A place of beauty. We only had a few hours to spare and this is the place we elected. The gardens and plants are lovely and ample space to walk around. Several greenhouses accommodate some of the hotter climate plants. The outdoor gardens are vast. My 7 year old son had a great time and we also had a picnic on the grass areas surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers. Recommend this place if you enjoy gardening.

A lovely place to spend your morning or afternoon. Generally takes about an hour to an hour and a half to walk through the full gardens and view all the exhibits. The greenhouse/glass houses contain plant species from across the world in temperature controlled environments and is definitely worth seeing! I really expected the landscaped area of the garden to be a little bigger and have more exhibits. We went through on a Sunday and their coffee cart was closed - thought Sunday would be a popular day for the gardens. Oxford university students get free entry upon presentation of their student card so don’t buy a ticket online if you’re a student.

Actually it's a great botanical gardens with lots of interesting areas. It sits on a sloping aspect with views of the city beyond. Very well laid out with something for everyone. The Bonsai trees are amazing, but easily missed if you don't follow the map. Ancient, bustling, vibrant gardens. Time flied as we wondered through the hundreds types of plants. Plus, kids loved the woody playground. We enjoyed our afternoon. We will visit again

I enjoyed wandering in the garden, even on a rainy day. The Medicinal plantings were interesting, nooks and crannies lovely. Pretty canal side seating, cafe is a coffee truck on site.

I enjoyed this small, academic garden. I would recommend spending a couple of hours here, but you could spend days learning all of the flowers. The hot houses have a fantastic variety of plants and the landscaping is gorgeous. I especially enjoyed the displays of parasitic and insectivore plants. Smaller than Kew, making it easy to walk but with a nice variety of plants as well as places to sit and relax in a beautiful garden.

The Botanic Gardens make for a wonderful visit whatever time of year, but spring in Oxford is particularly beautiful From the steamy lily ponds and arid cacti glasshouses to the rolling lawns, trees and shrubbery you will find many different attractions. As well as quiet places to read a book or hold a picnic The gift shop has great books and cards, while little food stall has coffee, soft drinks and ice cream And don't forget, Oxford students can visit for free

However rose garden is outside and free of entry charge in the memory of medieval Jewish Cemetery. We will visit again

I loved our visit on a Saturday in July. We walked about 10 minutes from nearest public car park which was so weird as a one way system for entrance and exit 😄 The Garden is very well maintained and there are plenty of variety of the plants. Watching boat riders was fun too. The small cafe was good. Tickets prices are reasonable.

Beautiful, peaceful and engaging. This is a very tranquil walk amongst the botanical fair of Oxford center. There is a flower in every bed and the glass houses offer a great representation of exotic species to marvel over. Well worth spending at least 2 hours strolling around.

I really liked the garden, the greenhouses were exceptional because when you walked into each room it was like walking into your own world each time. The garden is extensive and definitely worth the money. Anyone who is in Oxford should definitely check it out.

As a 40+ year old male who has zero interest in plants, etc, then I was actually quite impressed by the Botanical garden. Great little coffee van by the river was a good start and then a walk round the greenhouses and gardens with an assortment of plants, flowers, trees, etc to see

These gardens are the oldest botanical gardens in the UK . It was first established in 1621 that makes it 402 years old. My favourite part is the indoor glass houses. There are plants such as the Venus fly plant, dragon fruit tree, cacti and many more . Plenty to do there entry is £6.30 I spent one hour there located in the centre of Oxford. I recommend visiting if you are ever in Oxford or local to the area . The gardens are about 5 acres of land.

Enjoyed the garden with church bells ringing on a Sunday afternoon. Enjoyed all the plants, flowering and exotic, the edibles, and fountains. The river way and open areas toward the back were wonderful.

Beautiful flowers from different parts of the world everywhere you turn your eyes! There is also an apple garden, where you can taste an apple if you visit during August/September. Personally, I have enjoyed the most carnivorous plants, but there are many others to see. If you wish you to relax, there is also the option to get a small boat on the river which apparently is a tradition in Oxford. Lastly this is a nice place to visit and enjoy nature for a couple of hours. :)

Loved this place. Plenty to see and do. Entrance fee very reasonable. Informative and relaxing. Great escape from hustle and bustle of city. Only downfall was nowhere on site to buy food (did have drinks concession with cakes however)but they do allow patrons to go and buy food elsewhere and then come back into gardens once ticket has been purchased. Well worth a visit.

A beautifully peaceful corner of Oxford. It’s part of the University and close to some lovely colleges, easy walk from the busy parts of town. The oldest botanic garden in England, there are so many beautiful green houses to explore and huge outdoor gardens.

One of the most beautiful botanic gardens I’ve ever visited. Full of history and also there are so many flowers rare trees from Asia and some beautiful fountains and ponds that you can admire. It’s also very nice walking on a sunny day so it’s like a mini park and on the side you’ll see people puddling on the river. It’s so picturesque. And fair ticket price-£6.3 adult ticket

Beautiful, well cared for gardens. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, and clean facilities. There were a large number of plants to look at. Overall, it is a breath of fresh air amid a busy city. Very peaceful, well worth the small fee.

A lovely visit. Well laid out gardens with different areas. Formal, informal and greenhouse with very interesting specimens, (including genuine Mandrakes for Harry Potter fans). Not large, but you can spend a good couple of hours looking around. Toilets on site.

We had a wonderful time at the Botanical Garden in Oxford, delighted to spend our valuable time here. Despite being small, the garden is well-maintained, and it offers a charming selection of honey, plants, Oxford physic gin, and Oxford physic rose collections, available in the gift shop. Highly recommended.

Loved the tropical glass houses. These botanical gardens are well worth a visit if you are in Oxford city centre. The gardens run alongside the river so you can see the boats & punters meandering past. The flower beds are filled to the brim with fine plants.

The oldest botanical Garden in the UK is beautifully laid out with friendly staff and given the extreme hot weather we'd all experienced the previous week, surprisingly colourful. The glasshouses whilst smaller in scale than some, were beautifuly maintained with a healthy and fascinating collection. Great value for money!

The staff were very pleasant. Entry cost around £7 each. We had a nice walk around but a few of the glasshouses were shut so we were done within an hour. I have to to say, I can imagine it would be worth a visit during each season to see how different it can look. As we visited in winter there was probably only a fraction of what we could see in spring/summer.

I had a great time here. Nice place to relax. Just by the River Cherwell. Interesting plant specimens. The greenhouses have different habitats- tropical, desert and so on. Lots of shaded places to sit and take rest. University of Oxford students can enter free. I don't know if it's worth buying tickets for.

It's as lovely as you would expect a botanical garden to be. I went in the morning and it wasn't crowded. In fact, it's as if there was a deliberate effort by all the visitors there to remain tranquil as to not disturb the flowers and plants. It's beautiful. Corridors and aisles of beautifully displayed flowers in an assortment of colours with perfumes that will make you smile.

A lovely soothing experience. Not massive, you can cover it all in 1-2 hours. Standard adult ticket for £6.30 and for £7 for the Gift aided ticket. Tickets are valid for multiple entries throughout the same day. Would recommend the place.
