Noisy and Dirty, the rooms on the first level are too noisy (they have the rooms above the events room where you can hear rumbles all night) you will be disappointed to pay $250 for those conditions, the property is not well maintained, the corridor walls are dirty and scratches, the doors do not work well and the glass in the pool area is dirty, the breakfast is not good, so I recommend having breakfast outside. The only nice thing they have is the reception and lobby area but I do not recommend staying in this hotel since it does not correspond to a 5-star hotel, and it does not correspond to quality/price.

The hotel itself is gorgeous! A historic hotel building, it's been renovated beautifully. The public spaces are wonderful, I particularly loved the swimming pool with a stunning view across the old town across to the modern. The best location at the heart of Casco Viejo. We had such fun walking to bars and restaurants in the evenings. Easy rides with Uber pretty much everywhere in town. Very clean and perfectly maintained hotel. Professional and courteous personnel. The breakfast buffet is excellent, absolutely worth adding it at check-in if your rate does not include breakfast. The only thing we did not love was the room itself. The rooms facing the inner courtyard have very little daylight. And our room for some reason was extremely cold when we arrived (+17.5C!). The room temperature / AC is system-controlled so you cannot easily and quickly adjust it. We got help but it took more than 24 hours to arrive at a comfortable room temperature. Next time, I'll book a room facing the street, one with a balcony.

Its a very pretty hotel. Clean and somewhat comfortable. But for the price, I expect a decent sleep which is impossible to get here. Its VERY loud. Either from events in the first floor or the parties outside. Toiletries are horrid too. Im pretty sure you can get a better place for what Central Hotel costs. There is really nothing unique or a legitimate advantage to staying here. Go elsewhere

I had an injury during my stay at the Central Hotel of Panama and the way the situation was handled by the manager currently working was beyond disappointing. Due to this injury that occurred in their property, I will be left with a scar in my face, out of pocket medical expenses, time wasted and to top all of this I am currently pregnant. There was no heartfelt empathy after the accident. I was not able to eat or drink properly due to the 4 stitches I had to get due to their shower head breaking and piercing my lip while I was trying to shower. There was no comp reimbursement for ruining my vacation (2nd day being in Panama) and I have yet to hear back from upper management after sending several emails about this matter. Overall, disappointing stay and awful management. I will not be staying in this hotel ever again.

Terrible experience. I would highly suggest avoiding this hotel and spending your money elsewhere. I made a reservation on booking.com and made a note on the reservation that i would be arriving late at night (around 1 AM local time). When I arrived at the hotel at nearly 2 am after getting off a flight there was no one there and we needed to knock on the window to get in. Once we were inside and I tried to check in, an extremely rude, condescending and overall insufferable man named Carlos could not find the reservation. After being on the phone with both Booking, then Carlos being on the phone with booking.com, almost an hour later we hadn't gotten anywhere. And I remind you this was all happening now after 2 am when all we wanted to do was get to the room and sleep. Carlos refused to honor the reservation despite seeing the confirmation email and speaking with the booking.com representative and then said the only way for us to get a room was to create a new reservation (we already paid for the booking reservation). When I accepted, since that was the only option, he tried to charge me a rate that was higher then my booking.com rate. When I immediately noticed he quickly lowered it (so shady). It was a nightmare and our treatment by the staff only exacerbated the terrible experience. DO NOT STAY HERE.

The hotel is at a very nice and safe location. The hotel has been beautifully renovated. However, it is expensively priced for the service that you get. The hotel has charged me twice. I am still trying to get an answer from them as when they will cancel the charges that were made by mistake and they haven’t gotten back to me. At the front desk when I started asking why we got charged twice, they got mad and we never really got an answer. I have 2 charges on my credit card that are duplicate. Finally, I don’t really recommend the hotel because it is overly priced for the service you get.

No potable water in the room, needed to take my medication and brush my teeth They charged $7.49 for a tiny bottle of water. Front desk was rude about it and laughed while getting my change for this ridiculously small bottle of water. Had to walk several blocks with luggage to get a car to leave as the streets around it were closed. Was disturbed in the room by a staff member unlocking the door to come in and check the mini bar. Called front desk to ask about check out time. Was told 12:30, got a call at 12 from the desk saying I had to leave right then. Used to be a great place, not anymore.

Our room was comfortable and clean (we had one at the back, which may have helped with any noise issues). The included breakfast was decent. The pool was nice, although crowded on the weekend afternoons and both times we did not get a lounge chair. Service at both the pool bar and lobby bar were a low point. While we did eventually get alcoholic drinks service it was impossible to get a glass of water even though it seemed clear the staff understood what we wanted. Location was excellent. Lobby was a nice spot to chill for a bit, with live pianist or guitarists.

Loved this hotel. The staff is very accommodating and helpful. English is okay. We also enjoyed the restaurant very much. When we arrived there was live piano. Taking one star down as they charge for EVERYTHING including their services of hospitality too without asking you!

This place has a few problems. But let's begin with what's good about it. A great location in the old town to explore on foot. Pretty touristy area but much more to do than downtown in my experience. The staff is very helpful, you can get so much helpful information from them. I don't understand why people aren't swimming in the rooftop pool, we were using them almost as our own exclusive pool because no one else was in there. The view from your room would be pretty good if it's facing independence square. Pretty amazing views from the rooftop pool too. Now the bad, hotel's design for rooms isn't human centered, or did any user experience check. Water stoppers at the sinks weren't working, their default position was closed and the handle wouldn't open them up. We finally had to take them both out. Shower design is set up that water leaks out the entire time we showered, so we had 2 towels on the floor and could only shower for a limited time. TV only worked the first night and then the software stopped loading. TV is on a floating wall on the foot of the bed, there's a full-size mirror that was hung right in front of the wall. So you have a mirror but you can't actually stand in front of it because the wall is there. Things like these make me wonder if designers even thought that actual humans would stay here. The church in front rings the bells every 15 minutes. The square area is so busy and you can hear music all night long. Also there's a government building in the front and we saw a protest when we were there. During the weekend, a lot of roads around it were closed for some sort of event and Uber to pick us up couldn't make it for almost half an hour trying to find a way in. They were also setting up the stage with loud music, but we were leaving so it was alright for us. The place is quite a bit far from the metro if you'd like to take it downtown. Breakfast was alright, quite a bit of typical American stuff. In conclusion, you'll have an ok experience at this hotel. It looks good, the pool is nice, the staff is so helpful, and the location is nice. But might not be comfortable.

The room was not the same as booked according to the photo shown. There was only a chair and there was no table. The windows let the light come on, specially the one in the bathroom, and are not suitable for such a busy street. They let the noise pass through either from the endless traffic, the street vendors or the people talking, laughing. The hotel is beautiful, colonial style and a very spacious area for breakfast or by the bar. The staff in these areas and in the restaurant are very friendly and give a good service. The problem is the pianist playing all day and then the guitar playing in the evening. The music is going on from morning till night and it's too loud!! If you think you can relax in your hotel bar or having your breakfast in peace talking to your partner, forget it!! It's too much noise and repetitive piano music. We had to go out for lunch or drinks because it was impossible to stay there and talk or relax. The rooftop is really nice but you can't be there either. It's too hot!! If I ever go back to Panama,I wouldn't mind to stay in Casco Viejo again but not in this hotel.

I went as an external to the spa of hotel central (the spa is called sentits7). My husband and I booked a relaxing massage of 90 minutes, which was great, except for the fact that one of the masseuse had a running nose, was coughing, dry throat, and did not wear a mask during the massage. When asked, she said she had an allergy and apologised. What was extremely disappointing was that after telling the reception about this incident (in our opinion the masseuse would have had to wear a mask and explain that this was an allergy from the beginning) the personel did not offer us anything as an apology. For a hotel that claims to be 4 stars and high standards, very disappointing. Would not recommend

Can’t think of anything bad to say about this place other than the parrots across the street from our room. Other than them, it was a 10/10. Service was excellent from start to finish in all areas of the hotel. Our room was lovely, the bed was soooo comfortable (and I’m a bed snob). The piano & violin players in the lobby/restaurant were such a nice touch. Breakfast was great & had everything. Pool was nice. The whole place was just perfect, made it hard to leave.

Amazing staff and location. Everyone was super helpful during our stay, especially Betsy, who helped us so much. Our only complaint is there is going to be some noise as it is right in the center of old town. If you are a really light sleeper and need to have complete silence, then you might prefer a different spot.

Centrally located. Clean and beautiful. Rooms were very accommodating and updated. Very pleasantly surprised. Now the criticism but it’s more for informational purposes. The lobby is pretty and the history of the hotel is fascinating. This become a tourist attraction. Especially being in the heart of the town square. Lobby does become overwhelmed with noise and tourist coming in to cool off and take pictures. It’s also a hot spot for wedding and sweet 15 photo shoots. I didn’t have a problem at all, but I can see how security can be better. Banquet hall is on the 4th floor for events. Elevators are not key access only. Pool is easily accessible to non hotel guest. I would definitely stay here again. I would love to mention 3 staff members of your hotel. 1st. Helena, spa masseuse. Absolutely a master of her craft. Front desk : Alfredo. Very warm and attentive. Thank you for the provided service. And lastly, the bellhop, Rene. Constantly smiling and super eager to lend a hand. I’ll see you soon! Rene S.

This was a beautiful hotel and also located in a central place in Casco Viejo...The rooms were very clean. They also have a nice restaurant downstairs and on the forth floor. Breakfast was included with our stay.

Hotel is in an excellent location. The rooms are small but comfortable. My main issue is that many of the room are interior rooms into a handful of courtyards with no light and the windows don’t open. One of our rooms faced into the main hotel atrium. You could not open the blinds without someone being able to look in. In addition the piano or violin was played both in the evening and mornings on the lobby floor of the atrium and the sound carried into the rooms so from 10am onwards until after dinner, you could not escape the noise even while in your room.

There is a singing musician whose voice can be heard all day and all night. Therefore bring ear plugs. The room and bed is comfortable and the breakfast is very tasty. Excellent location.

Excellent location, and the staff is very helpful (especially Jose). One warning if you book through Chase with reward points: the "Double Premium" room is shown with two beds, but the hotel gave us one bed. Fortunately Jose was able to move us to a room with two beds.

We had lunch at Central Hotel. The food and service were excellent. The restaurant is beautiful with various table accommodations and private dining areas for celebrations or meetings. The staff were educated about the history of the hotel and the region where it is located.

Superb historic hotel. Recently renovated. Best location in the old town . Ask for a room with a balcony. Overlooks the historic streets. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. For some reason the main door was opened for most of the 3 day stay while the AC was blowing full bore , waste of energy and the lobby was generally too warm and humid. Just trust that's been fixed.

Excellent! Is the best way to describe my stay at Central Hotel. Its proximity to nightlife and daytime happenings is perfect! The staff were so attentive and engaging, especially Carlos and Marca! Most local areas of interest were a short, reasonably priced Uber ride away!

The hotel is located in a premiere area of the historic district. It is a beautiful hotel. I just want to know that while the rooms are beautiful they are very small especially if you are sharing with another person. There really isn't anywhere to put your luggage except on your bed. We dined at a private room with our tour group and I have to say that the food was not very good. Probably a great place to stay but not necessarily a great place to eat.

We enjoyed our stay in the Central Hotel Panama Casco Viejo. 🇵🇦 The staff was very nice and fast service. The location was perfect, close by everything. It's in Central Casco Viejo, and there are many restaurants around and a beautiful chapel right in front. Very safe, and you do see many police around this area.

Wonderful experience all around! Starting with the friendliness of the staff who were extremely helpful tracking down a lost bag, to the front desk receptionist who not only remembered my name, but also reminded me about a credit I had with the hotel. The rooms were modern and clean and the common areas were well manicured. To top it off the restaurants were fantastic and worth the visit, even if not staying at the hotel. Truly a 5 star experience and I would recommend anyone staying in Panama to stay here.

This is a party part of the city, and no one cared to explain that the hotel had been booked by a wedding group of what it seemed a thousand. People were all over the place in the hallways stairs restaurant and the whole ground floor got converted into a disco. The music was so loud that the walls and floor reverberated until 5:30am. Don’t think you are coming here to rest. Forget that! Don’t drive here either the traffic jams are espectacular and you can get a 2000 dollars parking ticket. Use the valet, call ahead from the airport and ask if there is parking or a wedding at least you can buy a wedding present and join the party because there will be no chance you will sleep. The place is beautiful but the walls are made of particle boards so the noise caries. Bed quality Reno for the price we paid for a suite and a normal room. Only the omelet lady had a good service attitude (service with a smile) not much to ask. I always wished to stay here, live the history behind the place and the area and lived here when I was 2 years old so for me is even more disappointed that bad service and bad quality is rampant in this area.

Great hotel, loved our stay. Ideal for weddings, weekend get aways, staff are very attentive and we'll trained. They made us feel very welcome and always offer the mile extra to make the guests feel welcomed. We stayed as a family of four with young kids and was great

Fabulous location in the old town with plenty of interesting cafes shops and restaurants nearby. Comfortable beds with good aircon. Nice little rooftop pool. Breakfast is disappointing. Always running out of basics despite plenty of staff doing nothing much. Every day had to ask for butter then after five minutes a few portions would appear like they were gold dust. On the second day they ran out of English breakfast tea. A hotel.of this class really ought to aim a bit higher.

Super hotel centrally located in Casco. Management and staff work to engage with guests, respond to needs, and make recommendations. Special call outs to Tony at the door, Reynaldo at Concierge and the General Manager. <br/>Rooms are modern and clean. Maid service is conscientious. The free breakfast is very good and made better by the omelette station.

Great hotel in the heart of casco! Walking distance to everything. Beautiful rooms and big bathrooms. The roof top pool is a bonus too!

This is a very interesting hotel. The service there is one of the best around Casco (the old city of Panama City). The rooms are very new but lacking some characteristics. The building is super beautiful, and also the pool on the rooftop. The breakfast that being served along with room is basic, and not that tasty. In overall a good experience, with very basic rooms, but super good beds.

On the 23 of May 2019 we arrived to Panama. Our flight arrived late to Panama so we didn't check in to the hotel until 8pm. At The reception we were informed that our room was not ready because they only had queen size beds rooms instead of 2 separate beds as we had requested and the floral arrangement that I had pre ordered was sitting in the reception instead of in our room. Every day we took a shower most of the water would spill out of the shower because there's a gap at the bottom of the glass door. Other than that the hotel is a great place to stay.

Of the four hotels I've stayed in in Panama city, this was absolutely the best. The standard rooms are a bit smaller, but (some) have balconies, giving that Caribbean vibe. The interior is classic and very calming, just beautiful. And most of all, the service was absolutely great! At the front desk, Carlos was very helpful and made my stay very easy and relaxed. I had some problems with my room, but it was handled with care and Carlos made sure i could focus on work as soon as possible. I appreciate all the help, kindness and service of the Central Hotel staff.

Absolutely wonderful hotel in the old city of Panama. The pictures do not do it justice. We are so glad we choose this hotel over the American Trade. (The clubs with the loud music are right next to the American Trade.) Central Hotel is in front of a beautiful church a lovely little park and has a friendly roof top pool. The pool is a great size to do laps and has a panoramic view of the ocean, old city and the rest of Panama City. Big thanks to the manager Reynaldo, Franklin and Lyan for making our stay so memorable. We recommend this hotel to all who want comfort and authenticity. Last by not least at 7pm we had a great surprise of live entertainment orchestrated by the Hotel right in front of the room balcony. It was the perfect touch to end our day.

I enjoyed my stay but the hotel has not returned $109 to my account.despite speaking to four members of staff after I vacated which is a month ago . I was promised by Nora that accounts would return my money. I have this in writing but still they won’t return to my account. I would suggest you do not put any money on account at this hotel as you won’t get it back. A Shame as I have stayed there every year since it opened except last year due to covid. They have stopped replying to my emails even though I have names. Now I can see why they haven’t asked me for a review.

Bar review in the square: Almost empty seating, drinks took 15 minutes to arrive. Mojito tasted like anti-freeze. Perrier came with no glass, and when prompted with no ice or lemon. Happy hour 15% discount wasn’t applied until we asked. Weird place.

Great location right in the center of Casco Viejo. The hotel is well designed, though the rooms are very loud and we could clearly hear conversations on the street below. We also had an issue at check in where we went to our room to find a man already inside - the hotel had checked us into an already occupied room. The situation was remedied but could have been rather embarrassing. The breakfast was decent and the rooftop pool has beautiful views.

This place is a nightmare. Wedding going on. We’re in a room facing the lobby and the music is blasting. Don’t expect to sleep. And the service is horrendous. We tried to change rooms and they looked at us like we’re nuts. Find another hotel.

In Casa Viejo, we also stayed in the American Trade Hotel, which all members of our group would recommend over the Panama Central Hotel. Our experience at Panama Central started off rocky with an unfriendly staff member at the front desk. She was rude (in our opinion) and was unable to help answer basic questions about the hotel without snarky responses. We returned to the lobby at a later time to get COVID test (for traveling home) and she again was rude as we asked questions while waiting for the testers to show up. If you do get a COVID test at this hotel, you have to bring the tester into your hotel room to complete the test. You can’t do it outside or in the hotel lobby. The AC only worked in 1 of 3 rooms that we reserved. It was super cold in the one it did work in and the other rooms were hot. In addition, we reserved two rooms with queen beds and one room with a king bed. All rooms had king beds in them and the front desk was unwilling to correct the issue. This hotel is in a good location, but American Trade Hotel is slightly more convenient location. Staff is great and friendly at American Trade Hotel and rooms are significantly bigger. For a similar price, stay at the American Trade Hotel and avoid this one.

It's 10pm on a Wednesday night and between the guitar player in the lobby, and the private party (quinceañera) in one of the meeting rooms on the first floor, this place is loud. It sounds like we're next door to a night club with the thumping bass. The hotel is really beautiful, ideally located and the staff is super friendly and helpful, but the design of the hotel, with a hollow center, acts as an echo chamber. Most of the rooms face the center, so every sound reverberates right into your room. This is our second time here. We stayed 3 nights, did a overnight trip to the Bolanos Island (highly recommend) and now we're back for one last night. This will probably be the last time, because of the loud noise. We picked the Central because of location, and it had a pool. The pool is definitely a nice to have with small kids, but even they complained about the noise. This seems like an easy fix. The daily piano and guitar players should stop by 10pm. During our four nights, they've gone past 11, and the 2 quinceañera parties stopped between 12 and 1am. If you are sensitive to noise, you should bring earplugs, or maybe consider another location.

Best 5 stars hotel overall! This historic hotel at El Casco Viejo has best 5 stars in all services. That includes; restaurant, live music, bar services, and amazing comfortable rooms as the presidential room. Ask for Reynaldo at night and he will make magic to give you that VIP treatment. Alfredo has outstanding customer service skills during check out.

You can NOT beat the location of this hotel. It's called Central for a reason. Walking distance to almost anything in Casco Viejo whether it's food, coffee or shopping. Temper your expectations a bit once inside though. The rooms are small (good for single or couple travelers) and fairly basic but contemporary. Service was decent (Thank you Angel for helping us with the late check out). The location though definitely makes up for everything.
