At first, this place looks lovely. It’s in a good location and the rooms are decent. I got a king bedroom. At first I thought it was cute and cozy, but after a while, it felt claustrophobic. There was no table/desk to eat or work at, making the only option to eat on the bed (that had white blankets). The tv seemed like it was barely holding on and it was crooked. THERE IS NO POOL or breakfast. I booked this place with the assumption that there would be a pool, but there is only a hot tub. I guess they took out the pool, but haven’t updated google. There was also no AC. They did supply a fan though. The wifi was bad, I could barely use my computer. And there was this huge gap underneath the front door and a cockroach came in at night. I told my mom about my experience and she called them to talk about maybe getting a partial refund. They wouldn’t even let her finish her complaint and basically hung up on her. I was surprised because they were so nice to me when I checked in. Overall, it might be a decent place if you have no complaints and just need a place to sleep.

Beware!! our room was unsafe. At arrival we had booked a patio room. When we entered the room, I went over to open the patio sliding door to get some air in the room as it smelled musty. The sliding lass door was damaged and could barely slide. I then slid the screen door over to and the entire door fell into the patio and I went down with the door trying to save the door. I have severely sprained my ankle and limping for the entire weekend we were there. We stopped by the next day to let them know about the screen door and unsafe condition of the door. The day desk person responded with we know about the doors and have them ordered but there back ordered. There is a very large drop off from the room to the patio and very unsafe without any warning of a drop-off with no stairs leading out. We measures and its not up to code. Upon our departure 2 days later we mentioned again how unsafe it is and the day manager stated "What do you want me to do, jump up from here and do triage!" They are lucky I didn't crack my head open because triage would have been necessary.

BEWARE: This Motel is falling apart and ‘Management’ doesn’t care! We have stayed before and enjoyed it, mostly due to the location and the fact it’s dog friendly, but this stay was horrible and a rip off at $400 a night. We were checked into a room with a broken shower and had to repack and move (after dinner). We were placed into a DIRTY, un-sanitized room (Covid precautions?) with a broken phone and kitchen lighting. All huge safety hazards. By law hotels have to have a working phone for emergencies. There was even a dresser drawer filled with dirty laundry, including crusty, gooey underwear! So nasty! Dirty counters, dishes and missing supplies. Other peoples bathroom supplies left in the shower. I doubt the beding was clean. So gross! I asked for some sort of refund and they only offered $110! We paid $1400 for this, ridiculous! The night guy trying to help was swamped (he was doing his best), so I didn’t want to give him a worse night and opted to deal with a manager later. I asked to speak to one in the morning and was told they would contact me to discuss. They NEVER did. Had to ask again the next day and was told “yeah, so I told them and they said that’s all we can offer, sorry.” No call or anything. I even emailed the contact on the website and NEVER got a reply that way either. On top of this our neighbors were super loud and had multiple barking dogs and didn’t care. We won’t be back unless serious action is taken.we deserve to have at least one night refunded, Minimally! I’m so embarrassed I chose this place and ever recommend it. Rip off. Poor management.

We enjoyed our time here. We were at MPI for about ten days. It was clean, the staff was nice. The cleaning staff came in roughly daily. We had a few minor gripes, like it would be nice if the trash cans were a bit larger and had lids. Please the utensils and cooking supplies provided were a little cheap but these are minor quibbles. We would absolutely consider staying here again.

Room was clean and had daily turndown service. A bit small for two people. Location is great and suited our needs pretty well. Desk hours are very limited, however.

Loved this cute little place. The service was great! Plenty of parking. Lots of walking trails nearby. The beds are horrible. I hope they change all their mattresses out for newer better ones. The shower heads are very low so if you're taller than 5 6. Could be an issue. Loved that they are dog friendly. Tea and coffee in the lobby was sweet.

I have been traveling to Pacific Grove a couple of times a year for many years. I have stayed at a few different hotels/inns in the area. I had stayed at the Monterey Peninsula Inn the first time about a year ago and it was so quiet and pleasant and felt that I would likely come back again. This time around, I ended up having to reschedule due to the intense storms that hit California at the beginning of the year. When I called in concern that I wouldn't be able to make the drive, each one of the front desk/reservation staff I spoke with on that was very helpful, kind & accomodating to my needs. Even though I made the res through a 3rd party site, they made that a "no problem" situation and booked me for the following week. Then, when I got to my room today, I noticed my neighbors had a dog that enjoyed barking, so I asked for a new room and again, it was no problem to move me to a few rooms down. So, here I am writing from my new cozy, quiet room and I am so thankful! I was a little worried I was being a high maintenance. There's really still nothing like excellent customer/guest care. I will defintetly be giving them my business when I come to stay in the area again.

Love this place. The front desk host was full of information. Very quaint. Room was super clean and the bed was not hard as a rock.

Such a beautiful and cozy place to stay! The rooms are super clean and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful with all the flora and fauna. The staff is absolutely EXCEPTIONAL! Annette, Ryan and Aaron at the front desk are super helpful, super friendly and all around beautiful people. We can’t wait to come back on our next trip from Canada! Definitely recommend this beautiful little gem❤️

Nice, quaint motel that takes dogs. Friendly staff. Only challenges to be aware of....poor lighting at night and lots of uneven surfaces and curbs/walkways. My husband stepped off a curb the first night we were there, not realizing there was a significant drop in elevation to the asphalt. He fell and hit his head, hands, elbow, and knee. He was able to get up and make it back to our room, and I patched him up. I did share with the front desk person when we checked out As an employee safety professional at work, I would highly recommend a slip trip fall assessment to identify uneven surfaces, improve lighting, and possibly paint some curbs. Otherwise....loved this little gem.

We can recomend that hotel. It is quite and cozy. The Manager was real frendly, as we had an issue with the heating she offered to swap the room without any excuses. It's totally near the ocean so you can hear the waves sometimes. Canaryrow can be reached within 30 minuted by foot.

Staff ransacked our room at 10am before we checked out! We had to rummage through the trash to get all our beverages; & special dietary foods that were in the small refrigerator. They took our travel mugs and our cooler and rinsed them out and had them to the side for their own. They threw away our toothbrush and toiletries that were in the bathroom. They made no apologies for what happened and also no refunds for this hugely disappointing.

We stayed at a two room "cottage". The only good thing about this place is that they accept pets. The house feels like a small storage unit packed with 3 double beds. There is no table or desk and we could barely bring a suitcase in.

This is the 4th time staying at this Inn. My wife and I think it's the perfect spot away from the usual tourist noise in Monterey and absolutely love it. The rooms are nicely configured and most of all, CLEAN! That is my main issue with hotel rooms, are they clean, do they have good linens and are the bathroom towels scratchy. I can say that all 3 of my checklist items are exceeded by this very nice Inn. The linens are nice and well kept and the bathroom towels are actually soft. We also enjoy Pacific Grove very much as the town is just great, its quiet and there are a lot of local restaurants that server amazing food that isn't priced to astronomical levels. We cannot recommend this place more than we do to friends and family.

What a huge disappointment! The pictures on the website were SO misleading. The room was miniscule, the lighting wasn't strong enough to read a book. Felt like we were in a little cage. The microwave was broken and wasn't replace even after they assured it would be. Walls were thin. We asked if we could leave early without being charged for the second night, and they refused, so we stuck it out. What a bummer.

Let me preface this by saying I realize it is an inn and not a 4-star hotel. Our first room was too far from the WiFi to keep connected, and had minimal cell service. The heater also didn’t work. The man at the front desk did try to fix the heater, but couldn’t, so we were moved to another room, which was appreciated. The second room had WiFi access and the heater worked, but cleaning was sub par (for example, the floor absolutely wasn’t cleaned - first night walking around in socks and they were filthy). We did not have food or trash out, and yet we still had ants. We specifically threw away our food waste or containers in the trash can outside at the fire pit, and our food was either in the fridge or in sealed containers, inside a zipper closed bag. There was absolutely zero hot water Saturday morning from at least 7am until I’m not sure when because we left at 10a, I called the front desk and never got a response. We had our dog with us, which was mentioned ahead of time during booking, and the claim on the website saying there will be a bed and welcome package provided for the dog is not true. There were dog cookies on the front desk counter, but that is all. This was a bit disappointing given how dog oriented this inn appears to be in the website. Overall, the night shift front desk man was helpful but I really don’t think we’ll stay here again given some of the unaddressed issues. There are other dog friendly places in their area.

Property was nice and staff was friendly but the rooms not so much. We checked in, had to have someone change bedding as there was huge yellow/brown stain right on the top middle of the bed. Then we had ANTS. night one we told front desk around 7pm. He said someone would come check. 10:30 no one showed up. We went to bed. Next day went to front desk. Guy sent a maid with a water bottle and soap. She didn't speak English, just kept asking if we need service. No one came with any spray or offered to even change our rooms. Most of the screens are broken. No A/C. It was very dispointing to say the very least.

The only reason I gave four stars on the rooms is because I prefer carpet but other then that for the money this place was well worth the stay. They have 🐕 friendly rooms and the price per night was very reasonable. It's located just past downtown Pacific Grove. Will be back next time we're in town. This side of the peninsula can get foggy a lot so just be prepared for cooler weather.
