Definitely the most unique and beautiful welcome center in the entire country! Beautifully restored mansion from a long past era. A historic treasure. A tremendous amount of information available about local history and destinations. The attendants are outstanding; so helpful and knowledgeable. We did not know about this place until we (thankfully) took a wrong turn. Definitely a destination in itself. Can’t wait to return when we can plan a much longer stay.

My brother told me about this place and listed as a must visit. It actually was at a place where we were needing to stop anyway. The off ramp was convenient and we were able to stop with plenty of parking options. Masks were still required at this time. The facilities were really clean. Normally you can walk around this historic location and see the setup they have inside. However we arrived after the inner gates had been closed so we had to look thru the gates and windows the see the very interesting setup. Very relaxing place to stop. Felt more like a historic park than a rest area. Take a break here if you have a chance!

I have been stopping at this Rest Area for over 30 years and this is the first time I have taken photos. This is a magnificent antebellum mansion built in the 1860’s by Edward Anderson. The day we stopped there were no tours available but the rest area was open and the facilities are always very clean.

This place is gorgeous! My dream home. The house is attached to the welcome center. It is very picturesque. That was very welcoming for a Texan visiting. Come and visit and see the house and it's history.

This place is my favorite stop along my pet transport routes. I hope to visit one day during business hours so I can do the tour. Bring some cat food if you stop, Bless their sweet hearts, there is a feral colony that resides on the property.

So much history in this house. That house has been there well before that interstate was built. Did you know that Harry Truman's Vice President once owned this house. It was more of a vacation home back before that interstate was built on their property. This house was once a grand gathering of ball like dances where bands would play classical music off the front balcony and people would dance together on the front of the building. A long time ago. The last known living person moved out this home in 1964 and it become abandoned and in disrepair. In 1981 a restoration group came in and restored the building as best they could. The roof is just about original as can be with the design's. It's a great place to visit. Come on in and ask for a tour, the ladies are very knowledgeable of this home.

Possibly the most beautiful rest stop (former historic house) with friendly knowledgeable staff to welcome you to the area and point you in the direction of the beautiful things Kentucky has to offer. A delight for weary travelers and adventure seekers alike.

Great resting place on the long travels. Spoke with the sweetest staff lady she is 84 & still working. We talked about the world events & technology. She reminded me of my grandmother. The vending machine had good coffee & clean restrooms.

An elegant piece of history repurposed as a Welcome Center and a tourist attraction. I was a little underwhelmed by the staff on the day that I visited. I left feeling less than welcome, but the building itself and the tourist information inside still made the stop worthwhile.

Pretty grounds. Really nice & clean restrooms. Well keep up. When leaving saw employee picking up trash on the grounds that may have blow there. Nice to see it been taken care of. Lots of handicap parking spots. The side we parked on, had 2 steps to step up on to, to enter the building, thank goodness there was a rail to hold on too.

Beautiful area for a rest stop. Has vending and pop machines and is the Welcome center for Kentucky. Has a pet area to potty your dogs and walk around. There is a 4 hour limit on parking if you plan to sleep in your car.

This is hands down the nicest and cleanest rest area we have ever stopped at. Bathrooms were extremely clean and even had fresh flowers in there. There is a beautiful little garden to walk around through and a good variety of vending machines.

Spend some time out of the car a take the tour. Supposedly there is a little girls spirit there, NOT a bad one. There is a photo on the wall of her but you cant see her face, arm, hands or legs??? Also meet a real HERO there he spotted and called in a terrorist who was caught thanks to his info. He also helped me with a minor car repair. Just stopped to use the restroom but ended up staying 2+ hrs. Thanks had a great time there.

Beautiful facility and grounds to stop for info and have a picnic! The restrooms were clean. The info center had more lots of maps and information for Paducah and all of Kentucky. Lots of publications for all sorts of attractions: parks, museums, lavender farms, horse rescue farms, etc.

This was so worth the stop. How can you beat it. A 19th century old private home being used now as a welcome center? ! A former V.P. of the USA. Beautiful home and authentic furnishings. P. S. Look at the brochures in the lobby... There's a phone number for a personal tour of the Tilghman house!

This is a neat Welcome center and historic building. We were not planning to stop here, but at one of our stops in Illinois the travel assistant told us we should stop. Glad we did, made for a neat photo op for the family.
