I have stayed here many times! I enjoy the staff's attentiveness and the improvements each time I go. You can also pick lavender during the blooming season. At night, the combination of lights and nature creates a very nice atmosphere. It's in a residential area, so you need to be careful about late nights, but the quiet night air is nice.

My family and I stayed in a trailer house. As the reviews said, it's in a residential area, so I was a little nervous until I arrived. But when we arrived, the kids were so excited. Adults were also excited. The weather was bad on the first day, so we gave up on the BBQ, but the next day the weather improved and we enjoyed the mini-railway and a walk in the garden in the morning. I would like to use it again when I come to Matsumoto. The reason for the 4 stars is the smallness of the bath. I think you can decide whether you think it can't be helped or whether you think it's unfortunate. There is also a public bath nearby, so I think I'll use that next time. However, I made a lot of fun memories that can only be made here.

We stayed at Secret Base for one night with one dog and three people. There were many elements that both children and adults could enjoy, and the staff were smiling and made me feel at ease. It's tight for 3 adults. If you separate the tatami space and floor space, it is possible to secure 2 tatami spaces for each person. It's true that Secret Base can sleep four people with the futon drawn, but it feels small and cramped, so even if you're bringing children, four people is probably the limit. Yes, if you just want to sleep. Gas stoves and air conditioners seem to be able to cope with the temperature difference. I appreciate the separation of the toilet and bathroom. I didn't feel the space was too small for a single adult. I went to a hot bath facility in Matsumoto city area, so I only used the morning bath. Please note that the passageway between the changing room, washroom, and toilet is only half a tatami area. There were sandals available for rental, but not enough for the number of people. Also, there is no shoe storage box (there is one for indoor shoes), so the entrance tends to get cluttered. After renting the rice cooker and toaster, you will have to go outside, so be careful on rainy days.

Used by a family of 3 for sightseeing in Matsumoto. I stayed at Secret Base, and it had a lot of fun facilities for kids. My children were especially fascinated by trains. The breakfast was delicious and I would like to use it again.

It's quite reasonable! If you take that into consideration, I think it's a great place! It seems that there are other posters who feel that there is something wrong with their expectations for high-quality service, but I am impressed that they are doing a good job at such a price. I think it's because there are fewer employees and they're doing it better. So I was more than satisfied with the price. We also had a repeat visitor discount, which made our stay even more economical. Inside the facility, there are things like a train that you can play with, a hand-rowed train (trolley?), a tree house, a walk in the garden, and an herb garden. Some rooms have bouldering and hammocks, which I really enjoyed. The room has a refrigerator, microwave, tableware, water heater, etc., and you can also rent out seasonings and rice cookers at the reception. If there is a problem, please contact us immediately and we will take care of it! We look forward to seeing you again next time you visit Matsumoto! I wish more facilities like this were built in other places! I wish you the best!

If you find yourself looking to go to Matsumoto, this is an interesting and wholesome place to stay at. Initially found via airbnb, we stayed in a loghouse-styled cabin on the premises of what seems to be not only a place to sleep, but also some sort of a multipurpose communal activities center for the neighbourhood, including a Japanese-Italian fusion restaurant (where we didn't eat, but still very cool). All of this is surrounded by a camping-style/outdoors-themed garden. The cabin we stayed in was very neat and well maintained, clean and modern. There's even a projector screen with a projector to watch movies inside of the cabin. Adjacent to said cabin was another cabin wherein two toilets and a lovely shower combination were installed. Staff consists of a bunch of nice folks. During our stay, a young man, whose name I forgot, was very friendly and helpful and explained all of the goings of the place. Amenities are abound and free at the reception. Only point to watch out for is it's location, which is about 22 minutes from the nearest train station, and an hour walk from Matsumoto Castle/the city center you probably came to Matsumoto for in the first place. If you don't mind a bit of walking/travelling, this shouldn't be a problem. The location itself makes up for all of it with its chill and wholesome vibe. Having a car helps, and there are also bikes for rent. Very important: there is a small train track built into the garden that goes around the main building, with an actual small working train that you can ride on while the receptionist drives it and you sit up front. Our helpful receptionist walked up to our cabin to ask if we wanted to ride, of course for free, which instantly rocked this location to the 5-star review that you are reading now; who doesn't want to ride on a very small train somewhere in Matsumoto, Japan!? Lastly, if you decide to sleep over here, please watch out for the small, friendly frogs that live around the cabin and tend to boldly sit in your way. They can easily be stepped upon due to their incredibly small size and good-faithed trust in humans. Which didn't happen during our stay, but should be mentioned to the next fellow travellers blessed with their upcoming stay here.

My family (2sons) visited L-Base in March this year! It is a little bit remote from Matumoto city but Hirata Station ist only 15-20min walk considering small kids! (Adult maybe 7min). Seven Eleven is also right there to by urgent supplies. We really enjoyed sleeping on the nice japanese tatami in original japanese futon beds. The rooms are very clean and equiped with everything necessary. We cooked several times in the small kitchen, when we did not get a table at the italien restaurant doma noma. The restaurant is right next to the hotel. When ever we had any question or request we recieved friendly and helpful support.
