This church is truly very beautiful. I am not a Catholic, I follow Gnostic Tradition, but was raised a Catholic. I have respect and appreciation for the many branches of Christian tradition, but also a few others. Nonetheless! As a house of worship, this is a very gorgeous building, both outside and inside. Makes me proud of this style and typified representation. (And for what it's worth, my maternal grandmother was Ukrainian 😉) My breath was taken when I went inside, I marveled at the beautiful artwork and typical style of what I guess is an older Byzantine type. There is of course a lot of iconography, and gold-colored "trim" around the common figures of the church.. Yes you guessed it, Lord Jesus, Mother Mary and the like! I feel the calm and peace of this church. I think they were preparing to sing when I went, and as I heard chanting, I was transported to a different time in my mind. This place is very beautiful. A place for anyone to appreciate this and what it stands for.

Very unique & accommodating as to how this parish provides families with both the opportunity to attend Liturgy services following the traditional Ukrainian (Julian) calendar, and also the Gregorian calendar!

Beautiful church. Love the Ukrainian festival and all the culture. Can not wait for the next one. We had our wedding here and it was gorgeous and very spiritual.

Went here for Doors Open Ottawa. Such a beautifully put together church. The art inside is rich and inspiring.

Just left after a lovely little visit, a holy place, time to remember long lost parents, find a moment of reflection.

St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Shrine is certainly the most beautiful church in Ottawa and one of the capital's most stunning buildings in general. Situated right beside the famous Rideau Canal, it's a wonderful place to observe surrounding landscapes and wildlife. It's a great place for taking pictures as well.

Beautiful community and liturgy.

Great atmosphere and food, but warm in the wintertime after eating too much heavy Ukrainian fare. It makes for sleepy after-dinner speeches.

Very disappointing today. It is usally excellent but the sauce had no flavor today. I will give them another chance but if I get the same dish again next time I will not return.

When I saw the church from the outside i thought i is so big but the space inside the church was less than i expected It's a nice church with different language (malayalam at Sunday 5 pm) holy mass going on here.

Beautiful liturgy with most in congregation lifting their voices in songs of thanks and praise. Contemporary church architecture respecting historical precedents that is both reverent and inviting for services.

One of the most beautiful churches in Ottawa.

The people here at St John the Baptist are extremely inviting and friendly. The Liturgy is very entertaining as they're singing is fabulous. All of the singing during liturgy is acapella, which makes the harmony and the atmosphere very bright. The church both on the inside and on the outside is very beautiful. I would recommend this church to to anyone who is already a Catholic that is trying to try something new as the Liturgy is not Roman Catholic but in a different style. I would also I would also extremely recommend this to anyone who just wants to go to church and is trying to find a new community. I'd also recommend this to anyone who's just trying to understand more about Ukrainian culture as there is a Ukrainian liturgy and an English liturgy but they are both in the same Ukrainian style.
