Having worked in veterinary care, there are certain things I look for when in search of professionals to treat my own pets, and I've been very fortunate to find everything I value here, at Billings Bridge Animal Hospital. We had previously seen & really liked Dr. Arthur, who'd cared for our late dog, but since his retirement have had our cats in with Dr. Hopwood, and Dr. Ha, both of whom have been wonderfully helpful and kind. They've taken the time to explain their findings and recommendations, never rushing or making us feel pressured, in any way. Appointments have always been easy to get, including those we've needed at short notice, and we find all of the staff very pleasant, too. Thank you, Billings Bridge Animal Hospital!!

Vet techs are super friendly and explain answers to my questions thoroughly. The reason for my rating however is reception and communication of costs. Whenever I have called or interacted with reception I have felt like they were judgemental of my questions and not answering them to their fullest capacity (I’ve just recently started going to this place and wanted to know more about the process of becoming a patient and usual practices when coming for first visits). I notice I am treated differently to other pet parents when I come in. Moreover, when I have came in and had questions about costs I feel these were not communicated to me properly. I was told when coming for a follow up booster shot for my pet that it would only cost about $30 which was totally fine. But then there was the hidden cost of a “short visit” slapped onto my bill for an extra $45 - I was with the vet for less than 10 minutes and my pet had already gotten a preliminary checkup during its first visit and I had not expressed any further concerns since then that would warrant another general evaluation of health. I already paid $130+ the first visit for a checkup and vaccines. When I asked what I was being charged for (because the “short visit” cost was a surprise to me) the receptionist was short with me, answering my question in a way that they thought cost shouldn’t be of concern to me. I understand that vet services are necessary and are not inexpensive but having a breakdown of the visit explained to me without me having to ask would be nice. I just wish they were a little bit more understanding of where I’m coming from when I need more information and that I was clearly told what my options are and their costs before I consent to anything. I can afford to care for a pet but I don’t have money to just throw away so I think asking for a breakdown of costs isn’t an unreasonable thing to do.

Amazing staff! They are very friendly and supportive. Every time my dog visits, it has been smooth and he just loves it. He actually gets so excited to see his vet and that is something that makes me feel so much more comfortable.

My visits to Billings Bridge Animal Hospital have always been a great experience, regardless of the situation. I rescued a senior, blind dog in 2020 and the care Carl had during his time earthside was amazing. The frontline staff, assistants, and Vets here are compassionate, understanding, and always made time for me and Carl when needed. They always provided me available options for Carl's special needs and were up front about associated costs. It was always appreciated. A special mention to Dr. Chu. Thank you for being there on Carl's last day. I am forever grateful for your warmth, empathy and kind words on such a hard day.

Very helpful, hardworking and compassionate people work at this animal hospital. I have been taking my 2-year old dog here since she was a puppy and have always felt supported and cared for. The reception staff are very pleasant and super organized. Dr. Chu and Dr. Ha are gentle humans who clearly love their job. Thank you BBAH for always being there for my Ferra <3

Clean establishment, the staff were kind and helpful and the Dr was very knowledgeable and thorough, leading me through all details and questions I didn't even have to ask! Clean establishment, multiple safety measures in place for covid. I've taken pets to this business before and I would again 👍

I find the staff friendly and welcoming. Though I only order a specialty food from them, I've noticed that the keep their place clean and bright. They also phone me up to let me know the order has arrived. Thanks guys!

Everyone here takes the time and talks through any problems that rise with my dog nova. They are patient and kind. They are very busy so be prepared to put on hold ☺️

They're always patient with me questions. I haven't had to wait long for my appointment either. The vets are knowledgeable and don't pressure you to do extra things like sending your dog to the dentist!

Amazing, the staff there were super friendly and helpful. The vet was not pushy about any treatments that may or may have not been needed. They clearly were not after money instead were more intrested in offering the best treatment. Would definitely recommend going to this vet again. I will be going back in the future.

Absolute best veterinary clinic. I have been going there for well over a decade with my pups. They are extremely competent, knowledgeable, and with the most lovely disposition. They take their time and are thorough. Everyone of the staff has such a great disposition and I always know my pups are in the best of hands. I would highly recommend!

Been our vet for years. They're by a wide margin the best vets we've ever had. They do a good job of limiting diagnostic cost, while still take good care of you and of course your pet, whom they treat like family.

Clean, never overbooked, Drs who really listen to the details, staff r great, and the fees are very reasonable.

A 5 year old Italian Greyhound had bloody stool. The Dr spoke to us on the phone while he was in there (thank you Covid). She answered all of our questions with grace. I felt an excellent job was done for the 'baby'. Thank you very much!

Have been to other vets in the city but these folks are the best! Dogs are not cheap but I walkways leave feeling educated and well informed.

The folks at Billings Bridge Animal Hospital are top-notch. They gave the best quality care for my cat Agnes from her cancer diagnosis to end of life care. A huge thanks to the receptionists, vet techs, and especially Dr. Ha for taking such good care of us and going above and beyond, and during crazy COVID times, no less. They showed her care like she was their own pet, even when she was being "Angry Agnes" (I promise she was the sweetest cat outside the vet haha). If/when I'm ready for another pet, I'll be back for sure.

This review is strictly regarding their grooming services. Do not take your cat there to be groomed....terrible grooming. I was quoted one price only to show up on the day and be given a totally different price that was $100 more. The vet my cat saw prior to this grooming recommended that my cat be sedated while she was groomed..... very bad idea and I wish I had not listened to her...but given that you would think that the grooming would so perfect as the cat was knocked out.....not the case. The grooming was horrendous , uneven around the head and you could see the lines from the clippers. When I mentioned to the girl on the desk that the amount I was paying was crazy as I was quoted a lower price she had the audacity to tell me I could always go elsewhere..... WHAT....I paid almost $300 for my cat to be groomed and it was 100% not worth the money spent.....save your money and call Purdy paws mobile service and not this vets grooming services .....horrendous .

I highly recommend BBAH. I have several pets, cats and dogs all different sizes and needs. I find the care provided is excellent, honest and of high quality. I have never felt pressured, it’s the opposite - they provide what’s needed. If you want a really good vet whom is good and personable this is the place for your pet ♥️

Dr Hopwood and the rest of the team at Billings Bridge Animal Hospital are the best. They are caring and helpful. They listen to your concerns and follow-up to see how your pets are doing post-op or post-medication. We have many vet options in our area, but the personable service and caring attitude at Billings Bridge Animal Hospital keep us coming back.

Just called to get a quote, they were the only vet that would give an estimate/discuss what their rates were over the phone, no other place would even discuss their hourly rate which feels ridiculous: even if you don't know how long a procedure will take or how serious something is, you should at least be able to answer what your rates are for a procedure. Kudos to Billings Bridge for being reasonable.

I’ve been going to this clinic for over a decade and find them caring and thorough. I never feel pressured or dismissed like I have at other clinics. They are great at explaining your options and showing compassion in difficult circumstances.

I had to put my Sadie down and they were so good with The final details with a card and paw prints We received in the mail. Made the transition Easier. Sadie has been with Billings for the last 8 out of her 14years. I highly recommend if you're looking for a veterinarian In the Ottawa area This would be a place to consider.

The Billings Bridge Animal Hospital is of my dog’s favourite places to visit in the neighbourhood! (This may change after she gets spayed later this year) The entire team are all amazingly welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately today at Applewood park we had a small run in with a dog that didn’t like getting sniffed resulting in a small cut on my puppy’s ear. It hit a small arteriole so it bled a lot. We were lucky to be able to get in for an emergency assessment right away and with a bit of first aid they were able to get the bleeding stopped. We are very fortunate it was a small cut, but in a high flow area resulting in lots of bleeding that made it look worse than it really was. For everything from checkups to medication this is our go to vet. We are lucky to have them so close!

Cody and the whole staff were amazing, put us at ease, very intelligent and helpful. The best I’ve had see my pups!

We’ve been coming here with our new puppy and everyone on the staff is very nice. Our vet takes the time to answer any questions and concerns, and our pup is really happy every time we come back here.

My two cats had a wonderful first vet visit with Dr. Chu. Dr. Chu was very professional, informative, and handled my cats with care. The Billings Bridge also offers complimentary nail trims with your first visit. They are not accepting new clients at the moment. If you're looking for quality vet care in Ottawa, this is your best bet.

This is my current vet office and I cannot recommend them enough. You can tell that everyone here loves animals and treats everyone with kindness and respect. We’ve been bringing our dogs here for the last few years and we won’t go anywhere else. Recently, one of our pups passed away and shortly after we received a wonderful card in the mail from everyone at Billings Bridge Animal Hospital sending us their condolences. It was such a heartwarming gesture and was very appreciated by my husband and I.

Staff are awesome caring and compassionate and vet techs and drs as well. When I had a recent problem with my GSD (Molasses) they were very caring and compassionate. And when my last dog (Marley) had to be put down they were very compassionate they let me take time to say Goodbye 😢. And there prices are very reasonable.

They always take good care of my pets. I know I can trust them and they won't recommend something that doesn't make sense

Incredible, caring vet. Dr. Hopwood and the team at BBAH have cared for my two dogs for over 9 years now. One of them, was a problem dog: 2 surgeries for a broken paw, one for a bite from a husky, a bout of pancreatitis, leading to insulin dependent diabetes, and finally gastric cancer. The entire time, Dr Hopwood handled Duke with care and compassion, never once treated us like an ATM, and always had Duke’s best interest at heart. Thank you to Dr Hopwood and his incredible, caring staff for giving me an extra year with our beloved family pet. There’s no other veterinarian I’d rather go to!

I’ve never had a bad experience at BBAH. The vets, vet techs, and receptionists are all awesome. (Extra shoutout to the receptionists for being hard-working and patient.) They’ve taken care of my cats since they were born. They are gentle, understanding people. Both of my cats had dental surgery here and were fixed. The vets are great at listening to your concerns, explaining everything thoroughly, and will give you your options. They are honest and won’t push you to do anything unnecessary. I wish all their staff were continuing to mask though. I do wish the waiting room was a bit bigger but they’re working with the space they have and they usually get you into a room promptly.

The only place I trust to take care of my sweet cat. Alicia, the receptionist (I believe is her name) is so friendly. My most recent visit(s) have been with Dr. Hennessy and in the simplest way of putting it, he has been AMAZING!! Through it all he has been understanding, helpful and supportive.

Today was my first visit to Billings Bridge Animal Hospital and I am beyond pleased with the experience. The entire team was so welcoming and friendly. It's strange handing your dog off and waiting for a call to discuss his health (thank you covid), but Dr. Hopwood made me feel like I was there in the room. He answered all of my questions and was kind and thoughtful. I cannot recommend the team here enough!

My girl friend and I have brought 3 cats here over the years. One timid, One super friendly and one murder all humans. Each time they have had good interactions with the vet. Shots and nuder. The vets are friendly and caring. Each of the cats had no problems and the aftercare was great too.

I needed to tell them what medication my animal needed.

The vets and the techs there are super friendly and their explain everything to you in human terms .

When I told them of my cat having chicken allergies they told me my cat did not present in the way an allergic cat would. Never mind all of her symptoms - yeast in her ears, skin reactions, diarrhea. Another vet confirmed she did in fact have chicken allergies. Not sensitive to owner's financial limitations. Expected me to pay thousands of dollars for testing which was purely diagnostic (for heart murmur) where there is no cure besides management. I am a student, this is a cat I rescued from living outside in the winter, I have already paid for her spay, vaccines, special food etc. Cannot afford additional thousands of dollars for testing, they were unsympathetic and repeatedly called to get me to book.

My `hardest day we face as pet owners` experience: Much compassion to the human, gentleness & loving energy with the animal, everything explained so well, plenty of privacy given to be alone with your loved pet. Thank-you.
