We didn't stay here but after the amazing dinner experience, we wish we did! The food was PHENOMENAL! Staff was extremely friendly, cocktails in the restaurant and on the rooftop were top tier. It's a very unique experience and one I would recommend to anyone.

Remember to ask for rooftop area. The night view is just magnificent!! The music is good; it makes you want to dance. (We did not make a reservation, but the waiter accommodated us by letting us have the table until the guests who made reservations arrive - smart move, and we appreciated it. So reservation for rooftop is good to do!)

I went to a rooftop bar. Ordered the shot of tequila and two whisky with soda for my friends paying cash. When I was leaving the bar, the barman told me that my account is still open and I own $35+ for the drinks. He called manager, who asked me to pay.I handled my Cc. Be carefull

Such a great atmosphere with delicious food and friendly staff. First off all the restaurant is quite cozy and very stylish. And the waiter who took care of us was very helpful. I ordered mac and cheese with shrimps and it was really delicious. The amount of the portion was enough even for 2 person if you are not so hungry. The prices are average like the almost all other restaurants in Panama. I would definitely go there again.

Ah, Tantalo rooftop. The perfect place to enjoy some delicious burgers and transport yourself back to the 1900s with their vintage-tasting chips! I must say, the burgers at Tantalo rooftop are truly a work of art. Juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. But let's talk about those chips. They tasted like they were cooked in oil that had been used since the turn of the last century. But hey, who doesn't love a little taste of history with their meal?😁😂 The drinks were refreshing and cold, perfect for the hot Panama weather. The staff was also very helpful, although their communication skills could use a little work. Unfortunately, we couldn't pay our bills separately because of this language barrier, but hey, that's just another adventure to add to the list. if you're looking for a rooftop with great burgers and a side of time-traveling chips, Tantalo rooftop is the place for you. Just make sure you bring your Spanish dictionary to avoid any communication mishaps!

Went to rooftop bar for a drink but ended up eating as well. A dj was playing great music, vibe and weather were just right. It was very nice. Always love looking at the art- such fun pieces.

1st: make a reservation if your trying to go to the roofbar. The food was a 10/10. I tried the fried Cajun shrimp & the Cajun shrimp Mac & cheese. So tasty! Bring cash just in case their card machine isn’t working for some odd reason. I’d return though!

The food was delicious. Angelo and the rest of the staff were awesome. Had drinks on the roof after dinner. The vibe was 👌 (didn't stay in the hotel, so I cannot comment)

Nice bar but uhhhh, don't go for breakfast! Had a "latte macchiato" in the smallest cappuccino cup ever. My avocado sandwich was according to their menu with eggplant but it came without. Waiters were not informed about anything, they were slow although there were hardly tables occupied. Food was ok, but little. Prices are way to high for this service. Will not return for food

On vaca in Panama City 🇵🇦 and we needed to visit rooftops!! It was something we accidentally did on our 1st Uber trip to the city and it was the best mistake we made!! I started to panic cuz being in a Foreign country going somewhere by mistake can be traumatic especially if the locals aren't friendly!! So, we ended up here in Old Panama also known as Casa Viejo and I can't remember if we purchased anythg from this location cuz we went to as many rooftops as possible 😅 😳!!! But it was a beautiful sight!! If we had a drink it was a soda & virgin margarita 🍹 😋....then we left for our next rooftop adventure!! I do remember the stagf being friendly and it was a constant dlow of guests!!

Great rooftop bar and restaurant. The menu is a bit limited, but the food is very tasty and reasonably priced for the quality and location. Would not hesitate to return.

Nice design, bad service. Bad food, extremely expensive for what they offer. They should hire a chef also. Overcooked dry eggs. No idea how to make matcha latte. Old cookies. Cappuccino coffee is served in a cup ltl bit bigger than an espresso cup. Uncooked pancakes. We have also paid 146$ for NYE and they had appetizers just for max 20 ppl. Very bad

The food in the downstairs restaurant is absolutely amazing! We weren't expecting much but honestly it was one of the best dinners we have had in PC. Small menu which is good because it means they do those items really well. Taste sensation. Wine was really nice too! Highly recommend.

Reviewing the restaurant only. We had a great experience! The service was impressive; I dropped my napkin on the floor and our server Angelo got me a new one before I even had a chance to pick it up! They also have lots of great vegetarian and vegan options, which seem to be a little hard to find in Panamá. I would definitely recommend the cauliflower and empanadas!

We went to the restaurant and the food was delicious and so did the cocktails. Lovely design on the walls. Even had a swing in the bar area. It's really cool. Lovely view from the roof top, too. Worth the visit

Can't comment on the rooms, but the rooftop bar / restaurant was very pleasant. Being rooftop, you get more breeze, which really helps on those humid days. As for the food and drinks, the wine we ordered was good and the meal was tasty. The service was great, and we had lots of fun with the waiters. It's definitely worth the trip to see the great views of the city skyline at night.

Tantalo (the restaurant) has a cool vibe, fantastic art and creative dishes. Angelo’s service was impeccable. The salmon was delicious, burger a little wet, Mac n cheese a bit bland. Drinks are good. Would come back and hope for slightly more flavorful options.

Waiter staff ANGELO! everything he suggested was DELICIOUS! We enjoyed the ceviche, the passion fruit mojitos and then up to the roof top bar after a delicious passion fruit mousse dessert. Thank you Angelo for helping us enjoy the Tamtalo experience

**Restaurant Only**Food and ambience here is absolutely amazing. Top level view is awesome and it is a vibe. The art in the building is intriguing as well.

Visit their roof bar while in Panama, especially after dark. The view is simply breath-taking. Also it's got a great vibe and really friendly staff too.

I booked one night in this nice hotel after 3 weeks of backpacking in order to have a cozy night of rest before going to the airport, and man was it a huge mistake! I usually sleep well with earplugs (I was in hostels for 3 weeks and never had problems sleeping) but the volume of the music coming from their own rooftop is just too loud, the whole bed vibrates. The music went on til 2am even on a sunday. They should decide if they want to be a rooftop bar with overpriced cocktails (13$ for a margarita) and unreasonably loud (bad) music, or if they want to be a hotel where people can actually sleep. Or maybe the first step could be at least installing better windows.

The Historic District is filled with so many cute shops, hotels, and rooftop restaurants. We loved the historical vibe! We loved our stay at Tantalo Hotel and appreciated the art, hospitality, and food. The rooftop bar has fantastic city views and makes for a fun filled night. While we saw children at the main restaurant I would mark this spot as best without kids.

We didn't stay at the hotel, but we enjoyed an excellent dinner in the restaurant. During a heavy rain shower we took shelter here, at a central point in Casco Viejo. As we liked the relaxed atmosphere and music, we quickly decided to stay - and got rewarded. Octopus, Pollo and Tantalo sliders were delicious, perfectly seasoned and attractively presented. The staff was very friendly. Will dine there again.

Great bar. Was one of the best visiting old town. Bartenders downstairs were exceptional and chiller crowd. Rooftop wasn’t bad but was crowded.

The Roofbar is good, has a nice view and the music is ok. Drinks prices are on the range of medium-high compare with some other rooftops in the area, but is one of the few rooftops that stay open after midnight.

Restaurant Review- Angelo was such a delight and truly offered amazing service. He was kind, personable, and so accommodating. I tried quite a bit of dishes ($75 per person taste menu option) and everything was great. I really loved the atmosphere/vibe and it was a peaceful night eating at the restaurant.

An excellent place to enjoy the food and drinks. The options were plenty for vegetarian and non vegetarian people. The decor was beautiful and restaurant had nice ambience. The drinks were done right.

Did not stay in the hotel but we just popped in for lunch with no expectations. 2 main meals for 20 USD and one of the best meals we’ve had on our travels so far! So tasty and fresh!

Our Airbnb was close by. The appraisers and drinks are great. We visited in November and the rooftop bar was awesome. Cool breeze and nice ambiance and views.

Terrible, a rooftop server took advantage of my friends & I because we do not speak fluent Spanish and over charged us $20 per person when we paid… An absolute scam

Great place with really good food and the perfect drinks to add. A bonus is the amazing open bar on the top with a great view of Panama Citys skyline which looks even better at night time. And remember to be there during Taco happy hour :-)

Really cool hotel with really good bar and restaurant. It is a whole experience to be here. Very colorful. Lots of art. Super cool place. Really awesome view of the city from the rooftop bar.

The rooftop was an amazing experience. The music made it worth it, and the views were exquisite. Servers up there were patient and friendly and could understand our broken Spanish (they spoke English very well). Most of the food was good! Gin drinks were delicious and not too sweet. Can’t wait to go back. One star off for the women working the front door who was pretty rude to me and my friends. Might’ve been because we are Americans (don’t treat foreigners like they are stupid. It makes you look snobby).

Terrible service at the restaurant, the food was tasteless, the music loud and incongruous, we requested a table on the rooftop which they committed to providing but 2.5 hours later of continuously allowing people in they were still saying that there was no room so we decided to venture up to see the view but were treated very poorly up there although we just wanted to give our farewell to the city on our last night. All in all a bad experience from food, to music and service, there were four of us and we all agree on never going back to this place. Panama city has some of the coolest rooftops but Tantalo is definitely not one of them, I don't recommend wasting time or money there.

Fun place to have dinner and drinks with friends. Rooftop bar overlooking the old city and the waterfront city skyline. Great menu and service. I'd come back here.

The most amazing "think out of the box to save the planet " restaurant. They take going green very serious. The food is delicious, the prices in line with the area and you have a art collection to view while you are there.

3 star for the view. Rest of it was strange. Felt like I was in a a bad movie. Fine for beer or VODKA redbull.

Wonderful service. They provided a fresh glass of water when we arrived and showed us the whole hotel and services upon arrival. They arranged a shuttle to the airport which was seamless. When I left my kindle in the room upon, they did everything they could to get it to me. Stefanie at the front desk is particularly wonderful, going above a beyond. Overall, great location, cool vibe and all the amenities.

Cute place. Caesar salad had way too much dressing and was very rich. Chicken sandwich and fries were good, as were the margaritas! Check out the restrooms! Rooftop bar was great, very mixed crowd well priced drinks.

Amazing food, chill vibes, relaxing ambiance! Amazing rooftop experience on our Panama City visit. Our waitress was very helpful and gave great recommendations on food and drinks. I would say this is a must visit spot.

Great vegetarian options! Best fries I have ever had. Their corn ribs were delicious! And the rooftop has a really nice view

Amazing food. Great ambiance. The wall decor is beautiful. The tamarind steak was delicious (although we’ll done. Forgot to ask for medium or medium well — still great tho!) the corn ribs were amazing and we tried the eggplant as well. Lots of vegetarian apps available (although I eat meat i appreciate the variety)

Went for breakfast. Loved the menu. Not a huge menu but unique items. If you love Spanish food, you'll love it. My husband had Fred Flintstone Omelette...was delish!! Service was excellent too.

Food & service at the restaurant was superb. Staff very friendly, ambience is cool, artsy, and trendy. They have a hotel and Rooftop Bar on the same premises. The Rooftop Bar is rated as one of the best in All Panama City!

I didn't stay here as a hotel guest. I came in sort of randomly for a couple of beers. Friendly and helpful staff, nice illumination and high ceilings, clean, fresh smelling, trippy wall murals, reasonably priced bottled beers. I am willing to come back!

The rooftop bar was great! Drinks were perfect, view was amazing. Music was not too loud and he played a wide variety.

This is a restaurant/bar first, hotel second. The workers were all very kind. The room was very nice on a surface level. Very spacious and nice balconies. It was not top of the line clean, however. If you cannot sleep with a lot of noise or you are the partying type, this is not the place for you. I knew there would be noise so I was not bothered but I did not realize there were other options in better locations that are not as noisy. I though noise just came with the Casco Viejo.

This place is amazing. If you like rocking it out through the night until early in the morning this is for you place. The downstairs restaurant will re-nourish you in the morning after a historic night on the rooftop.

I came here several years ago and had a phenomenal ceviche. I was very glad to make it back to Panama today and tried the purple king, and octopus dish. It was excellent!! Highly recommend this place!

Went to Tantalo for a drink on a payday Friday. Crowd was nice, Dj amazing and staff is very kind. Great view and nice breeze. Drinks are not great but the music make it up for that. Highly recommended.

I cannot speak for the hotel, but the restaurant is amazing! They have a great range of interesting drinks, and many types of food, from burgers to sushi. It’s also a very artsy spot, great for pictures!

Old Panama City is a tourist trap but very fun. This hotel was clean and the rooms very spacious. Was disappointed that the hotel rooms had little accommodations such as a microwave, phone to be able to call the front desk, no coffee maker, and no complimentary continental breakfast. When I was looking for coffee in the morning the hotel had coffee but at a price of $4 to $5 per cup. Little to no accommodations at this hotel. Rooftop bar had great atmosphere and great view of the Panama City skyline at night. If you are looking for comfort and accommodations I would not recommend this hotel. If you are looking for a place to lay your head and party only I recommend this place.

This is a review for the restaurant only. Had the ceviche and it was incredibly sour. Also had to pay extra for tortilla chips which is the first I’ve ever seen. It was only okay. Views here were great but would suggest eating something else. My friend had the Mac and cheese with shrimp and enjoyed it a lot

  • 3/5 jay h. 2 years ago on Google
Air conditioning isn’t cool enough. The hotel key has to be in place inside the door for the air and electricity to work. So when you take the key with you the air turns off. The shower had like warm water at best. Very soft bed. Good location. It’s odd that the check in is in the middle of a restaurant. Staff were polite. Room was clean. Wouldn’t stay again.
