One of the best free walking tours I’ve been to around Europe, and I’ve been to many. I like informative and educational tours and this one totally hit the spot for me. No spoilers needed, but this 2-2.5h tour is rich in cultural and historical content, presented by a super-guide Marco in an engaging and well structured way, in fluent English. Well researched tour covering historical context of Palermo as a city, arts, architecture, Sicilian culture, local customs, street life, jokes..also top tips for restaurants etc which my local friends confirmed as places to go to as well. Bravo Marco, keep up the good work!

Amazing introduction to the city! I had Marco as tour guide and he was excellent. He told us interesting facts about Palermo and Sicilian culture as well. He was informative and funny, and answered all our questions. He gave us many food suggestions. I would totally recommend this tour. Thank you Marco!

Best guided tour ever! Local, fun and full of insider tips. Marco is super fun and an authentic story teller. The best of all is that he grew up in Palermo, so there's noone better to tell you all about the inside jokes and anecdotes of the city. At the end of the tour you'll have a great list of restaurants to visit suitable for all budgets. We already tried a few of those recommended places and food there is amazing. We totally recommend Freely walking tours and street food tours! You'll definitely want to come back to Palermo after this tour.

Great tour and guide! Marco is knowledgeable, entertaining and was inclusive of all participants on the walk. I would recommend doing this tour at the start of your trip, though I had already spent a few days in Palermo and I saw some new places and learnt a lot so it was a nice way to finish off in this great city too. Definitely one of the best walking tours I’ve been on. Thank you

Marco was absolutely wonderful. He was very knowledgeable, funny and personable. I couldn’t believe that this tour was free! I would have paid BIG bucks for him to be my tour guide (yes, I’ve traveled much around Europe & I know how much tour guides charge.) We had a very enjoyable, easy going tour and his love of Palermo was contagious. He shared so much information on the art, culture, history and food of Sicily. Thank you so much for sharing your enthusiasm with us. I fell in love with Palermo & I will be back!

TL;DR: The description of this tour is 100% accurate + bonus points for Marco being an absolute delight. With this tour you get an introduction of Palermo through the eyes of a local, where you discover the gems hidden in the backstreets and you get recommendations for places to eat, drink, do, not do. There wasn't a dull moment during the tour, though the best thing I took out of it is a truly authentic Sicilian bakery, which has the most delicious pastries I've ever had. To learn where it is, just take the tour. 🙃 To top it off, Marco is an absolutely lovely guide who makes your experience not only engaging, but personal. And bonus - if you're a solo-traveller, this is a great tour to meet like-minded people.

Fantastic walking tour around the old town of Palermo. Marco (our guide) is a local who has been working in the touriam industry for many years so really knows his stuff! The first half of the tour we talked about the local culture / people / food.. and the second half was a historical account of Palermo - really interesting.. Marco introduced us to some of his local friends and shared lots of really handy links for restaurants and other things to do in the city once the tour ended. Highly recommend!

10/10 recommend this tour! Marco was a great guide! I really enjoyed the laidback tour! It was filled with stories, so many helpful tips and stories, and was such a great tour to meet people. You get to see a different side of Palermo that’s out of the touristy way and feel more like a local:)

The orientation tour with Marco was great fun and a perfect thing to start you visit to Palermo. We walked alongside the things you need to see in Palermo and got the important information about the city, which is beside some historical information and the most important buildings where to find got places to eat :) definitely gonna try some of them!

We did the Palermo food tour. We found the Tour guide in front of the Massimo Theater, and luckily we were able to join the group last minute. For what you eat I found this tour a bit too pricey (€59 p.p). Is mostly street food/ basic snacks but our tour guide did her best to maintain a good vibe providing a bit of historical context, and explaining the issues regarding trash and dirt in the city. Sicily is a big island so you can also try diverse dishes and food all around. What I liked the most was the interaction with other group members from different countries!

We enjoyed the tour very much. Our guide was pleasant, knowledgeable and funny. He is passionate about his city and with an engaging communication style, he leads an informal tour of the city, highlighting the rich history and relevant facts about Palermo. I personally enjoyed listening to all the details about palermo/Sicily and how the local people celebrate and live day to day life. Definitely an excellent tour to join!

Excellent walking tour by Marco. Don't think twice - his is the walking tour of Palermo you want to be on - paid or 'free'. Lots of stories, local tips, history and beautiful Palermo back street surprises. We never felt we were just another group of tourists on a walk - and we were a big bunch. What a Maestro. You can tell we enjoyed it! Highly recommended! PS I hope the fish merchant in La Vucciria forgives you for us standing in his parking spot when he arrived in his car - and then you saying that it was another fist supplier that was the best - rather than his!!!!
