The
Can
Casasayas
building
and
the
Menorquina
pension
are
twin
buildings,
declared
Assets
of
Cultural
Interest
and
Historical
Heritage
of
Spain.
Modernist
style,
with
a
clear
"Art
Nouveau"
tendency.
They
were
built
between
1908
and
1911,
by
the
architects
Francesc
Roca
Simón,
(Palma
1874
-
Madrid,
1940),
who
directed
the
works
in
the
first
phase
and
were
finished
under
the
direction
of
Guillem
Reynes
Font
(Palma,
1877
-
1918)
.
At
first
they
were
intended
to
be
used
as
a
boarding
house,
but
eventually
they
were
buildings
for
residential
use.
In
1909
there
was
an
intention
to
join
them
by
means
of
a
high
pass,
but
finally
the
Palma
City
Council
denied
its
authorization.
In
2010,
they
underwent
a
profound
and
necessary
reform.
They
deserve
your
visit
and
contemplation
as
two
exponents
of
modernism
in
Palma.
