Don’t let the location fool ya, this hidden gem is banging out top quality food. We tried the Lamb & Rice as well as the Chicken Drumsticks and Rice, oth were incredible and that little cup of hot sauce added the perfect pop of freshness. I just wish I knew the bananas were to be eaten with the meal, we would have tried it for sure and will next time. The family running the place were supper friendly. #HiddenGem #SamolianFood #AfricanFood

I can proudly say Alhuda is best restaurant in Ottawa. My non-somalian friends and I go twice every month. We really loved every food in there. And also we love the owners. They are so sweat and kind and welcoming πŸ™ πŸ’“. Masha Allah alle ha idin barakeyo habooyin ❀.

I just ordered 12 veggie sambusas today and let me tell you, WOW was I impressed. This place is an absolute hidden gem in Ottawa as it is not the easiest to find, but is definitely well worth visiting. Located behind the Canadian Tire on Bank and Heron, there is a building that says "1644" very large and easy to see, it will say Alhuda restaurant on the doors on a piece of paper. It feels like you are part of a secret club going and getting food there, especially with it being so fantastic. Lovely people as well. The veggie had what appeared to be a mash of peas, potato, and carrots with a hint of spiciness and some saffron in there as well, pastry was authentically thin and just the right amount of crisp while not being too oily. I would highly recommend anyone to give this place a try if they are looking for something different. Also, the veggie sambusas are vegan friendly :) 5 out of 5 I will definitely be back!

Very good East African Plaza/Mall in Ottawa. You can find Somali food and clothing shops here. The staff and locals are very friendly. Felt like I was with family :)

Some say that the best of food comes from the most unexpected of places. Nothing encapsulates this more than Al-Huda restaurant for me. Situated in a former school classroom and tucked away behind a Canadian Tire on Bank Street, this restaurant is my favourite restaurant that serves up Somalian cuisine. They are well-known for their sambuzas, so much so that during Ramadan season it is close to impossible to get any without pre-orders. The seating inside is not very impressive but functional. The food is what makes this restaurant pop. Women-owned and run, the food from their kitchen is mouth-watering, delicious and worth every $.

Chicken and lamb rice is very good. Salad dressing is perfect. Spicy, but that makes it awsome. Rice had raisins which surprised me because they paired very well with the rice. Complementary banana was also very much appreciated.

I am originally from Toronto and theres so many restaurants that have variety of foods and when I moved to Ottawa I was expecting to have the same level of food and variety restaurants but there wasn’t. Until I visited this restaurant Alhuda. The food as well as the price is excellent. MAASHA ALLAH keep up the good work!!

Had a big get-together and we decided to order 70 meat sambusas and every one of the guests loved them. Just enough spice, extremely flavourful and cooked just right. Highly recommend!!

I have so many great things to say about Alhuda Restaurant! It is a family owned restaurant, and everyone is so warm and welcoming! I was given a samosa and a tea while waiting for my food order, for free! Not to mention how delicious it was! I ordered two meals, and they were both absolutely delicious and tasty :) Prices were also very reasonable! I highly recommend Alhuda to anyone looking for a truly home cooked East African style meal, and looking to support a family owned and operated small business :) 5/5!

a year ago This is a very bad place to be. You can’t have your time planned before coming here. The girl at the front is very rude. Imagine making order online just to save time, but you ended up spending another hour waiting.... please if you could avoid going to this particular place. Wow! After such long wait guess what I get eventually? I got two cold moi moi and undone grilled chicken.πŸ‘ŽπŸ‘Ž
