You get what you pay for. This is absolutely not a luxury hotel and never pretends to be. However, when we arrived our room was pretty awful. It was damp, moldy and hadn't been cleaned properly. The very bright, stark light in the room highlighted all of this. We went to reception and asked them to clean it, which they did, so I cannot fault them for that. The bed was ok, but not great and there was no fan in the bathroom to stop everything fogging up when you use the shower. Breakfast was pretty good and all you can eat. Lots of choice and decent quality food. The staff were great! When I asked for the room to be cleaned they were straight on it and very apologetic, and they were really cheerful and helpful throughout our stay.

First of all staff lovely. Place clean. So close to the seafront. Downsides Rooms so so so hot. Fan provided but didn't do much. When first arrived children needed toilet so used disabled downstairs as couldn't check in yet. No toilet paper for the two days were there. Or soap in that bathroom. Final grumble no hand sanitiser in any of the containers. Tried to use these when no soap in toilet.

We checked in late and thee night reception staff were the friendliest and most helpful people we encountered all holiday. Kudos to them! Room was clean and the staff were nice and smiley in general whenever we passed them. The location is brilliant, right next to the sea. Although it is worth noting that if you're bringing a pet that the closest beaches do not allow dogs until after September 30th. We walked about 15 minutes to Goodrington beach though and our golden retriever had the time of his life playing with all the other pups!

This is the most awful hotel I’ve ever stayed in. On arrival in the room there was a blood stain on the duvet. Had to go to reception on 4 to ask for it to be changed. Eventually after 2.5 hours from arrival it was changed. The staff really didn’t care. There were extremely drunk people the the bar area. The hotel claim they were guests but personally I thought they were homeless people and Travelodge are taking in homeless people. The smell of drunken people in reception and bar was awful. We were booked in for 2 nights but we left after the first night because we didn’t feel comfortable or safe there. I complained to customer services and asked for a refund for the second night which cost £74. All I was offered was a free breakfast on my next stay but after this experience I will never stay with them again so pointless. I complained again and was offered only £25 compensation which I still think is poor. This company doesn’t care about their customers, it’s all about money and nothing else.

Very friendly willing staff, brilliant power shower. very clean room plenty of towels, two large ones which were very useful if you need to wash your hair,. Breakfast was good except the was bacon but no crispy bacon.Evening meal was very good much nicer that I was expecting. A member of staff helped me with the WI FI which had a very strong signal. You do need to pay for parking using a ticket machine and a member of staff was very helpful in assisting me with this. Very close to the beach, 1-2 minutes walk. Thank you very much

Reading the reviews, we wondered if we had made a mistake after booking. Yes, we had a couple of issues with our room. These issues were put right straight away, the lovely Debbie and her staff were absolutely amazing by making sure we were satisfied with our stay! Thank you to you all. We will definitely see you again! 😃👌

Not bad. Fairly standard Travelodge fare. Room was clean and tidy, and seemed pretty modern. Bed not the most comfortable but acceptable. Main problem was the room was stiflingly hot - thankfully a fan was provided in the room but that only just made it bearable. There is no air conditioning and the window only opens about 10 cm so very hard to actually reduce the temperature. Food at dinner was OK and reasonable value, not high quality but acceptable. The ‘meal deal’ is a bit of a con as half the menu has a supplement charge added on. Service was a bit slow. Breakfast food was much better and better value. Location is quite nice in the sense it’s a bit away from the main hustle and bustle so fairly quiet. It’s convenient for the sea front but isn’t as close to the train station as the description of ‘in walking distance’ leads you to believe! Overall, not bad at all and a fairly good choice if you want a basic stay with a reliable idea of what you are going to get.

We found staff extremely helpful and pleasant throughout our stay. Debbie on the reception desk went above and beyond with help and advice. We found our stay exceptional, varied amount of food and lots of choice. We would definitely use you again. A great stay

On arrival which was 3 hours early we went in to reception and was greeted by a very jolly and pleasant lady named Debbie who told us we would probably be able to check in an hour early. In the morning on our way to breakfast we asked Debbie if the open top bus had started to run yet although she wasn't sure she said she would find out for us and she did. She also told us to buy a single ticket and not the all day ticket as if we only intended to go into Torquay & back then a single ticket their and a single back would work out cheaper.

Not very decent breakfast choices. Repeated menu everyday. You have to pay for the wifi. No room service. They don’t change the sheets everyday. The toilet smells awful maybe cause the exhaust isn’t that good. No AC. Only good thing is that location is accessible to everything, beach, pier, food, bar

Basic room, but everything for a short stay. Nice and clean. Very close to Paignton sea front. Staff welcoming. Bar area part of restaurant so no comfy seating.

Stayed here for 2 night. Debbie on reception was very welcoming and informative. She checked us in slightly early, we were on the first floor in room 203. Perfect family room, one double and one single which I was expecting and although we co-sleep he happily played with his toys on the second bed. It’s a standard Travelodge, a little far from the town centre, train station, shops and restaurants but fine for a 1 night stay. Seconds from a dog friendly beach. I would stay here again once my son was older if I needed a cheap room. Apart from Debbie checking us in we received no other service, no friendly smile or conversation when coming and going

We love travelodges but this one is a bit tired. Room was OK but the upholstery was threadbare is places. Shower was good. Lighting was either bright or off. Even the bedside lights were bright. Great location.

Room was dirty. Bits of crisps on the floor. Towels not changed over 3 night stay. Key card had to be reprogrammed every night as receptionist said was company policy. ??? Car park small with limited parking. Beds very uncomfortable. Unfortunately I won't be stopping here again. Location 10 to 15 minute walk to main attractions in Paignton.

Had 2 rooms booked and wanted close together. One room was ready the other wasn't but after about 15mins we were re-roomed and all was good for the remainder of the stay. Had an issue with the ticket machine too but an engineer was there and said all was good and got evidence in case of any issues.

The staff were excellent. Breakfast was waiting for plates, had to eat breakfast with spoon and knife limited forks available waiting for food to come from the kitchen, dirty tables, the 1 staff member working in the dining area was run off his feet and tried his best in the full dining area.

Ok for a short stay. Staff friendly and room clean. Didnt have breakfast but others in our party said it wasnt great. 2 nights was enough think you'd want a bit more luxury for any longer. Location is good right on the seafront and a 10 minute walk to bars and resteraunts.

Room was ok but staff were unprofessional, when asking them questions got mumble replies, waited 15 minutes for staff to see us in morning to allocate us one of the 10 tables spare then once we got food had to wait 10 minutes for forks whilst food had gone cold. Strange man hangs about in entrance to building dressed as retired skateboarder drinking carling and vaping at 9am in the morning with his travelodge ID on then goes back in to do his job whatever it was never worked that out.

Staff really friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and practical for use didn't have to worry about any disability equipment as it was all ready installed. Could not fault our stay

Very accommodating staff. Helped with parking matching (thank you!) and found a room with a sea view. Lovely location near the seafront. Extremely comfortable beds and hotel

I do get the negative feedback about rooms being too hot . But to be fair how many of us have air con at home???...parking is an issue but its not the hotels fault as its owned by another company.I witnessed very young members of staff working extremely hard in cleaning and breakfast duties.. and to be fair they do need some slack.! I thought all the staff we're lovely and will definitely stay againxx

Had an amazing stay. Everybody on the staff including Joan, Becka, Jake, Patrick, Debbie, and others (including the cleaning staff) went out of their way, to be so kind and helpful to us during the several days that we were in Devon. We felt really welcome and quite at home in our comfy room. Thank you to everybody for our wonderful time. We will be back very soon. Kindest regards. Lorraine and Rob.

The hotel it’s self you get exactly what you pay for. It’s clean etc. The staff however need to rethink their profession in hospitality. On check in the receptionist was slouched in her seat, didn’t look up once, mumbled something and passed me my room key. When asked when breakfast was ‘ I just said’ Breakfast- guests were waiting 15 mins to be seated with staff going in and out of bar. I eventually asked someone ‘ please can we sit down’ the response ‘ just wait there’ Breakfast was cold, no cutlery and why came to light while we was sat down. All the breakfast staff were in the car park having a sudds fight and using cones to jump on. When we was checking out my partner was outside in the car park a member of staff in uniform was drinking a can of beer -0930am

Stayed here one night for work. It is a small car park but had enough for us while we were there, it is £7 for 24 hours. The room was very clean and had everything we needed, however it was very warm in the room even though the heating was off and we had the window open (personal preference I know). There was a nice grassy area out the back to take my dog out, however you are within seconds of the beach for a better walk. We ate from the bar in the evening, both having the burger, chips & drink meal for £8 and it was very nice. Will definitely stay again.

Quite disappointed to find that we had to wait 45 minutes to check in. Breakfast was lovely. Didn't like the comment that was made when we looked at giving out room number for breakfast. I had prepaid for this when I booked the room, but when my husband told them we had already paid, there was a sarcastic comment that all guests were saying this since their systems were down and there was no way of checking!

Brilliant location! It's a shame that the parking was an absolute nightmare!!! Paid for a week and was only able to get a space once! Had to park elsewhere and pay again. Rooms weren't very clean, and the little fan in the room is no where near good enough during this heat! Staff were nice and the breakfast was decent, but would not stay here again.

Great location on the sea front!! The service was once of the finest i have had at a travel lodge. Any request was greeted and assisted with a no problem attitude The draw back as i went in the summer was there was no air con. The room must have been in the middle or late 20 degrees. So we had to borrow a large fan from the family and re shower at theirs for the wedding we was attending. Many guests found it heavy and too much to be in the room during the day. And on arrival seagull poo on the window..

Stayed here for 4 nights this week. Was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews online. When we arrived we we're greeted by the lovely Debbie who was SOO helpful. Infact, all the staff I spoke to we're really lovely. The rooms are a little small and often felt quite warm and stuffy but we had a fan in the room to keep us cool. They we're always clean and tidy though so we we're happy. Breakfast was good but a little basic but again like the room it served its purpose as we weren't in the room very long, we went out and explored. The main issue is the parking. You pay £7 for 24 hours but not always guaranteed a space. We we're lucky and only struggled 1 day. I think for a short stay its a good place to consider.

Location is very good with nice beaches near by (Preston) and walking distance from Paignton pier. Room is basic but comfortable. It can get quite hot as there's not air-conditioning. Staff are very friendly and breakfast is good, with many options.
