This is a very well designed memorial, with several different styles of art and attributes cleverly combined to create a very dramatic and emotional symbol. I particularly appreciate the flag that was at half mast, to acknowledge and remember all the fallen soldiers. Please note this IS NOT The Three Watchmen - that is a Haida totem sculpture across the street.

Definitely to be visited - especially since it is a symbol of Canada's commitment to the world peace by making its contribution to the UN peacekeepers force that was awarded Nobel Peace Price in 1988. The Sussex Drive side of the monument has the background of the monument very well written - something great to know a bit about the history of the place. Besides the monument itself, the northern corner of the place has a beautiful mini-garden where you can sit and enjoy the view.

It is located in the centre of a major intersection just south of the National Gallery of Canada and just north of the American Embassy and Major's Hill Park. Artist Jack Harman built the three soldiers with architects Richard and Gregory Henriquez designing the site concept and monument structures. Cornelia Oberlander was the landscape architect. The monument was completed in 1992.

Hidden in a bustling downtown intersection, this is truly a place of peace and tranquility. Honouring Canada's peacekeepers, and at the same time depicting the destruction and meaninglessness of war.

Very nice monument. The smooth exterior with the rough interior is very poetic and symbolic.

A great testament to a world class country! Please note that there is another landmark called The Three Watchmen which is a short bronze (now weathered green) totem pole monument, just across the street from Northwest of the Reconciliation monument. It look like the totem photo has been tagged by Google as the primary header image by mistake for this record.

A beautiful piece of art that you will enjoy looking at from the nearby park.

👍👍 This is a First Nations art instillation - NOT THE WAR MEMORIAL that folks keep posting pictures of (that's across the intersection). This bronze statue is by First Nations artist, James Hart (the hereditary chief of the Staast'as Eagle Clan). It is three figures watching for danger, from both sup...

👍👍 Created in 2000, this monument is a tribute the Famous Five: Irene Parlby, Louise McKinney, Nellie McClung, Emily Murphy and Henrietta Muir Edwards, all from Alberta. Until 1929, women were not considered persons under Canadian law. This statue depicts a scene from Canadian history. Here, five excep...
