Very good tour especially because they had to do a whole new tour cause of the parliament hill construction. Wanted to do Senate but didn't have time. Could have spent a whole day just at parliament hill.

I wish we'd been able to see everything in all 3 buildings, but alas, only time for the West Block. The way they created a new House of Commons in the courtyard is incredible. But that is about all you see... too bad. Made an impact on our oldest son, seeing the seat of government really seemed to twig something in him. Curious where that may lead...

Fantastic educational experience for all ages and ideal for curious families wanting to learn more about Canada. Adrienne was an amazing tour guide and she took the time to answer all of our questions, no matter how seemingly random! Thank you!

I went on a Parliamentary tour today. It was interesting to see the changes to Parliament, since I was here last 15 years ago. Check out the gift shop, I bought cool discontinued cufflinks & a blanket.

Sadly, the center block of parliament building is under construction for a few years to come (18-20?!) and thus closed to the public. Tours of House of Commons (now located in West block), Senate (located in the nearby old train station and East Block (a museum kept in the style of the original era of construction) are available free of charge, but have to be booked in advance. Many of them remain half empty, as is typical with things offered for free. The guides are impressively knowledgeable. The buildings and history, as well as politics, are explained, and questions answered concisely. Tours are held in French and English. Hopefully, the construction of main block is finished sooner than projected, so people can visit the actual locations once more.

There's an airport-style security check to get in. They take you to the temporary parliament location while the main building is renovated (the new spot is pretty cool, actually). The guide's info was so-so, one tour guest was talking a lot and he was actually a better guide. The security staff and reception/waiting-room staff were unfriendly.

The tour was wonderful! The guide showed and explained us about the history of the building. It was around 45mins of tour and it was free. But need to book tickets in advance.

Toured the temporary locations while the Centre Block was still in renovation. Great guides and lots of information. Toured both the House of Commons and Senate.

The tours only takes you into the “temporary” House of Commons, which is a very beautiful setting, but the guide didn’t really give too much information about how the Canadian political system works. It was really hard to hear him due to him having to wear a mask and other tours were also ongoing at the same time around us. There is no way to see any other part/building of parliament hill indoors at this time as renovations won’t be complete for another 10 years!

Tickets are free, but you need to prearrange. Good pace, kids enjoyed as well. Lots of great information provided and they had a good system to keep the groups going through. Arrive early as security can take a while.

I like the combination of the tour being relatively brief and yet informative. Toured both West Block and the Senate. I very much appreciated the architecture and the price (all tours are free).

Canal ride itself was a bit boring, but the guide kept it very fun and humourous. The electric boat was nice. Those eels tho!! 🐟

Toured the house of commons, which is currently located in the West block due to renovations. Our tour guide, Malaika, took us on a very interesting tour where we got to see the house, as well as a few other sights, and told us about some of the workings of parliament. Very enjoyable dip into how things function there. The only thing that could have been better was if the tour had been longer!

  • 5/5 S D. 1 year ago on Google
Fantastic tour guide for the West Block temporary renovations. I expected the tour to be rather bland since Centre Block is closed for the next decade plus but the temporary HoC is incredibly interesting as it has been placed in what was previously an outdoor courtyard. Well worth your time, the tour is free, come learn about the current inner workings of the House of Commons.

I visited the Parliament Hill many times over the years. This special entrance of guided tour is new. Every time I go there, I am impressed by the historical significance of the buildings. The area is under heavy construction now, for it will not be accessible for many more years, unfortunately.

Take the 25 minute pre-tour arrival time to heart. The security does take a little while to get through - the Senate tour was on Civic Holiday so it was a longer wait. We arrived right at the 25 minute before mark as suggested and only made it in right when our tour was starting. The House of Commons was a regular Wednesday so there was no wait, but it did take a little while to get through security. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our tour to start but they have a really nice waiting area with washrooms and a gift shop. The tours themselves are fantastic. Our tour guides were knowledgeable, funny and entertaining. The only thing that detracted for me was that I ordered 2 tickets for each tour and was only sent one barcode. When I arrived they said I needed a barcode per person… not sure what happened there because I definitely selected 2, so that was a bit of a letdown because we weren’t able to do both tours in one day because they’d run out of tickets for the House of Commons, so we had to get them for another day.

We booked each tour in advance. There's no signage for the house of commons, but they're very accommodating once you get there. We looked for the entrance for 30 minutes and even though we were five minutes late they let us on our tour. For the Senate we showed up 30 minutes in advance. We waited to get our ticket for 35 minutes... This was unacceptable, the teller was having difficulty with basic typing and took about 10 minutes per group to give tickets (took two minutes at the HOC). They would not let us go on our tour, citing how late we were... They wouldn't book us later either. This was an awful part of our trip. If you go, be 60 minutes early.

Me and my family did the House Of Commons tour and it was an amazing experiance to see the whole room in-person and our tour guide Clara was very kind and explained everything in detail and tried her best to answer every question. I learn so much more about the parliamentary system in Canada! Would recommed any parliament tour.

Friendly, welcoming staff. Very well organized and informative content, during the tour you'll be able to get inside of the House of Commons, this where our MPs work. Suitable for children as the need to know and be in charge of their future.

Taking a tour of Parliament is a great way to solidify or even start your understanding of how the Canadian Federal government works. Our tour guide knew her facts, and answered even the more difficult questions asked by people on the tour. It was also a great opportunity to see the measures taken to ensure parliament can keep working while the Centre Block is closed for repairs.
