Don’t read this review !!!! Bold statement below…. I’m not sure why this place isn’t full 5 stars. Probably one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Ontario or Quebec. True authentic Vietnam handmade furniture , decor , the vibe and fresh food. I think the rice rolls were one of the best rolls I’ve eaten in all of Canada ! Prove me wrong ;-) Will be back to this place next time visiting Ottawa

I was so excited to try this place because I missed vietnamese food too much and saw this place got 4,9⭐️ but after the experience I don't know how they got that rate anymore because the food was beyond disappointed. Everything was so sweet, spring roll, the soup I ordered. I was starving but couldn't finish the broth despite adding the fish sauce, bf's vermicelli was even more disappointed, he had to use spoons instead of chopstick to eat vermicelli 😂 because the vermicelli were all broken into small pieces (as you can see in the picture, it was even worse after adding the sauce), seems like they boiled the vermicelli for too long, the only good things were the beers, and service. I don't think we will ever come back here again!

Excellent Vietnamese restaurant with so many delicious VEGAN options! Be sure to specify a request for vegan, as the options are listed under vegetarian but easy to modify. It’s become my new favourite spot and is so cute inside! ** All photos attached are surprisingly fully Vegan (even the “shrimp” pho)! 🌱💜

One of the best food I had in Ottawa! Hidden gem in the city. I highly recommend this restaurant. The service is amazing, the place is clean, and the food tastes great. Very photogenic as well, if anyone wants to take nice pictures. I highly recommend the iced coffee, seafood crispy egg noodle basket, as well as the beef skewers. Their spicy chili oil is also made in house, and do ask for some if you enjoy some spice. Will come back again next time!

Modern decor with cozy atmosphere. Our food was ready within 10 minutes. The summer rolls were fresh, would've loved some fresh mint or basil, but the peanut sauce was tasty enough to add flavour! I ordered the general taos imitation chicken, the texture was perfect, lotsa chili peppers but would've been nice if they were chopped up a little to eat them along with the food. Lots of vegetarian options that are unlike other Viet places in Ottawa. We had a great experience and will be back to try out more of their dishes!

This restaurant is newly opened and nicely tucked away on Dalhousie St in the bustling Byward Market. A reliable spot for deals on pho, vermicelli, banh mi, wraps and steamed rice options, everything in their menu caters to both vegetarians and non vegetarians. The pho is exceptional, with a rich and hearty beef broth and some nice firm noodles. I love how generous they were with the beef, sprouts, and basil. You’ll need some Vietnamese coffee after a bowl of their pho. The other standouts that we tried include the BBQ pork banh mi, shrimp rice wraps, and grilled Vietnamese short rib on rice which was so succulent and tender. The amalgamation of flavours in all these items is perfect for a casual dinner or weekend get together with family and friends. Do yourself a favour and eat through their menu. Their seating is profuse with cosy and chic decor and has you covered in terms of Vietnamese food cravings.

Lovely Vietnamese restaurant with some vegan options. We have now tried 4 different dishes. Our dishes arrive less than 10 minutes. Very delicious. The tofu bites were a bit too big to eat. Interesting "shrimp" & "beef" imitation. Friendly staff Update from Sunday September 4th : Only 1 waitress for the whole and full restaurant, with about 3 party waiting to be seated. 35 min wait to take our orders...20 min later food arrived with the wrong dish...to avoid waiting any further we took the wrong dish. Manager or owner arrived 1h after we arrived to 'help' (I guess he has been called urgently), he was completely not familiar with the restaurant and seemed lost (even wasting the Waitress time by asking questions for things...). Lot of people seated left because of the wait. Also the customers were very kind & patients in such situations. What a shame to have only 1 Waitress taking care of a busy restaurant on labour day weekend, not fair for her or the customers. So I had to take 1 star off.

The location of the restaurant on Google Map was wrong (as of Feb 27, 2022). It is on Dalhousie, not York. I ordered takeout and was very happy to find a good Vietnamese restaurant not too far from where I live. All three items I ordered were delicious. I especially liked the Chef Special Coconut Juice cooked Pork Belly on rice. It was super yummy! I can’t wait to come back to this restaurant and try out the others.

Portion is meh. Got the large bowl, not very large. Soup is salty. Service not good. Slow serving time and no water refill until we were done with the food. Atmosphere is fine but I don’t go into a pho place for the decorations

Located in the ByWard Market, Parle by Viet Fresh is the spot to go for a delicious variety of Vietnamese favourites. The decor is so beautiful and unique, with modern touches like a sassy neon sign, a mural paying hommage to Vietnamese culture, and the iconic rice hats and a bicycle. Our server Quân was absolutely amazing and provided excellent service and recommendations. I was soooo impressed by the generous portions. 🥰 We ordered: - Chicken broth pho with chicken and egg noodles 🍲 - Chicken vermicelli noodles served with a spring roll and peanut sauce 🍜 Next time, we are excited to try banh mi 🥪 and their chicken wings 🍗

First time eating here and it was an amazing experience. Hostess + staff were amazing + food was amazing. I came all the way from Gatineau and through all the mayhem occurring downtown and I would say my trip was definitely worth it! 5/5 would come again

Best Vietnamese food in Ottawa. Extremely fresh ingredients, super busy spot. They were pumping out takeout and dine-in orders. I'm so glad this spot opened on the Market. (I ordered the grilled pork vermicelli, generous portion of meat and fresh veggies). Will be a go-to spot. Very friendly polite and professional staff.

Quality and care seems to have slipped over time, which is unfortunate. This time I visited, we were served old rice which was dried out, hard and even with the fish sauce and adding pho broth to it, it was hard to chew. The Tom Kha soup was the only good thing out of the 4 dishes we ordered why the pho, rice dish meat and chicken soup was either super bland or way too salty. Also a little confused as I ordered a rare beef pho but it had pieces of chicken. Service was good, not friendly nor rude but attentive and came to check in a few times.

Really tasty grilled meats on the vermicelli and the pho broth was very aromatic and delicious. Really wish they'd have more add-ons available like spices - like chili garlic sauce or chili oil - and fresh herbs. $5 beer special after 9pm is great!

Nice restaurant, great service and good atmosphere. But I was disappointed with my braised beef soup. There was so much fat on the beef, it wasn't enjoyable. The rice wraps are excellent with a delicious peanut sauce. Woild go back for rice wraps but not the braised beef.

The staff was warm, friendly and willing to go the extra mile. I really enjoyed the decor, the food was mouth watering to look at and definitely matched up in flavour. I will be going back and trying another dish for sure. Would love to see a cocktail menu that matched the vibe too.

A trendy interior with some cool Vietnamese wall art! The spring rolls and pho were so good! The waiter answered all of our questions and our food was brought out quickly! Love this place.

The food is good (pho was light and tasty) and I did like the interior design. It's definitely more high end than your typical mom and pop pho restaurant. Their viet coffee was delicious and I don't even like coffee. They also gave us a complimentary mango mocktail that had real mango chunks in it. I would say if the restaurant made some changes, they'd be even better. First, the shrimp rice rolls were filled with rice noodles that were chopped up. Both my friend and I remarked that if the noodles were left long, it would've been easier and less messy to eat. Secondly, the pho only came in M or L sizes. I've never seen a place that didn't offer S size, so we had to order more than we wanted. Third, service was kinda slow. We noticed another table had waited over 30 for their food and we personally had to wait at least 10-25 minutes.. for pho and rice rolls... not even food that had to be fried or baked, and the restaurant wasn't even busy when we sat down. Lastly, personally I like tendon in my pho and it would've been nice if they put a mix of chewy and soft tendon, not just all chewy tendon.

This is definitely my new favorite vietnamese spot in Ottawa! The best experience I've had in a while. The place's atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing, the staff were friendly, and the food was the highlight, it was SO good! We got the rocket shrimp rolls, chicken crispy egg noodles, and seafood pho. The shrimp rolls were crunchy and not oily. The crispy egg noodles is a must try, and the seafood was so fresh and flavorful. Definitely will come back to try other things on the menu!!

We had vegetarian veg spicy lemon grass rice noodles and veg tom kha coconut spicy rice noodle soup here. These were so hearty and filling portions that we visited again the next day. Their jasmine tea and vietnamese ice coffee were also something good to try. Staff was really polite and accommodating to our request. Ambience and location of the restaurant is a plus. I will surely recommend to visit here.

Food was decent. I found the prices to be a bit high in comparison to other Viet restaurants. I enjoyed my bun bo hue but my friends did say the chicken was really dry even in the pho broth. Have to knock down stars for the service. Unfortunately it was very slow and and we would ask the server for stuff like an extra bowl or the bill and he would forget. We had to remind him multiple times to finally get what we asked for.

Parle is an interesting restaurant. It has a fun old school decor, but fun Vietnamese touches that make the place fun and enjoyable like the fun umbrellas. The food is exceedingly good and they cater to vegetarians without an issue. The spring rolls are top quality. The crispy noodles with tofu had the right amount of sauce and tasted perfect. We had the General Tso’s mock chicken and it was delicious but a little on the sweet side - there is so much potential for this dish - like if they changed it to add more of a spicy sauce. That said we ate everything to the plate bottom.

Really enjoyed eating here. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere and definitely instapicture worthy. The service was friendly. We went at a time when it wasn't crowded so our food arrived quickly. Absolutely loved the banh mi! The Viet coffee was also good! Definitely a place we will revisit.

We were there in Oct 2022. Ambience is okay. Tables were not too close to one another. The bowls or soup dishes are large. I had to takeaway the rest of the portion. The wanton pho I had was a little bland although the soup was salty enough. I think the noodles to wanton ratio may be too much. The dish could deviate from the traditional pho style (wantons aren't traditional pho in any case) to include some other proteins or greens. I would try the Thai dishes next time and I noticed they serve pad Thai and Thai curries. Bathrooms need some attention.

The food was great. We had the handmade vegetarian spring rolls, vegetarian pad thai, and the vegetarian tom kha and they were all great. They have a large vegetarian selection and their portions are big. The service was also phenomenal. I would absolutely visit again

First time going & will definitely be going again! The food was delicious, had great service, the staff was super nice & the food came pretty fast! It’s also a cute place to take some pictures, one of the workers let us use their hats & a cute little umbrella to pose in front of their cute neon sign! Great & fast place to go with your friends and family.
