An amazing authentic and hygienic point for all your south indian food cravings. Though it is not a very upscale place but the quality of food they serve is just marvellous. This is a gem when comes to local food joints. Must try their onion uttapam, paper butter masala dosa, mysore masala dosa, cheese butter masala dosa and onion capsicum masala dosa among other varied menu options. They provide several kind of chutneys and top notch sambhar to dig in with. They use amul butter in all their butter cuisine. The seating is not very proper, but in order to have it you'll have to visit the place atleast once. Parcel of food is very good option. I give it 5 starts due to pure quality of food.

Pure veg restaurant located in my neighbourhood only, so we are regular customers of this place. All items taste very good and service is good thinking about the volume of food they prepare. The dosa and the chutney they provide with the dosa are of excellent quality.The place is very busy with customers lining up all day for food, so be prepared for long queues at lunch time or evening and on most days food gets over by 8 PM. No complaints about food even with so much crowd and the prices are reasonable. The sitting places are crowded and its hot if you have to sit outside, things become bad in winter due to mosquitoes. Please note that THURSDAYS ARE CLOSED.

Aunthentic South indian food is rare in Kolkata...Tried the idli's and it immediately reminded me of the idlis I had in had in Chennai in Adyar. Have always missed that taste....white chutney and Sambhar is equally superb..Tried Rawa Dosa as well..they were sumptuous too..I recommend it wholeheartedly..

Authentic South Indian recipes available. I would like to suggest them to include pure Jain (no onion, no garlic) recipes, so that a large number of people who don't prefer onion and garlic will be able to taste their authentic South Indian delicacies.

They make great dosas and other south Indian cuisine but the only thing that I don't like is that most of time it is either crowded or all their food get finished. The place is a common place for college students to eat as it is cheap and the dosas are quite large at size and length. They also serve the dosas with a variety of toppings.

Authentic and tasty south indian food, specially dhosa , but mysore dhosa is too much spicy. A good place to try south indian food. Butter cheese onion dhosa is wow.. i personally don't like the taste of their alo masala. Love the crispy Ness and taste of the dhosha itself. Filter coffee is outstanding.

Very very arrogant. They absolutely thinks themselves as the kings of the world. They will make you feel like they're doing a marvelous favour for you to serve you food. They make the customers wait for so long and don't even bother to meet up to their requirements. Just making good food is not enough, politeness and service is of utmost importance. I would have given negative 5 stars if there was such an option.

Excellent South Indian food, Idly is the softest in kolkata. Only problem is that their stock finishes quite early. They are not able to cater to the demand on weekends.If you visit after 10A.M on weekends, less chances that you will get food there

Went out to have a quick breakfast. Couldn't find any South Indian breakfast place around karunamoyee. Google led us to this small eatery. Nothing glam sham but the food was awesome. Soft delicate idly and equally nice textured coconut chatni . Sambar servings were way too small and taste can be improved but idli, vadas and dosa was as good as any nice restaurant

We had been regular there for about 7years and even now whenever we go to Salt Lake this is our first choice of having food. Over the years though they have decreased their offered food items, but taste is great. Their services and behaviour is also top notch. In rush hour (well, here it may be throughout the day!) there is a problem with sittings but they try to accommodate.

I have been visiting this place for more than 8 years now and trust me, this is the best place in Salt Lake where you can visit if you are looking for cheap pocket friendly South Indian cuisine (including Dosas, Idlis, Uthhapam, Vada, Lemon Rice etc) without any compromise in the taste and portion. Though, being a small shop without air conditioners, the food is delicious and comparable to big restaurants. They are also very hygienic. On weekends, you have to come here before 9-10 AM because they run out of stock after 10 AM due to high demands. Ranging from college students to working men, Shiv Sai Snacks Bar is everyone's delight.
