tender and juicy. Burrata was delicious and paired perfectly with the fresh bread. Unfortunately our first batch of bread was a bit cold but the second batch was fresh and warm. The wagyu ribeye was cooked well and tasted delicious. Glad I tried it but personally, I would probably get the normal ribeye steak next time at 1/3 the price.

The whole experience was exceptional and the food was great. Our group of 7 shared the best seafood tower we have ever had and a 50 ounce tomahawk steak. To top it off, they gave cake since we were celebrating a couple of birthdaus. Everyone left happy and raved about the whole experience.

Feb2021- We tried again. The tomahawk was alright but not the best bang for your dollar but worth the show. The calamari was ok. The gnocchi was not enjoyable. The desert was good. The shrimp was excellent and so was the salad. They need a few more side options for the steak. I bumped the stars from 3 to 4. Sept2020- I was invited to mati for dinner and figured I would give it a try to see if it improved. Dinner was fine but again I am not sure what it is but the steak is always cool. The ceaser drink is boring and the chicken plate was a little salty. The server Trish was awesome, super friendly and very attentive to us (excellent service from trish). At the end we were rushed out for the next party which I can understand but we didn't have time to finish the wine bottles and the hostess kept eye balling us and continously walking and looking. Not super happy with the ending with a 500 bill and being shown the door. The rating will remain the way it has been. The atmosphere was nice but again the food is always missing the mark. Nov2019- this time around we were 6 people. I had the salmon tuna and calamari apps. Salmon was very thin and just not tasteful and not worth it. The calamari was grilled and alright. the tuna was fine as well. The drinks were good. Ceaser, cold beer. We had rib eye steak that was cool to the touch when it came out. We also had sirloin and shrimp that was also cool and the meat was not overly tender. The seafood pasta plate was good and creamy. The lamb was not that spectacular. The food orders did not come out at the same time. The plates came out staggered and for a fancy upper class restaurant it should be better timed. There was at least 5 minutes between the first plate and the 6th plate. Overall it will be awhile before we go there again. It seems like it is not getting any better but some how the location is always busy. Many better options for approximately 100$ a head. Jan19- Well this is the second visit. I won't mention the servers name. I invited friends out to try the food. The ceaser we recieved was not good. It had a load of Worcestershire sauce on the bottom and when we mentioned it to the server the answer was all bartenders have their own way... next my guest ordered a porterhouse ($78). It came out cold too the touch and when you ate it. It was mentioned to the server and taken away. It was returned after they heated it up and added more potatoes on the plate. (I think it was microwaved) The bill did not reflect any discounts for the inconveniences but the server did provide us with 1 free desert for the table to go with the other gratuities birthday desert. Something more should have been done considering it was a 400+ bill and no manager took the time to come by to speak to us.

New Year Eve dinner at Mati! Our experience couldn’t be any better! Food was great!! Our server is super sweet and lovely, tho I didn’t get her name. We might got the manager came over for telling us Happy New Year!! They did pretty well on social distancing during this COVID time :) A little bit pricey, but definitely worth for the treat for the end of the year!! Happy New Year and Happy Holidays to all the staffs at Mati!! ❤️

It’s a crowded and poorly executed floor plan on the lower level. Three tables crammed together in front of a patio door where servers and customers are coming in and out. It was a very cold dinner experience to say the least. Thankfully our server was kind and accommodating throughout service despite having a busy section. Food was incredible. Our server and the quality of food was what saved our dinner experience. We hope to return to Mati again for a better experience nonetheless.

I came here for my birthday brunch on October 11. The staff made the start of my day perfect with everyone wishing me happy birthday and even added a personal touch on a birthday card. Great food, great staff. Very pleased to have spent my birthday at Mati.

The brunch was delicious and pure indulgence… Maple Bacon: grilled, house cured, real maple syrup, green onion… need I say more?!? • The outdoor patio beautifully set up, tasty cocktails, delicious food and friendly service. • Mati Ottawa has been a wonderful discovery. Looking forward to another great brunch.

I enjoyed Mati very well. The servers were friendly and accommodating, the drinks were nice, and the food was excellent. I personally think Mati Spritz could’ve been better, it didn’t have a strong taste. I got the Seafood Tower Double - and the flavour and quality of the food was exquisite. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, except the oysters; they were a bit too salty for us. The only disappointing part was them not practicing social distance. All tables were very close of each others, only apart by roughly less than 1m/3ft I hope they install better safety when indoor dining opens along with phase 3.

Great food and service. The owner came around to say hi and check on things which was nice. Good setting for a group, not for a romantic night. Only advice is to reserve a window seat in advance. We went just two of us and had a small table not super well placed.

The food was amazing, the seafood tower surpassed my expectations, even the cold options and the cocktails we had tasted very delicious and the in-house baked cheese cake was divine! Can't wait to try other items on the menu.

I've been to Mati several times for numerous reasons. 1. The food! Ive been for both their brunch and their dinner menus and both are sooooo good! I personally love their brunch menu a bit more, but that's just me being obsessed wit their fresh baked croissants as a starter! It comes with two freshly baked croissants along with three in house made spreads. Each one of the spreads compliment each other and are a great way to start your meal! Another great brunch option is their steak and eggs...the potatoes that comes along with it DELICIOUS! Also love the plating and overall presentation of the dish (photo below) 2. The aesthetic and ambiance of the restaurant is fantastic, very chic and trendy. It almost makes you feel like your in another time period. Highly recommend, especially for special occasions. 3. Service. What Ive noticed from the many times I've visited this restaurant is the CONSISTENT and excellent service their team provides. The waitstaff are always friendly, welcoming and most importantly knowledgeable about the menus. I do love this spot and could go on and on, however in the effort of being completely transparent their prices are on the higher end so that's something to consider. Overall love!

We made a reservation for noon and sat in the enclosed tent exterior area that runs along the back. It is very warm, don't worry about being cold at all. If anything it gets a little too warm! Physical distancing protocols are in place, sanitisation upon arrival. Check in required, masks required. At the time of my visit the City of Ottawa has a restriction of four people per table. Food was great, service was fast and friendly.

What do I like about this restaurant? EVERYTHING! Someone recommended it to us and said try out the seafood tower. Great recommendation (if you love seafood) with so much variety. It was quality, fresh and perfectly prepared. They also have excellent steaks and I indulged in the fries cooked in duck fat (yum!) Wine pairings were on point, service was superb. In the summer they have patio (outdoor) tables which you can't reserve but are available on a first come first serve basis. They also have dining tables and bar seating if you prefer. My new favourite for sure!

I highly recommend this restaurant! We had dinner here a few days ago - it was fantastic! Great taste and fresh seasonings. We ordered burata cheese with strawberry chutney, prosciutto and balsamic reduction. For the main entree, we had roasted truffle chicken served with potatoes and carrots, as well, lobster pasta with mussels, lobster butter cream and parmesan. So delicious! We will return!

Food was excellent. But the layout and ambiance really was lacking for the price point of the restaurant. Our table was very small and close to our Neighbor that we could have been seated together. And on the other side was walking for everyone coming in and servers passing by. Even though we had made reservations for a birthday. It didn’t feel intimate. The service was good and like I said, food was excellent but would probably not return.

This place is so great! Food was truly amazing. The lobster linguine was delicious, the swordfish was grilled to perfection, and the basil risotto was amazing. Music was a tad louder than I'd like and service was a bit on the slower side but friendly. Decor is beautiful and chic. Would definitely return

One of my favourite spots in Ottawa. I tell myself each time I go that I will not order the seafood tower again and try something else. But…I fail each time as that seafood tower is delicious! My only feedback would be to expand the beer selection. I would love to see Sapporo on tap as an example. Will return and hopefully next time I’ll muster up the courage to try something else on the menu.

We can't wait to go back and try everything on the menu. The Lobster pasta was extremely good. I loved the simplicity of the steak and crudo. The chicken was very juicy and the roasted potatoes were delicious. Amazing food. We went back Nov 2023, and had the seafood tower for 2 - everything I had dreamed it would be!

I am not even sure where to start. From beginning to end our night out at Mati was wonderful. My partner and I sat at the bar and were well taken care of. The bar staff were absolutely fantastic and engaging. We ordered the Tomahawk and it nothing short of amazing, tender, flavourful and presented beautifully. The combination of delicious food and fantastic service is what makes us want to return.

Have never had anything close to a bad/mediocre experience at Mati! Appetizers are creative and come in surprisingly large portions, steaks are grilled to perfection (and come with fantastic potatoes), and the seafood tower is on another level compared to others I've tried. It's not very traditional (e.g. no crab legs, instead there's items like calamari, wonton tuna tacos, sushi), but the flavours are superb. The service is fantastic every time I go and it's the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion!

Went for brunch a couple weekends ago and the food was delicious. Our service was a bit hit and a miss. Our server was fantastic but We ordered Caesars they were terrible had to send it back for new ones which were okay and the kitchen sent out one of our tables meals 10 minutes earlier than the other two so eventually she started eating before it got cold. Would have been nice to eat together … but the food was so good we didn’t mind too much.

Mati was up to expectations again. And we tried the new Hamachi Crudo. OMG! At the first bite you hear the angel choir singing, ahhhhhhh! The perfect blend of freshness, spiciness and taste

We celebrated my birthday here about a month ago and it was fantastic. We dined in their outdoor tent, which was very warm. My wife, who is normally cold everywhere she goes, found the temperature perfect. There was a signed birthday card from the staff on our table when we arrived, which was a nice touch. Service was excellent, our waitress was very attentive. The drinks and food were all delicious. I highly recommend Mati to anybody that is fan of good food!

We came here with my boyfriend’s parents for their birthday and honestly, great service and food definitely met our expectations. The seafood tower was super tasty- we ordered the double amongst 4 of us and they added in an extra lobster taco so we could each have one and the tower was the perfect amount of us as an appetizer. We also had the waygu burger and their two salads Caesar and boccacini and everything was delicious. Our server was really kind and attentive, offering to swap out one of our drinks when it didn’t hit the spot. Would recommend this place- just know you should expect to pay a bit of money like any other higher end quality food/service experience you visit.

Really enjoyed our experience here. We had a full dinner with drinks and everything was great quality. Will definitely return. If I had to nit-pick, I'd say music was a bit loud which made talking hard. Drink prices are fair but this is a higher-end restaurant. The entrees (and appetizers for that matter) do not come cheap

Overall, we had a great evening. The prices are a bit high for what you get. It was a better than average meal. The seafood tower is a must. It was the best value on the menu. We also enjoyed the grilled calamari. I enjoyed the pilsner on tap. The brownie dessert was also great. The steak was well seasoned. However, for the price, we would have expected a better crust. The fries were superb. The lobster linguini was also a highlight. The butter poached lobster tail was cooked to perfection. For the nearly $60 price tag we would have expected a full size lobster tail(like heat came with the tower) rather than the small tail it did come with. The portion size of the pasta was also a bit too small. There was too much sauce compared to noodles. It was very tasty though and I would consider getting it again. It was a nice night for a splurge. However, in the price range, I believe you could get higher quality and more original food with a much more romantic atmosphere. If the prices were less, we would go often. They will see us again for a group outing or if we want a seafood tower.

The most decadent way to start your day menu features items such as: - Lobster Grilled Cheese 🦞🧀 - Oysters 🦪 - Avocado Toast 🥑🍞 - Berries and Coconut with wbipped cream and granola 🍓🍦🥥 - Prosciutto Bennie with and English muffin and hollandaise 🍳🥓 - French Toast with nutella and lemon whip 🥖🍋🍫 - The Veggie with hash potatoes, cocktail tomato, red onion, avocado, and jalapeno 🥔🍅🥑🌶🧅 - Drinks including freshly squeezed orange juice, prosecco, wines, and cocktails 🍹🍸🥂 I was so impressed by the selection, presentation/plating, and quality of everything!

Decided on a lark to try when walking by and noticing a couple chairs open on the patio. By luck, that was all there was. Perfect patio that I never noticed sits directly on a busy street. Well insulated for sure. Great attentive staff took our order or 14oz wet aged ribeyes with duck fat fries. Oh dang, get the fries! Beef super tender and juicy. Perfect combo for the night. Not cheap, ,but great treats rarely are.

Went there last night to celebrate my birthday. Was greeted warmly upon arrival and enjoyed the ambiance of their patio. We ordered oysters and they were delicious, the horseradish was shaved fresh but had zero flavour. Our lovely server fixed this immediately. The food has great presentation value, while tasting delicious. Would recommend. Thank you Mati for making my birthday special ❤️

We had takeout for Valentine's day and it was incredible. So happy we chose to try Mati and enjoy a delicious meal. Can't wait for the chance to dine in next time!

The food is amazing. Great flavour and great quality. We love to go here with friends and share plates. Start with the seafood tower and then go from there. Items that stand out (other than the seafood tower) is the Grilled Calamari and Steak & Crudo. Wine selection is very good. recommend

Ruined night because of a bar brawl: Went on Saturday, March 6 for dinner with friends.. we were seated at the bar where a fight broke out at 10:45pm with a customer and another person who seemed to know the owner/bar staff possibly. The fight was not handled appropriately at all and turned into a brawl in the middle of the restaurant.. the customer got kicked out and thrown into the snowbank by an employee. The situation was horrible and we were yelled at by the owner to pay our bills and get out (at this time we had already requested our bills but hadn’t received them yet). The owner did not apologize to us or any of the customers who were not involved.. seeing as we all paid over $400 that night. So ashamed of this establishment and the owners/managers who were there. Glad I got videos of this not so covid friendly brawl at their “nice” restaurant. Will NOT return and be sure to tell family/friends to try another restaurant worth the steep price tag.

It just opened and it was amazing. My boyfriend and I loved the food and service so much. Everything was up to code. We will definitely come back. Now our mission is to digest and share this restaurant.

We came to this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The food was great. The sangria was great but for a $15,00 glass I will expect a lot more than half the glass. We ordered the seafood tower which was very tasty. The double tower is good for one person. We ended up ordering the pasta which was nice but a little more seafood for the price would of been nice $48.00. We wish our waitress Max was more up to speed with her service. Unfortunately we had to raise our hand a few times to get her attention. You will think knowing that it was our anniversary, they will wish you “Happy Anniversary” here is a small token of your celebration (dessert) but our day was not acknowledge by our server. When My husband made our reservation he told the person we were there for that. You will think after spending $300 plus including tip on our dinner they will say “Happy Anniversary”. Sorry but there are other restaurants who will go the extra mile to make your celebration an outstanding experience. Instead on focusing an outrageous prices focus on the details or small things that a customer will much appreciate.

Food was fantastic. Service could have been a little more attentive but I understand it's a Pandemic. Still recommended. Check out my pics. The seafood tower is absolutely amazing. But we did wait over an hour to get it.

Services was great, cocktails were wonderful, and brunch was delicious. Sat outside in the heated patio ( in december) and it was almost too hot. There was a large group of people who seemed to be mixing tables not following covid protocol and I thought the staff could have done a better job dealing with this.

The best food I've eaten in years. Yet I heard from my granddaughter who dinner recently that the service and food was not up to par as when I went with her previously. To bad.

I had the seafood player for two all to myself and it was epic !! Only thing ill say is the portion is a little on the small side especially considering it was supposed to be for two but other than that five starts all the way !!!

Really nice place freindly staff . Got kicked out at 10pm on the dot was a major buzz kill. Foods very very very good but the drinks were very mediocre. We asked for Bombay gin and it wasn't Bombay gin . Wich is surprising because there supposed to be known for there bar but maybe there was a mistake. Would definitely come back but for a earlier service so we could stay longer

Went to Mati In the middle of December with another couple. The food quality was impeccable. The chef cooked everything perfectly. We ordered the seafood tower for 4, the porterhouse steak, salad and Brussels sprouts. The seafood tower had some I’ve the best oysters we have had. The only issue was with the seating. With it being during covid-19 I understand the situation, but we were seated outside in a tent by the “wall” and we were all freezing the entire night. We ended up spending a lot of money and would have at least wanted to be comfortable eating to enjoy our meal Overall can’t fault them as the food was very good.

I went out for brunch and honestly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. My friends and I had a bad experience. We waited an hour for our food only to receive it burnt and cold! I sent out an email to mati and never received a response.

Nov 1st was 4C outside and super warm and comfy in the tent out back. (Setup due to Covid restrictions). I was celebrating my birthday. Was greeted with a friendly Happy Birthday, a lovely card from Mati and a dessert on the house. We were there for Brunch which was delicious. Thank you!

I went to Mati for the first time on Saturday and was very disappointed. I haven't been to many restaurants during Covid but figured I would be comfortable going to Mati since they have a heated/covered patio and seems to be a very mature/classy environment. First the patio is almost all covered with a small opening, not sure how that even passed the guidelines, it was definitely over capacity. Around 9pm, it was very crowded in there, people coming in and out and standing around with no social gathering, the amount of people all hugging and kissing eachother was very concerning, i felt like i was at a Lounge. The hostess was very nice, but the waitress we had was very rude at times, and would pay more attention to the tables that were spending more money. Also they charge you for flat water, a bit ridiculous if you ask me.

Has always been a consistent restaurant. Great food quality and a much greater service. You always feel very welcome. The drinks are phenomenal and truly amazing. Have been a regular for years now.

Every experience I have had at Mati has been nothing less than spectacular. I love that they use sustainable ocean wise seafood that focuses on ensuring the ocean remains abundant. The service is always impeccable. Shout out to Chelsea who was so thorough, friendly and funny! We couldn't stop saying good things about her. Drinks are gorgeous and pack a punch and the food is some of the best in Ottawa. My personal favourites are their seafood tower, the seafood pasta for two and their lobster grilled cheese for brunch. A great spot for drinks with your favourite ladies or a romantic date!

We had a wonderful experience at Mati’s last night. We were a group of four and ordered several plates to share. Everything we tried was nothing less than magnificent. Their seafood tower was absolutely delicious and even though we are not big seafood lovers, every item on the tower tasted delicious that we wiped it clean. Then we shared their tomahawk wagyu steak which was so juicy and mouth-wateringly delicious. We had ordered the seafood pasta for two to share as well and the pasta was cooked to perfection- we were so full at this point but we still enjoyed a few bites. Their raspberry cheesecake was too beautiful to eat and equally tasty. It’s true it takes time for your food to come (took an hour for the seafood tower and then another hour for the steak n pasta), but that is because they take their time to cook your food to perfection and present it beautifully too. All in all we had a spectacular evening and would love to visit this place again soon. 10/10 for you guys - Well done!
