Loved this place. Gorgeous grounds and relaxing thermal waters with views of the mountains. As the day comes to an end and the temp drops gets even more magical. We arrived at around noon and grabbed lunch at the restaurant next to the hotel for an authentic experience, it is right next to it so no need for a car (the food is good, inexpensive and very large portions are served). At around 1pm our room, 45, was ready and the kids jumped into the water right away. My hubby and I on the other hand took a stroll around the grounds and did the free trail. After walking the trail to point 15 we came back to the resort. Walking to point 15 gives you views of waterfalls. We enjoyed the thermal pools til about 530 then got ready for dinner inside the hotel, which was delicious. The restaurant opens at 630pm. Note: We stayed in our pool area as the public area was fairly crowded. We were here on a Fri. The hotel has strong wifi. Update: on the morning of check out my youngest was feeling ill. We informed the reception and they quickly sent in a medical professional to our room. Our child was seen and was provided with something to make her feel better - this service was complimentary. This level of service raised the bar to a 6 star 😀

Gorgeous hot springs in a picturesque setting. Surrounded by lush forested mountains, a serene experience is guaranteed. Really nice facility, very clean, well laid out, and well maintained. The water is not as mineralized as some hot springs (a more funky and pungent outburst is always appreciated!) However this experience was wonderful, therapeutic, and top-notch all the way.

Honestly, it’s a bit like heaven on earth here: the fog shrouding the mountains as you glide through hot thermal pools. And if you go mid-week, it’s basically empty. Extraordinary experience, and the food in the hotel restaurant was completely and utterly delicious. The design of the facility is beautiful, and everything is so clean that it was kind of shocking. Can’t say enough about it.

This was the best hot spring I visited in Ecuador. Everything is well maintained, and for just $10 you have access to over 10 pools. The surroundings are very scenic, it is located steps away from a national park.

We had a great time visiting the hot springs. My friends and I got passes because we stayed at the hotel that’s right next to the hot springs park so it was the best bang for your buck! The best thing about visiting papallacta hot springs was the amazing views of all the mountains and volcanos near by! It’s breathtaking and really makes the environment much more intriguing. I spent two nights here in cabin 53. South side cabins woefully outdated - look like they have not been updated in 40 years, though mine did have a beautiful ceiling. (I have no info about other cabins.) No AC or fan so it gets hot in the afternoon. No screen on sole small window so if you open it for relief, insects can get in. Door knob/lock very loose. No soundproofing: at times felt I was practically in the same room with the family of four next door (including two small children). Sink faucet sprays in different directions; probably hasn't ever been cleaned. Arrived at balneario 5 minutes after it opened on a Sunday and it was already too crowded for my comfort so I immediately left. No explanation of what the difference between the balneario and the spa is (both words translate to "spa" in English). Long checkout process with people waiting 15+ minutes in a line of 4-5. Screaming children all day at guest-only pools. I loved going at night and early in the morning, though, as they presumably slept. A few small, inexpensive changes in the rooms could go a long way. Recommend adding a fan to all closets, replacing window treatments, replacing outdated headboards, perhaps painting rooms pastel blue or green. The bathrooms would need to be completely redone though to bring them up to standard. Beds very comfortable. Bathroom functions very well despite being exceedingly outdated cosmetically: good water volume, control of temp and has a clothesline. They provide a large cistern full of drinking water in the room, which I appreciated wholeheartedly as I arrived dehydrated. Strong wifi signal all over property. Pools for guests really nice. Phenomenally tranquil environment in the Andes. Absolutely gorgeous landscaping throughout; whoever maintains that deserves a gold star or two. Restaurant excellent in both service and food. Frederick, who seems to be either the waiter captain or team lead, stands out as a true asset and has everything under control at all times. He and some of the other staff are completely fluent in English if you need it. All the restaurant staff are literally running around working as hard and quickly as possible. Some have complained about the restaurant prices but I thought they were well-matched with the quality and portion sizes. Cannot comment on trail or spa as I skipped them both.
