We
will
never
have
a
procedure
done
at
North
Pinellas
Surgery
center
ever
again.
Totally
useless
anaesthetist.
My
wife
went
in
for
a
colonoscopy
in
good
health
and
spent
the
next
three
days
in
hospital
with
Aspiration
pneumonitis.
She
came
round
from
the
procedure
unable
to
get
her
breath,
tightness
in
her
chest,
persistent
coughing
and
a
very
low
oxygen
count
due
to
fluid
entering
her
lungs.
Apparently
it
is
a
rare
complication
from
anaesthesia
and
we
understand
that.
What
was
totally
unacceptable
was
the
stunning
incompetence
and
apathy
displayed
by
the
anaesthetist
in
managing
the
situation.
She
advised
us
we
could
either
go
home
with
antibiotics
or
visit
a
walk
in
clinic
and
that
we
should
do
"whatever
we
felt
comfortable
with."
We
had
absolutely
no
idea
how
serious
the
situation
was.
We
decided
to
go
to
the
ER
at
Morton
Plant
where
my
wife
was
immediately
admitted
and
placed
on
oxygen,
a
heart
monitor
and
intravenous
antibiotics
with
the
doctor
expressing
surprise
that
we
had
not
arrived
by
ambulance.
In
our
non
medical
opinion
this
anaesthetist,
a
doctor,
not
a
nurse,
is
totally
unfit
to
oversee
sedation
practices
and
why
the
Surgery
Center
would
employ
such
a
person
in
such
a
responsible
position
is
a
complete
mystery
to
us.
