Had mold in the shower and paint was peeling above shower. Rest of the room was very nice. We had our own little balcony. Breakfast was tasty. The pancakes only came with one pancake which was kind of surprising. The server in the morning was very on top of coffee refills and seating guests even though she was working by herself. Check your reservation before you go. I reserved a room in August for travel in October and did not make sure that I got the discount I was supposed to. Front desk was unable to fix this problem as I did not look at the email prior to arrival to see that I was being charged full price. Was not a good first impression, but the location is hard to beat. Nice outdoor seating with gas fireplace outside. Cottage parking is kind of a free for all. If you move your car, don't expect to have the same spot when you get back! There is lots of parking in the garage though. Overall not a bad spot. Little expensive, but mostly worth it.

This was a lovely place. It is a tad bit old, but for the price to quality- it definitely ranks high. Our room was large, with a fireplace and balcony. The location is great. It was quiet and very easy access. We were pleasantly surprised because of the price.

Checked in and when I went to plug in my CPAP machine there was rat poop behind the bed. I reported it immediately and they let us move to other room which had peeling paint and rust in the bathroom. There were multiple stains on the carpets , more chipped paint around mirrors and doors. The ice machine was nasty and filter hadn't been changed in over 3 years. This place has really gone downhill since our last visit . Not once were we offered any sort of compensation for the rat poop or conditions of the room. It was our anniversary and we won't ever be back. In response to the managers comments, the staff didn't help us move to other room, we moved ourselves and what if anything do you plan on doing about the conditions in your facility? The second room had multiple issues as I stated in my review. Your profile resume speaks of your ability to cut operation costs and save money for this location. It shows it, not enough staff to properly care for the motel, keep up with repairs and maintenance, slapping a coat of paint on the outside of the building doesn't make it better. Shame on you for doing business this way.

Upon arriving the front desk service was very great. We found our room fast and it was so clean and cozy. We had a working gas fireplace. The bed was comfortable and so were the pillows. In the morning we had the most amazing breakfast and service from the chef and Anne was AMAZING. This place just makes you feel right at home and comfortable. I would 100% return next time I visit and recommend it to everyone!

I’m not sure why they don’t have a higher rating. Our room was really nice and so is the girl working there. They upgraded our room free of cost and it faced the cemetery. We saw more monarch butterflies here than at the sanctuary. Love that they have a pool and spa. It’s open until 10 pm and was great to jump into after walking to Cannery Row in Monterey. It is located 5 minutes walking distance from the beach. You can hear waves crashing from the rooms! The only thing is that they allow dogs in the rooms. So if you have allergies to pets you might not want to stay here, as they have carpet rather than wood flooring. Not sure why dog owners don’t leave their pets at home. My BF is highly allergic to dogs as are other people. It’s sad for them.

Fantastic place to stay for a vacation. This hotel has made big strides in the last couple years including a full remodel of the rooms as well as an expanded breakfast with made-to-order food. The rooms are clean and spacious with a bedroom and living room area that includes a fold out bed from the couch. The morning breakfast is completely free and now has a full menu, all of which we enjoyed. The staff was incredibly helpful and were always available to give us extra towels and items for our room. The pool is heated which was very welcome and the hot tub was clean and well-maintained. You can tell they've been working hard to improve this place as it's a night and day difference from a few years ago, will be staying here again!

We stayed in the honeymoon suite for two nights. We would not stay at this hotel again. Facility, staff level and cleanliness level is low. Facility : Around 8:30pm I tried to take a shower, there was no hot water. 2 nights same situation. The boiler that boils hot water is not big enough or is broken. There is not enough hot water for all the guest. The room was next kitchen , which was noisy around 6:00 amand our room was full of smell of bacon. Cleanses : There was a dead fly in the shower room entrance. The next day is was still there. They don’t care detail and just change the towels and sheets. Staff and Service : Not helpful. I called about hot water around 9:00pm. She just kept repeating that I was not responsible for the problem. A different staff explained that the boiler had been down for weeks. He said they would take care of it again tomorrow, but no one came to say anything and no message was received. She was dealing with all customers by herself. The atmosphere of the cafe was bad. Food is served on paper plates.

Do not stay here! I booked a room with my boyfriend as part of a week long vacation and the room was definitely not as advertised. The room was completely worn down: the couch sounded like it was going to break as soon as we sat on it, the random chair in the living room was stained and old, the windows would not close properly and the living room ottoman was so old the material was peeling all over the top. We politely asked to move to a different room, and Diane at the front desk was condescending and seemed offended that we didn't like our room. We were eventually downgraded to a regular king room, but only after being given a bunch of attitude from Diane. She seemed to be put out by us slightly complaining about the room. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't want to pay almost $200 a night for a room that looks like the furniture was taken off the side of the road. Management needs to find some extra room in the company budget for new furniture and windows because it's ridiculous to think you can charge people for dirty, worn-out out rooms. We should have listened to reviews before booking here.
