The food here is excellent. The fish chips and calamari was really fresh and well prepared. The setting and location of this restaurant is excellent, watch the penguins and the ocean while you have a bite. It can get busy in the holidays. Unfortunately they are not licensed. Unfortunately they dont print menus you have to go look at the one on the wall which is why they loase a star. To be expected whn busy the service is slower but understandable as it makes no sense to employ an army if business is seasonal. Still worth the visit. Tios for the owner - print some menus and laminate them cheao but effective. And an extra umbrella on the veranda will also be a good addition

We went for the hake and chips and it was amazing. The fish had a light crispy batter and the chips was made to perfection. But... the main thing was the sauce i ordered. The garlic butter sauce they make is the biggest winner.

Why is there such an uninteresting cafe in such a place? πŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ» We paid for the view from the window. Tasteless. Unfrozen food! πŸ˜” How can french fries be so tasteless?! I don't recommend seafood dishes. Therefore, there are almost no people in this cafe. Change the concept of this place, it deserves the best.

Be prepared to wait a while for your food, staff wasn't very friendly, but boy oh boy the food was delicious. Probably one of the best burgers I have ever had. Take the wet wipes, because it's big, juicy and messy.

The food was excellent. Portions was more than enough. The waiter Preston was professional and well mannered. The view was breathtaking and the penguins a must to see.

This was a pleasant surprise. I picked it because it got decent reviews and is right next to the penguin colony (cute little buggers). The fish and chips were great, as was the mixed berry mocktail, and the service was low-key but friendly.

The experience was brilliant. The food was delicious. The value for money was out of this world. This is the best we have had this year so far. A MUST

This is casual, not fine, dining in a great setting. Wonderful fresh hake and delicious calamari just the right texture. mussels and prawns chips and rice and a big mixed salad finished it off. Very generous portions. The platter for two easily feeds 3. Benches on the raised deck outside let you gaze at the sea and there are penguins and Egyptian geese all nesting nearby. Betty's Bay mountains and the sea.... A lovely place to be. And dog friendly. Highly recommended

What a waist of time. Can't get breakfast because it's too close to 12am, but we can't give you burgers either because we have no patties. Not even to mention the time waiting and tables not being clear. If you want to see penguins, it's a lovely place.

I don't usually eat battered fish, I prefer grilled fish. The battered fish dish was prepared exceptionally well, one of the best I've ever had. The fish was succulent, cooked to perfection. The batter was thin and crispy, not oily at all! The view is to die for! The prices are very reasonable. If you are traveling through Betty's Bay you must visit them.

We came here to hide from the strong winds outside and ended up staying for a toastie. The menu is pretty straightforward and the service is friendly. There is also a small selection of penguin-related gifts available to purchase.

Best seafood we have had in a while at such a reasonable price. Richard our waiter was full of life and made the experience even better. Will definitely go back. Great Seaview.

Some of my favorite ingredients on one plate - avo, smoked salmon, waffle but somehow it did not gel for me and way too much chips on a breakfast plate. The food out of the way now... The overall experience was great, personal attention by Elbanisa (wrong spelling I think) and other staff members friendly. I like the ambience and the opportunity to bump into people from all corners of the globe, including a colleague who, like me, was making the most of the time before we return to work.

The penguins is the highlight with the coffee shop being the sideshow . Service is nit great , it is what it is and for that is deserves four stars .

If you’re thinking about passing through a super cute restaurant on the beach, give this one a skip… The breakfast I had was like drinking a cup of oil and spice-less microwaved chips. They never had mushrooms so I was compensated with an extra piece of bacon. The girlfriend was super excited for a waffle, and they served the last waffle they had in stock, which was very clearly store bought and freezer burned because the knife barely got through it. Not at all what is advertised, extremely disappointing, and definitely added to my list of things not to do again.

It is a very quaint, slightly old fashioned place with a cute selection of big block-mounted photographs of the local celebrity penguin couple, dassies and other natural treasures. The menu also has some special arty touches and enough reasonably priced choices. Our waitress was patient and friendly. The hake and chippies were perfectly prepared and pLEntiful, with added "geelrys" to ensure no chance of any remaining hunger! Deserts were delicious too!!

I gave a 4 for service because the waiter first had to confirm if they would still be open (I approached them at 15:45) She returned and stated they'll be open until 16:00 It later turned out to be until 17:00. A waiter should know the times, even more on special days (it was Mother's Day). Service could be more accommodating by cheching on your patrons if everything is ok, or suggesting certain items on the menu. Kudos for the 10% discount upon the item I chose (platter for 2), but it was only mentioned after the item was ordered. The platter was HUMONGOS and could easily be shared by 4 persons!

Fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned, could season the rice a little better. Could do with more condiments (like tartar sauce, etc). Staff was very lovely and friendly, overall the food was very nice.

Our meal was slow to be delivered and chips really not great. Guess it was just a bad day. Milkshake surprise was nice

We waited over an hour for food. Service was very slow. The owner did not greet us, or anyone, did not check up on us and did not help the wait staff serve the food when they were clearly in need of assistance. She just appeared to be wondering around. The fish was good. Unimpressed with the calamari, the mussels were hardly fresh. The location was great. Overall the service was hugely lacking. It felt like we were a burden, rather than paying customers. We left underwhelmed. We won't be returning.

Waffle with scrambled egg, salmon, lettuce, cucumber, avo and maple syrup. Sounds weird...it is. The flavours doesnt match and the cold salad and hot egg neither. Omelet wasnt good either. Service is okay and setting amazing. Reasonably priced.

Nice basic restaurant. We used breakfast with a group on tour, breakfast was okay. Located close to the penguin colony. Friendly staff, short waiting to get the food

Best sea food & value 7 years ago we had the summer platter for 2 and HAD to visit again. Great food great value (bill less than R500) drinks included. Great service. Higly recommended PS the big bowl of salad and chips did not even make the pic.

This little restaurant is a true gem. The service was great. The food was out of this world the best I have had in a long time.

Lovely no frills, no fuss spot to have coffee/colony breakfast: ( 2 fried eggs, 2 rashers of bacon, pork sausage, baked beans, fried mushrooms & tomato, serving of crispy chips & toast, with butter & jam), for only R99. Friendly staff, fast service. Burgers, toasted samies, fried fish & seafood also on the menu. With the roar of waves breaking on the rocks, can't spent Saturday-morning on a better place.

Regardless of how the eggs were ordered, these were served easy over. Beef sausage was overly processed meat, the flavour of which contaminated the eggs, which clearly shared a cooking surface. The bacon was deliciously covered in an umamie treacle. If you are very hungry, need a bite and are in no particular hurry with no interest of the beautiful surroundings just outside, give this spot a try.
