The cocktails were very impressive, and what we tried of the food was good. Our server was new but she was attentive and friendly. There was a surprise 18% gratuity added to our bill which the server did not mention when she dropped off our bills. We were only a table of 5, so an automatic gratuity is not customary (usually this is for tables of 8+ people). I did not notice the charge until after I had paid, and tipped her 20% on top of the gratuity of 18% that was charged to my bill. Not sure if this 18% was for the server or the restaurant. After pointing it out to the server, she did apologize and offer to give me the money back. Nevertheless, I did leave the restaurant feeling like this was unprofessional and shady. With so many other bars in the market, I will certainly take my business elsewhere next time to a more honest place.

Very nice place. Tables and chairs outside with a nice view. Well cleaned and good distance with other people. Only ordered drinks and were really good. There’s also a good menu. Quick profesional services, will highly recommend and come back!

Review of cocktails only...but they were some of the best cocktails I've had! The mortician was really good! It's a Johnnie Walker black based cocktail that is sort of reminiscent of an old fashioned. It has a smoke element to it where the server removes the cover at the table to release the smoke and reveal the drink. Wife had the snake oil which was also very good and a perfect layer of egg white foam on top. Server was very friendly and attentive. Great vibe to the restaurant/bar. Sort of like a speakeasy. Food also looked pretty good. Definitely will come back. Cheers

I did not try the food, but the cocktails are absolutely amazing! The staff is also very nice! The ambiance on the terrasse is also very nice just to sit and chat.

During our visit to Apothecary, we were lucky to have Cal as our server. Beyond his attentive service and efficiency in managing multiple large tables around, it was his genuine warmth and personality that truly stood out. Cal didn’t just serve us; he connected with us, making our experience exceptionally memorable. Drawn to his tattoos, I asked about them, only to learn they were mostly temporary and he had more to share! He gave us a handful to choose from while he went back to taking care of his other tables and upon his return, he even helped us put them on -- let's be honest, it's been decades since I wore a temporary tattoo so I needed a reminder as to how they work. :) We were so engrossed in the moment, we ordered an extra drink just to linger a bit longer. Even a guy from the next table over couldn’t resist joining our impromptu tattoo party! I worked in the restaurant and bar industry for over 10 years and I know how challenging the job can be. Cal embodies what it means to create a professional yet FUN ambiance. Though I live in Los Angeles, I know for sure that Apothecary will be my very first stop the next time I'm in town. :)

Checked out the rooftop patio for the first time. Very disappointing experience. We started off ordering a bucket of Sol. Only for our server to come back and say they were out of Sol. We asked if we could substitute for another type of beer in the bucket. He said no and we'll have to pay the price per beer. Ok fine. Only to come back again and say they're out of bottles and we had to order cans. He was nice enough to offer a discount for our bill. We had ordered Calamari to share and it was very good. However we were done eating the food before we even got our drinks. It was a very annoying experience. It shouldn't take 25 minutes to get a drink especially after your first 2 requests cant be fulfilled. My fiancée had a whiskey sour and she said it was great. We heard their cocktails were great so they have that going for them. We couldn't help but notice 3 other tables had issues. One with food being messed up, one for things taking too long, and one had an issue with no server and waited way too long before getting up and leaving. The overall vibe of the place seemed like no body cared. No sense of urgency when dealing with customers and being at a place with multiple dissatisfied tables is a real turn off. I don't know if this was an off night for them. But definitely not an experience that made me want to return.

The best bar we went to in Ottawa during our trip. I loved the decor and atmosphere. The bartender was one of the best I’ve seen too. He was personable and you could tell he was a true professional in his craft. I can’t find my receipt, but he was a tall, thin man with tattoos working on 8/6. Every employee that greeted us was pleasant. Outstanding service and fantastic drinks. Thank you

This is one of the best cocktail bars I’ve ever been to. The underground seating area is charming and warm, and the servers are knowledgeable and friendly. Our server was able to answer all of our questions and explain what the different liquors were that we weren’t familiar with. We tried four different cocktails and loved every one. We’ll definitely be returning on our next visit, and we’ll be sure to get food as well.

Went to Apothecary about a year ago and the food was amazing so was looking forward to going back but they recently changed the menu and it was all so disappointing. Usually we have a hard time deciding what to order because everything looks so good, but this time nothing jumped out at us. Even the cocktail the server recommended was disappointing and not at all as described. Learned our lesson and will check the menu before going back.

What a great space! Cal is a fantastic server- attentive, fun and full of incredible recommendations. The charcuterie board is beautifully curated and perfect with a glass or 2 of wine.

Beautifully decorated with a tranquil ambiance. Just had an appetizer and a wine at the bar but that was enough to convince me to come back sometime and enjoy a full meal. Was moderately quiet midweek. Great for being able to hear each other and talk. Had melted Brie before focaccia bread. Delicious..

Cute space. Had the carbonara and both of their non alcoholic cocktails. The Abigail (the one with blueberries and butterfly blue flower tea) was quite tart. Not my favourite but the Anthony was great. Spicy and sweet. Definitely filled my need for a cocktail without the booze. The carbonara was pretty good. A bit salty but lovely. Service was friendly as well.

Service is #1 . The food is amazing specially the Beef tartare ( so good) and the cerviche… wow! The restaurant is so beautiful. REAlL had a great night in Ottawa! 5/5

Come here for the Jazz Nights on Thursday, the ambiance really immerses you in! In terms of drinks I decided to roll the dice and get a bespoke drink by the bartender based on my mood and flavour palette. I really love bars that can do this properly so that is 5 stars for me.

Went their for just cocktail & jazz. The waiter gave the “too-good-for-you” vibe. We ordered just non alcoholic drinks & some dessert. Had the sponge cake and it wasn’t worth the $14 price tag. Way overpriced & too pretentious with bad food, drink & service.

Hidden gem!! This bar has the cutest decorations and I love the theme. Service was great and the Grimace cocktail I had was good. The only thing was that I found the cocktail menu really limited considering it’s a cocktail lounge and that the food menu could also be expanded.

I love that there is a menu option for "dealers choice". All of the cocktails were amazing with quality ingredients. I was a huge fan of the apple tea syrup.

This place is fabulous. I used to be a regular at Vineyards and was so happy to see how they kept so many original elements in the space. It looks so beautiful, I was really blown away. The cocktails are delicious. My cousin wasn’t drinking and ordered a placebo (mocktails), it was equally good! We had the tomato and onion tart, to die for! And fries and champagne are addictive. Overall a great experience, our server was attentive and knowledgeable and we had a great experience. Looking forward to coming back.

Very nice lounge. Sort of had a speakeasy vibe, being in the basement, and had nice decor. Loved the option for the Dealer's Choice drink where you could share your tastes and get something made according to that - my drink was right on the nose! Friendly service and good food

My girlfriends and I stopped by for dinner last week and the lounge was cozy and comfortable. It’s got ample seating, a full service bar with some incredible cocktails. The food and service were great! I got the chicken sandwich and it was delicious!

I recently visited this cocktail lounge on my trip to Ottawa. The drinks were amazing. I ordered bartenders choice and they were able to change it for me because I didn’t like it. The food was great. The charcuterie board was very filling. My second drink took a little longer due to the busy bar however the server was extremely apologetic and did not charge which I extremely appreciate. I will recommend this lounge to anyone visiting Ottawa and will be back on my next trip. Also the Decor is 10/10 worth a visit!

The four of us headed downstairs into the Apothecary after a dinner in Starling Restaurant. We had 8 drinks: 1765, Bel Automne, 54 York, The Undertaker, The Emilia, Open Liqour, and the Swalwell. Thanks to our server Camryn - she added to the great experience. 5-star rating. We plan on going again.

Very recommended place for drinks . Their basement bar is so cute and cozy , their menu is like 90% drinks and they have an small mostly sharing plates. However I did not tried the food, but I heard what they offer is pretty good . I was expecting thei cocktail menu to be a bit bigger, as this was the main reason this plave caught my attention. We had the cocktails “dealers choice” as our first choice wasn’t fully available (weird for a cocktail place) . The drinks were tasteful and very fair in the alcohol, each cocktail goes for an average of 18$ that I find it fair with the market right now . They are opening a rooftop patio in the summer and cannot wait to visit as it looks simply awesome just by looking at it from far .

It is a great restaurant - I took the Pacific Halibut - Hostess was Chanel Paris Server was Rebekah Styles and the chef was Thanos Mao! I highly recommend this great dining area!

Wonderful Prohibition-era styling and drinks on the inside, "Nothing to see here, officer" on the outside. Drinks were masterful and food was delicious.

Excellent food. We had amazing Duck Magret and Halibut. Would highly recommend anyone travelling to Ottawa. Didn’t order any cocktails this time as it was time for long drive but would certainly try during next visit.

Good bar located on the lower floor of the building. Good vibes. Would recommend to ask for a customized drink from the bartender!

Really enjoyed my experience at Apothecary lounge! The space is gorgeous! - Both the patio and inside offer a beautiful, sophisticated and chic ambiance. The drinks were fabulous! The bartender really knows his mixology - with one of a kind cocktails. I found the staff to be friendly, and attentive. I can't wait to come back and try the food...I have heard it is excellent.

Sat on the patio on a Friday night and watched everyone out in the market. Just had a glass of wine but will try the cocktails and food next time. The servers were so nice. The indoor space looks amazing too.

This place has really good vibes. Their decor is super nice and their drinks are really good. Portions are not super big. I got the pork belly and scallop dish which tasted amazing but was really small. I had to order something else to fill me up!
