I've been looking for a good sushi place since moving from Toronto and 100% this is the best place I've tried. Everything was very fresh and very well priced. Even the miso soup and salad were excellent. Great portion size, A+ service and very reasonable prices. Can't recommend Sapporo enough!!

For a Friday night, this place wasn’t too busy. I had a good meal here! Sushi was fairly priced, came quickly, and tasted fresh. The servers were attentive and super nice. I also got the tempura, but I feel like they could have included more shrimp. They’ve also set up wall-like dividers to enhance social distancing. But beware-if you sit near the entrance, the dividers are a bit above ground so your ankles might feel the breeze from outside.

Great sushi and fabulous fresh sashimi! They have wonderful Korean dishes as well, but do a fantastic job on all Japanese food; tempura, seaweed salad, miso soup, etc. We drive to town regularly for the luncheon specials. They also do a beautiful presentation on takeout platters. Talented chefs and gracious servers keep us coming back!

We ordered the Takoyaki and Large Combination Platter for takeout. The sushi platter was good quality - definitely above average compared to other places we’ve tried in town. However the takoyaki was ridiculously overpriced. The online menu did not specify how many there would be, and we did not expect we’d only get three for the $11. For that price, I’d expect six, based on other places I’ve ordered from. The taste and presentation were also quite mediocre. Not impressed and would not recommend ordering it here.

Great sushi spot. They have kind servers who really make you feel welcome. In addition they have a big menu with many appealing options. The only down fall is they do not have very many gluten free rolls. Despite this the servers were careful with my food and even provided me with a gluten free soya sauce. I ended up getting their CAA roll (asparagus, avocado, cucumber) and Philly rolls (salmon, cucumber and cream cheese). Both tasted fresh and delicious. In addition, they gave us a complementary miso soup before our lunch which was great aswell. We left really happy with both the food and service, thank you Sapporo Sushi!

I loved this place! The staff are amazing, kind, and accommodating - they ensured my friend who is celiac had the proper soy sauce and informed her of what menu items were gluten free, in addition to making her a custom roll that she could eat. The portions were very generous for the price and the sushi was so fresh. I also absolutely love that you get free miso soup with your order!! Very reasonably priced as well. Will definitely be returning - I highly recommend!!!

Amazing staff, and the food was unexpectedly good. We loved the sashimi, the fish was fresh and just yummy!!! The tempura was unbelievably tasty and recent-made. The location is quiet and appropriate for having a nice conversation. We had a platter for two that was generous enough for two hungry men. Congrats to the staff and owners!

Def feels like a Korean owned sushi restaurant. The portions are good, although I would say watch out for the sushi since they use a little too much wasabi to make them. The Maki are great! They also give you a bowl of miso soup! And at the end, we recieved a refreshing orange that was cut into four pieces!

4.5/5. For sushi in Ottawa, it meets the standard. Korean options on the menu. Recommend visiting Monday-Thursday for a 15% discount. Friendly and catering staff. Unfortunately they often run out of toro. Chirashi: average and utilitarian. Agedashi Tofu: recommended. Sashimi/sushi: not bad. Tempura: average. Gyoza: average. House hot sake: value.

Ok this is the place in my mind top1 Japanese restaurant. Tempura 24pcs brings us to the old good days in Kyoto sakura season 2016. Also Sashimi dinner is what I have to order like always.

Great place for real sushi. Skip the all you can eat and go here. Quality and presentation are great and will probably cost you less than a buffet in the long run. Great selection that caters to everyone.

We got the family platter and it was so good! The food came really quickly and was super fresh. The platter came with various sushi rolls as well as sashimi, miso soup, udon soup, shrimp tempura, and fish katsu! We also got beef bulgogi separately which was very good. Everything was delicious and flavourful:) Definitely recommend and would go back here!

Sapporo Sushi One of Ottawa's premium sushi restaurants, your feel that right away once entering the building, it feels very traditional and authentic to when I traveled to Japan. The food is higher quality and there for rather expensive, I spend 77$ for lunch though I wanted some Uni which is 19$ for a single peice, the sushi is incredible and I would highly recommend it for special occasions.. I could not see myself having lunch here often as I would go broke. I ordered the 20 peice combo, the price was right, portions generous and of course delicious. 5/5 Highly recommended

Amazing place. You would never believe the inside ambience was like this from the outside. Service was great. Lunch selection was chicken teriyaki and was good. Did not order from the great drink menu because driving after. Great place to eat!

Have always been a fan of Sapporo sushi since they opened. Definitely a hidden gem on Carling avenue. Makis are always rolled with precision and filled with generous amount of ingredients. They have a great lunch menu to offer on weekdays that is worth checking out. I love the little cut up orange pieces they give you after the meal :)

Fresh and delicious sashimis (always more than pieces than what’s indicated on menu), well executed Korean dishes, fair price. Staff always courteous and willing to help. Tempura dishes is my daughters favourite!

Delicious food, with impressive portions. Definitely a great place to go with a group, it's hard to pick one dish so it's nice to share. I greatly appreciated the bowl of Miso soup before eating, very comforting. The little orange "dessert" at the end was also very refreshing.

We had such a wonderful experience at Sapporo today! This is truly Ottawa's hidden gem Sushi restaurant with some very creative and talented sushi chefs. This place is newer so it is very much underrated and undiscovered. All the rolls were superb and quality of fish was excellent. We had the very unique Cultus roll with rice wrap. It reminded me of Vietnamese wraps especially with the lettuce crunch. We also had the beef and short ribs which were cooked perfectly and presented on a sizzling platter. Highly recommend!

Unassuming sushi restaurant, a hidden gem in the Carlingwood area open for lunch. The lunch specials are not widely advertised but worth a quick trip out! Service is calm, quiet and efficient, so you can make it back in time for the afternoon. A bento box is plenty for a regular appetite, prices range $15-20.

I moved to the Ottawa area just over 2 years ago and was looking for a sushi spot and this is it! I kissed a lot of frogs before I found the prince of sushi. In all honesty though, the quality and freshness of the fish here is as good as I've had in North America. I wish I lived closer but still don't mind making the 45min drive as I am never disappointed with my order. I've tried a lot of the sushi, sashimi, and rolls on the menu but I keep going back to the dancing roll, yam tempura roll and the spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls, which actually have some heat to them—so thank you for that. Most places that say 'spicy' make a mockery of what actual spice is and typically just glob sriracha mayo in there. Sometimes the wait for your food can be a little long when dining in but good things are worth waiting for. I've now been to Sapporo sushi at least 30 times in the last 2 years and somehow I enjoy it more every time. Keep up the great work :)

In my opinion the best Sushi in Ottawa! High quality, fantastic service, outstanding combo and lunch specials. Highly recommend the Love platter for couples. If you enjoy a world class meal in an inspiring environment you got to check this place out!

I pass this place all the time, and finally decided to go in. Super impressed with their lunch options. I ordered the California/Dynamite roll combo and was impressed that I also got a miso soup, salad and potato patty with it. It was a surprising amount of food for the price, especially since their takeout menu doesn't mention that you get all the extras. With the pandemic, my intake of good sushi in the last year has been extremely limited. This definitely filled that void. Will absolutely be back.

Wow a great Japanese place with actually decent prices! Amazing! We got the sushi + sashimi dinner and the tempura dinner. Both came with Miso soup. The sashimi was thick and the sushi rice was really good, such that I really enjoyed the rolls!

I’m always looking for good quality sushi in Ottawa. A neighbour recommended Sapporo Sushi and it’s less than 2 km from where I live. Photo is lunch special #9, and I added edamame. Presentation is ✔️Taste is ✔️Value is ✔️I’ll be back to try some rolls and some 🐙! PS I love the ginger that isn’t dyed pink!

Our last experience here was a quick Saturday lunch. Had the best ikura and uni in a long time. Wife's tempura lunch was super crispy and delicious. Great experience as usual

THE best sushi spot in Ottawa. Took us 3 yrs to find it! Finally! Good quality fish, very fresh. Good selection of rolls, generous amount of fish, nice complex sauces not overpowering. Well balanced. Amazing sushi and sashimi. Will recommend anytime and go back many many times. (Sorry for the poor pictures, was too busy savouring them)

Sushi was good and fresh. They brought us a Miso soup free of charge which was great! The only issue was that we were two and I found the time between serving each person’s meal was a bit longer than usual, where one was already done with their meal when the other arrived.

I love this place! The food was so delicious and the staff were very nice! They also gave a complimentary miso soup! I recommend 😊😊 (Also love the candies 😁)

Best sushi that I've found in Ottawa so far! The tuna actually tasted right unlike some of the other sushi I have tried in Ottawa. The shrimp tempura was also the best I've ever had. Service was quick and friendly. Will definitely return!

  • 5/5 Rebecca C. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely delicious, fresh sushi! The spicy rolls were acting spicy without using gobs of 'spicy mayo'. They were very busy and staff were doing their best to keep up. A little patience and we enjoyed our food very much!

Had dinner the other night at Sapporo Sushi, and it was really good! The sashimi was very fresh and they gave generous portions of sashimi as well, we were pretty full just from the sashimi dinner. The yellowtail and tuna were our favourites from the sashimi dinner. The uni was also so yummy and fresh, could tell that it’s good quality uni. We also ordered the assorted tempura and the ebi mayo, both good, but we liked the ebi mayo more as there was a lot of flavour with the wasabi mayo. Love that this place has ample free parking behind the restaurant as well. Service was outstanding, the waiters were always making sure we were having a good experience which I appreciated! A bit pricy but for the quality of fish and the portion sizes, it’s worth it! Would definitely recommend and will be returning for sure!
