Words cannot describe the nightmare a family member had at this hospital. Good staff is totally overshadowed by incompetent staff. Social worker was no help at all and seems to have spent more time avoiding doing her job. Talking to management is a waste of time. They look more into covering up issues, than correcting them. There are some good staff, but can see them leaving for better employment.

I don't even rate this place a 1. This place should be condemned. With the exception of one amazing male nurse, there is no compassion at all for the patients. The nurses get annoyed when the patients call their call bell. Through the night, they don't even answer the bells and when they do, if the patient has fallen asleep from waiting so long the nurses sneak in and turn the bell off. The clinical manager of the unit even admitted to me and my mother that even she would turn the bells off if the patients fall asleep without even asking the patient what they needed. She claims it's for the patients well being because they need their sleep. This place has left me very unsettled leaving my mother in their care. A patients call bell is their lifeline and should be answered at all times. Do not send anyone you love to this place.

My mother was at this hospital. She died from Pneumonia complications. Not enough nurses and the ones that are there are overworked and cannot attend to patients properly. When you complain the nurses become abusive towards the patients. My mom was constantly over medicated and left to sit in her own facies for hours. I've heard many other cases of abuse over the years from other people as well about this hospital. Someone should start a class action lawsuit against the hospital. I bet there would be a lot of people willing to speak up and join. Maybe then someone will do something about it.

Absolutely terrible place. Doctors and nurses are very few. Patients are buzzing to be taken to the bathroom and no one comes. Patients are there for treatment and left to tend for themselves. If they can’t they are waiting!!!! Terrible experience, thank goodness my father is leaving soon. Not because he’s better but because the program will not benefit him, even though a assessment was done to qualify for the program. Very unprofessional and disgusted!!!!

Horrible place. Very few of the nurses care...i'm horrified when leaving that anyone will even check on my mom.She can't fend for herself. Doesn't eat....no one cares....in constant pain....no one cares...soils herself....leave it for the next shift! It all depends on which nurse she'll be unfortunate to have. Shame on all of you!

My Father was there from approx. November 2010 to January 2011 when he passed away suddenly. I have nothing good to say about this place!! I have flashbacks to this day of the poor care my father received some days back then. There were a few Angel's who worked on that 5th floor but they were not around everyday. I have emotional scars from those memories that will never leave me. I pray that extreme changes have been implemented since then for patient and their families care. Personally..I have told everyone close to me to NEVER allow a hospital to send me here if I were ever in need of extended care.

I do not recommend this facility to anyone who has a loved that is terminally ill & dying. My mother died in their facility in 2019 following a battle of Glioblastoma. The clinical supervisor was dismissive and failed to listen when we advised her that my mother could not push the call button for help. She was left in soiled diapers for hours and subsequently became ill with a urinary tract infection. Shortly after, in her final days she was left in respiratory distress overnight. The staff failed to check on her and left her to become extremely distressed. She died shortly after (two and a half days later).Although she had terminal brain cancer, to this day I believe this hospital was 100% negligent & essentially my mother died earlier than expected due to the poor and negligent care. Be mindful before making a decision to send your loved one to this place.

My dad spent 17 months at St-Vincent , mostly on the 4th floor , south wing. He died on this wing , I have so much to say but I’ll keep it private. I pray you dont have a loved one attend this facility , especially on this floor.

We are not having a good experience here. A nurse told my sister that its not their job to make patients comfortable. Isnt this the whole reason for these types of places? Are ppl only in it for a paycheck? After reading other comments we are looking at getting our father moved out of here. I also suggest you do not contact Marie Eve...go above!!! *UPDATE* After the first 2 days we started to have a better experience...and a few nurses get 5 ☆ Burgundy is one and I forget the other nurses name but she is tiny and so so sweet...and also Sylvain...thank you

During my stay with my dad I watched the Doctors, Nurses and Volunteers working endlessly to ensure their patients were well cared for. As my father was approaching end of life and until his final moments, he was kept clean and comfortable. He was constantly checked on, as was I, and the compassion shown was incredible. I feel blessed that my father’s last few months were at Saint Vincent.

My daughter has been receiving care on the 5th floor that is deemed a ventilator floor. I cannot say enough GOOD things about the nurses, doctor and everyone involved at St. Vincent's. They are all remarkably kind, compassionate and caring. I am a designated care partner and feel blessed my daughter is being cared for at this facility. Especially given these difficult times of the never ending pandemic. Thank you just doesn't seem to be enough. You are all amazing! My Daughter is still here and doing well. Best staff in the city.

My mother, 85, has been staying at Bruyère's St-Vincent hospital, 3rd floor, for a month and a half now because of continuing complex care she required for a wound. I have nothing but positive things to say about her experience to-date. From the moment she arrived, I was impressed by the level of care and compassion that the staff showed towards her as their patient and towards me as her family member. The hospital itself is clean and well-equipped and, although I have read other reviews that described it as an old facility, the technology and medical equipment in use is second to none. What really stands out to me is the incredible staff. From the nurses and doctors to the pharmacists, social workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, janitorial services, kitchen team, security and reception staff, everyone is professional and personable. They are always kind, attentive, and willing to go above and beyond to ensure that my mother's needs are met. In addition to the exceptional care she is receiving, the food is absolutely amazing! It is so delicious and nutritious, and the menu was varied enough to cater to all dietary needs and preferences. The chefs work hard to create healthy and nourishing meals that are not always repetitive. What I appreciate most about this hospital is its genuine concern for the health and welfare of their patients. The staff take the time to listen to concerns and address any questions my mom or I may have. They always make time for us and make us feel important. The level of empathy and compassion they show every day is truly remarkable and it makes my mother's stay so much more pleasant and bearable. Thank you Bruyère St-Vincent. I know she is in good hands.

My husband, a still serving, decorated war veteran, died on Wednesday at the Civic having been transferred from St Vincent's, after weeks of me expressing concerns about my husband's worsening condition. This followed a similar crisis in December '21 which almost killed him and robbed him of all the gains he fought so hard to achieve since early '19. Communication has been an ongoing issue, I was never informed that my staff had recently been monitoring a new heart condition (probably because they weren't) and I will forever have nightmare about incidents on 5N, I thought 4N was better but here our family is, arranging a funeral for a 63 year old man. Client services are paid by the hospital so never impartial and definitely do not have the audacity to got to the top management when lower tier staff won't listen. Apparently, they don't like you to fear for your loved ones life. I said they'd kill him and they didn't disappoint.

My 91 year old husband was admitted at St Vincent after a heart attack for rehab. This place is a hidden gem. Never have we experienced such care, kindness and dignity for the aged and caregivers in any health institution in this city (excepting Ottawa Heart Institute).

Serious systemic issues at this hospital. Abusive nurses, no follow through from management when families file complaints. Plus a bat infestation. Avoid at all costs.

RANK service. If you complain they set you back in the ER. Waited 10 hours, only asked questions at hour 5, for what was supposed to be a 4.5 hour ordeal. Nobody will tell you your position and will keep adding literally anyone who walks through the door before you. One couple in the same risk category as me who came in an hour before got in! Right before I left.
