If
you
find
yourself
looking
to
go
to
Matsumoto,
this
is
an
interesting
and
wholesome
place
to
stay
at.
Initially
found
via
airbnb,
we
stayed
in
a
loghouse-styled
cabin
on
the
premises
of
what
seems
to
be
not
only
a
place
to
sleep,
but
also
some
sort
of
a
multipurpose
communal
activities
center
for
the
neighbourhood,
including
a
Japanese-Italian
fusion
restaurant
(where
we
didn't
eat,
but
still
very
cool).
All
of
this
is
surrounded
by
a
camping-style/outdoors-themed
garden.
The
cabin
we
stayed
in
was
very
neat
and
well
maintained,
clean
and
modern.
There's
even
a
projector
screen
with
a
projector
to
watch
movies
inside
of
the
cabin.
Adjacent
to
said
cabin
was
another
cabin
wherein
two
toilets
and
a
lovely
shower
combination
were
installed.
Staff
consists
of
a
bunch
of
nice
folks.
During
our
stay,
a
young
man,
whose
name
I
forgot,
was
very
friendly
and
helpful
and
explained
all
of
the
goings
of
the
place.
Amenities
are
abound
and
free
at
the
reception.
Only
point
to
watch
out
for
is
it's
location,
which
is
about
22
minutes
from
the
nearest
train
station,
and
an
hour
walk
from
Matsumoto
Castle/the
city
center
you
probably
came
to
Matsumoto
for
in
the
first
place.
If
you
don't
mind
a
bit
of
walking/travelling,
this
shouldn't
be
a
problem.
The
location
itself
makes
up
for
all
of
it
with
its
chill
and
wholesome
vibe.
Having
a
car
helps,
and
there
are
also
bikes
for
rent.
Very
important:
there
is
a
small
train
track
built
into
the
garden
that
goes
around
the
main
building,
with
an
actual
small
working
train
that
you
can
ride
on
while
the
receptionist
drives
it
and
you
sit
up
front.
Our
helpful
receptionist
walked
up
to
our
cabin
to
ask
if
we
wanted
to
ride,
of
course
for
free,
which
instantly
rocked
this
location
to
the
5-star
review
that
you
are
reading
now;
who
doesn't
want
to
ride
on
a
very
small
train
somewhere
in
Matsumoto,
Japan!?
Lastly,
if
you
decide
to
sleep
over
here,
please
watch
out
for
the
small,
friendly
frogs
that
live
around
the
cabin
and
tend
to
boldly
sit
in
your
way.
They
can
easily
be
stepped
upon
due
to
their
incredibly
small
size
and
good-faithed
trust
in
humans.
Which
didn't
happen
during
our
stay,
but
should
be
mentioned
to
the
next
fellow
travellers
blessed
with
their
upcoming
stay
here.
