I stayed there with my partner in late February. Had I physically visited the resort before we booked the dates, I would have definitely cancelled. We are both used to 5 star hotels---this is not one of them. It is also not a 4-star resort. We had a week stay planned, but cancelled after two days. The service was deplorable. The suite we stayed in was overpriced, rundown, (yes, run down even though the resort isn't that old). Nothing worked well. The washer/dryer, the automated shades, and the kitchen wasn't stocked. The management appeared snobby and self-serving, not what anyone would expect from a resort of this caliber. Not sure who manages this property, but they are in dire need of help. After the first two days, we checked out a neighbor hotel, and booked our stay. What a relief to transfer to a resort that met our needs (which aren't much). All we require is a clean room, easy access to their restaurant, pool, workout, workable appliances, and hotel managers, workers, etc., that understand what 'customer service' actually means. If you're thinking of booking a room here, check out nearby hotels first before you book. This is certainly not what it is advertised to be.

Our stay was punctuated by a series of managerial insults. We selected a very expensive suite and were told it had blackout shades, a kitchen and a washer dryer, three of our important must-haves. We were also led to believe that the suite had an extra half-bath. The room was extraordinarily expensive, over a thousand dollars a day, but we justified the expense as a palliative for a long and painful journey. We arrived late after a 690 mile drive and checked into our room. We unloaded our car in about 10 trips through a gate and up steps to our suite, we had a lot of stuff, and started to check out the room. No towels, no tissue, no bottled water, so we called the front desk. Filthy washer dryer, so we cleaned it and let the staff know. No instructions on how to use the power driven "blackout shades" so we called for help. By the way, the shades did not black out anything. They could have, but they were installed about half a foot from the window wall letting light in all around. We also called to inquire about the extra half bath which was a no show to be explained to that only some of the suites had this feature. There were a few more calls. In the morning, we received an email from a marketing guy listing our calls to the desk and suggesting that since we were so unhappy with the room maybe we should leave. We were appalled. We called but were unable to speak to him, leaving a message that we had no intention of checking out early and questioning his dedication to customer service. Later that day he called us and threatened to have hotel security and the local police on hand at our return to the resort to eject us bodily from our room. We checked out 3 days early, leaving with all of our belongings, but several thousand dollars lighter. In all my years in working with the hospitality industry, I have never heard of a guest being treated as we were, regardless of circumstances. We have traveled extensively and have never been treated with such disrespect and arrogance by anyone. We were paying for superior accommodations and service and we were treated poorly. The marketing manager needs a class in customer service. He has no customer service and he has no class. If I were you, I'd avoid this place like the plague. PS: I've read the hotel's response to my comments. It is full of lies. The state of the suite was the reason for the calls, not some alleged flaw in our personalities. The bottom line is that arrogance prevents these people from accepting that their service was decidedly sub par. Stay away!

Mountain Shadows Resort is so peaceful and tranquil. I took my boyfriend for a staycation for his Birthday. We ended up getting upgraded to a room with a patio overlooking the pool and it was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Most pools are extremely noisy but it was so quiet, we slept in and when we woke to open the blinds the next morning the pool was packed with people and we weren't even aware. We definitely didn't want to leave our little bubble and will return again when we need a break or just to hang out with the kids.

Not much to complain about here, we had a pleasant stay. There's a nice pool and the food is decent. There's a nice selection of beer and whiskey at the bar. Service is a little slow all around, but friendly. I didn't golf, but I know that's an attraction there. It was a kid friendly place as well. Shower is somewhat weird for privacy concerns (hope you trust everyone in your room), but spacious and nice inside. Clean rooms and facilities.

My husband and I brought our teenage daughter to Mountain Shadows for Labor Day weekend. The staff were all friendly and delightful. I was honestly surprised by how friendly and accommodating everyone was. The friendliness of the staff reminded me of how I’m treated when I visit Disneyland. They just seemed like they went out of their way to make sure we were having the best experience. When we visited it was too hot for the pool during the day so the pool bar wasn’t open but we were able to swim in the evening when it cooled down a little. I was very impressed by the pool area. They had towels and even sunblock out for everyone to use which I thought was a really nice touch. We’d like to come back in the fall or winter when it’s more lively. We didn’t use the fitness center but we took a look in there and it was really nice. The equipment was newer and very clean. The AC was blasting and they had water and towels. We enjoyed the restaurant several times and had amazing service. We had the same server each time and we were so glad because she was fun, friendly and very knowledgeable. If you visit you have to try the beef tenderloin, it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had and it was cooked to perfection. They also have a great selection of wine and drinks which we thoroughly enjoyed. They have a nice bar with a comfortable lounge area with couches and tv’s. We had drinks there a couple of times, very cozy. We did room service just about every day so we did get a little bored with the food selection after awhile but I think if we were to visit later in the year there might be more choices. I noticed a lounge/cafe near the golf course that was closed, so I think there are more options during peak season when it’s not so hot and people can spend time by the pool or golfing. I was very impressed with how fast the room service was. Whenever we ordered the food seemed to arrive in less than 15 minutes. They have a really nice mini bar with a good variety of snacks and beverages in the room, we noticed that they never replenished ours but I spoke with the manager and it sounds like they would have replenished it if I called down and requested a refill. We wiped out our snacks the day we arrived so I wish I would have called down. They do offer in-room massages though so we took advantage of that. They couldn't do 2 at the same time due to the size of our room (we had a premium double queen) so we had to do them back-to-back, but it was nice that they had the service available. We did wish we had booked a larger room, especially since we were there 5 days. Our room wasn’t small but I think for us it would have been perfect for a shorter trip or maybe if our daughter was younger. Since we were staying 4 nights I really should have booked a suite. It was a well thought out space though was clearly updated. The decor was very swanky and stylish. When we checked in they asked if we wanted a pool view or a garden view, I let my daughter pick and she chose garden view — EXCELLENT CHOICE! It was a beautiful view and we had gorgeous sunsets every night. It was so private too. We really enjoyed the balcony. Sometimes we would see couples in the garden doing engagement pictures or other photos and it was fun to watch. I should also mention that the location is really nice. It was our first time visiting Arizona so we picked the location blindly but we were very pleased. It was far enough out that you had great views out of every window in the resort but it was still close-in so you could enjoy Scottsdale shopping and restaurants. There was a lot to do in the area. We visited the butterfly museum, saw a movie, went restaurants and even went to Medieval times. Overall it was a pleasant trip.

The mountain shadows resort was perfect for our stay for three nights. Although the rates jumped up because there seem to be multiple weddings that we can, we had the best time. The service was friendly and on point, and the food at Rusty's and hearth 61 were fantastic for breakfast. I absolutely loved the decor in our suite as well as around the hotel. The pool was beautiful and the surrounding mountains had a beautiful touch when outdoors. I can't recommend this place enough!!

This resort is absolutely stunning! ❤️🌞 From the moment I walked in I was greeted and taken care of immediately. Stephen at the front desk is amazing! Thank you for the Premium room and 1 pm check out! I will definitely come back. I’m so thankful for this beautiful experience. 5 stars ✨ and above and beyond!

Beautiful, friendly and helpful staff, luxury at its finest. The staff goes beyond reasonable expectations to take care of you. I do not have superlatives that do justice in describing the experience here

Lovely resort with stunning views of the mountains! Let's start with Alexis at the front desk that was so kind and showed us different room options so we could upgrade to the one we really wanted with no surprise! As a result we absolutely loved our garden room with views on the golf course and would have loved to stay longer. Service at the pool was excellent, same with the bar and restaurant, staff is nice and truly cares about you having a great experience. They also have EV/Tesla charging stations in the parking. I would recommend Mountain Shadows to anyone who wants to have a relaxing time 15 minutes driving from Scottsdale. We will come back with my wife if we are in the area.

I don’t usually do REVIEWS but I’m so in love with this place. I can’t help it. I had a great stay at the mountains shadows resort the service its amazing. We got there and got check in so quick. The first room we got was facing the mountain 🏔️ but I really came for the pool and mountains view definitely. My boyfriend went to the lobby and ask if we can be change to another room that has pool/mountain views together. They say yes without a problem and gave us a beautiful 2 bedroom queens. The services by the ppl is exceptional. 💖💕 everyone in this hotel were so nice I’m always will be grateful for this experience l! 10000% recommend

Great attentive staff & sleek modern design. Fairly nice location & landscaping. Not impressed my the inclusions (no free breakfast bar, few perks & the beverages included were not very good at all), bed & linen quality, or room functionality though for the price. Probably will opt for a different resort next time.

Amazing resort, didn’t want to leave!! Location is great and you are within 15-20 mins drive to most shopping and amenities. The area is beautiful for walks and hiking. The Short Course par 3 golfing is very scenic and well maintained. Hotel is modern and seems newly renovated. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Restaurant has great service and offerings. Pool area is amazing with hot tub and a full gym with workout space nearby. Highly recommend!!

Pricey. Amazing views. First time and disappointed when we realized we were given one of the very few rooms with no balcony. We only stayed one night. Wasn’t that busy. Room was nice but not getting a balcony felt slighted. Make sure you ask when checking in. Lesson learned.

We really enjoyed our stay at Mountain Shadows. The resort checked off all of our boxes and more. We had a very relaxing stay, enjoying the beautiful, huge pools each day. Golf was a beautiful experience and very reasonably priced for hotel guests. Little details such as complimentary valet, water bottles, water stations and morning coffee were a bonus for us. Check-in and check-out were a breeze and offered additional items including early check-in and a small fridge for an additional fee. This was useful for us to store some snacks and drinks for each day. Location was on point, near many great restaurants. Walking on Lincoln Dr was also lovely. The views were breathtaking of Camelback Mountain. Rooms were gorgeous, and modern. Service and staff were so accommodating and very, very kind. My favourite part of this hotel was the retro-modern vibe in the middle of a mountain. We can’t wait to stay again!

Had a pleasant stay here for my birthday in June. Staff was accommodating as I had booked a Mountain View room and the first room was on the ground floor and thought the view was great, wasn’t very private. We were able to switch to the second floor and it had equally beautiful views with more privacy. Parking wasn’t an issue either. I would stay again!

Perks of this hotel: beautiful course on property, clean rooms, water bottle filling stations, free coffee in the morning, free parking. Would recommend this resort! It seems like all the rooms open up to the pool, which I didn’t realize until we arrived.

It is an idyllic setting with gorgeous mountain views, clean, spacious rooms, and stellar customer service. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and can't wait to return. Thanks, Mountain Shadows, for such a relaxing stay; we almost didn't want to leave.

Stunning grounds, easy to navigate and delicious food with top tier service all around. I had an absolute blast during my 4 day stay, and cannot wait to be back. This place is incredibly dog friendly as well, my only note is that most of the poo bag dispensers were empty for my entire stay and I saw a few stray landmines throughout the grounds, but I had backup bags.

Great property right between Camelback and Mummy mountains. It maintains some of its mid-century vibe. Rooms are clean and spacious. No refrigerator or microwave. Good amenities and nice bathrobes. The food is fantastic. Enjoyed several meals and each exceeded expectations. There were some miscues and/or crossed wires between staff members but nothing that couldn't be overcome. I think sometimes staff are hesitant to interact because, in the age of entitlement, people treat them badly. The golf course is nicely laid out and well maintained. Non-golfing guests are allowed to walk along the cart path, which is a no-no in golf etiquette. I waited to tee off while listening 100 yards behind, then 100 yards ahead as three women complained loudly about the nerve of a company that charged $50 to ship a $500 purse. There is plenty of walking opportunity that is not on the course. Food and beverages were not available for purchase at the pro shop. Greens fees are high. The pool is fabulous. The ambiance - mountains on each end and palms lining both sides- is exceptional. Food and beverage service is available. The water temperature was very warm and relaxing. The complimentary coffee is nice, but it was far from the room and set up outdoors. There is a gift shop with a pretty good selection of sundries. The clerk was friendly and helpful. We appreciated the complimentary valet parking. The attendants were helpful. I would definitely return.

Beautiful property. The amenities and rooms are gorgeous, the bar is stunning, and the people are friendly. It was also conveniently located to where we needed to be for a beautiful weekend vacation. 4/5 stars because there was some miscommunication regarding coordinating some additional room services. However, Regan, lead concierge, really saved the weekend for me. I can tell Regan works hard and cares about the customers staying at the Resort. We will be back.

This was a great visit! From the great service at the bar by the bartender Montana, and once we went over to the pool we received great pool side service from Bethany. the service was so quick. It felt like once we ordered our drink, it was there with zero wait. Cant get better service than that.

Nice and clean rooms and facilities. Great views, and beautiful landscape and a nice golf course. Awesome, delicious food. Great, customer oriented team members in reception, bars, restaurant, events managers and employees that show they really care about their guests. Definitely a place where I will stay next time I come to the area.

We were planning on getting married at this establishment in Nov 2024. Unexpected to us my now present wife ended up getting pregnant and we had to cancel the wedding as our plans had obviously changed. I get we signed a contract, but we were out $6250 for our deposit. We received an email back from the venue saying they were doing us a favor by not charging us a portion of the catering bill. Keep in mind, well over a year out. My wife wanted to do a pre baby moon there and kindly asked if we could use that money for a stay of a couple nights. We received an email back stating again that would not be an option, but they could look into potentially a discounted rate. At this point it's not worth the time or energy. Whoever may read this in the future, I would hesitate utilizing this establishment as a wedding venue as our experience with this place has been subpar.

I came to Arizona for my birthday weekend! I stayed 4 nights/5 days over Labor Day weekend. The customer service was excellent! They gave us exceptional service while providing us with the necessary information to better assist with our itinerary. We selected the “Immerse Premium King” room. This room was spacious clean, renovated and we had a magnificent view from our room overlooking the pool area. The cleaning service was also too tier, they cleaned our room daily! We didn’t get a chance to eat at the restaurant however, we ordered from the bar. The drinks were great and we were able to take it by the pool and enjoy our evening! I loved staying here, if I come back to Arizona I will definitely stay and may even book a suite!

Hey fantastic coffee experience. Kind of a mix between the fun entertainment of top golf and actual golf. Came out here with my dad had a great time with the service staff definitely walkable probably only need a seven iron a chipping wedge and a putter. A great getaway. Plus they have a pool table in the pro shop if you’re waiting for your round to start. One reason for the lack of five stars is that it was the most expensive round for a four-day golf trip

Stayed here for the first time this past weekend for a bachelorette party. Such a beautiful resort and incredible service! The suites we got were amazing and the staff were all fantastic and provided too notch service for us all weekend! The pool area is absolutely gorgeous and where we ended up spending most of the time throughout the weekend. Loved all the cocktails that we tried at the bar area! The resort has such a fun but still high-end vibe. Can’t wait to come back soon!

Absolutely loved this place. Hoping to be back for more pool side time and maybe splurge on a cabana! Def recommend having dinner across the street at El Churro. Easy walk.

I cannot recommend this place enough! The resort is beautiful, the room is extremely comfortable, and pool is fantastic. We also took some walks around the property just to enjoy the views. The only hiccup was with check in, the last mentioned they have a new card system which caused some issues. The start itself was so nice and relaxing and the food was really good at hearth 61! We're definitely planning to stay again. (Also the "nothing rhymes with orange" chocolate orange martini is SO GOOD. you should definitely try it!!

My bridesmaids and I stayed at this resort this weekend - it was AMAZING! We showed up at 8:30am (ish) fearing that our room wouldn’t be ready. To our pleasant surprise, it was! Check in was quick and easy. The only issue there was the computer malfunctioned and held two $200 deposits for incidentals - a little annoying but no big deal. When we went up to our room we were greeted with a complimentary bottle of wine ( included with our Costco booking). Each interaction with the staff was amazing, with the exception of the server we had at the cabana on our last day. All in all I highly recommend this resort. They are friendly, attentive, and the resort was clean. My family and I will be back.

This place has beautiful views. From the outside when you drive up it might not look that dramatic but the views and the immersion suite we stayed was top notch. We loved the room so much, the decor, the modern and clean lines. My wife loved the soaker tub, the views are amazing! The door to the balcony slides open and becomes part of the room!

My Wife and I never been to AZ before and after staying with Mountain Shadows we will be back for sure! We loved our experience here. The staff was so helpful and happy to help us out. They gave us great recommendations for food and things to do around the area. The room was clean, comfortable, and relaxing. The two pools where perfect for relaxing. We will be back to this hotel!

We stayed at Mountain Shadow for 2 nights this past weekend. We were very impressed by the cleanliness of the lobby, our room and the grounds. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. I loved the infused water dispensers in the lobby and the free coffee at Rusty’s. We had a pool cabana room which I would highly recommend. It was easy access to the pool and we could use our bathroom instead of the public restroom outside. I was skeptical about the shower set up in the rooms. I was afraid it would make the entire room hot/steamy but it didn’t at all! The shower was very spacious and there was a vanity with a stool separate from the sink. We had room service for breakfast on our last day and it was delicious! Highly recommend the fruit plate and breakfast quesadilla. We would definitely stay here again!

A fantastic upscale resort. The food and service is excellent. The Mountain View’s around the resort are beautiful and picturesque. Rooms are nicely appointed with everything needed for an enjoyable stay. I recommend the waffle in the morning and the Hamburger for lunch or dinner. The 18 hole par three course is perfect for honing your short game.

I haven't even stayed at this hotel, but I'm giving it five stars because of two concierges named Regan and Alexis, who went so far above and beyond their normal responsibilities to help me surprise my wife who is staying there for a week for work for our anniversary on Monday! They helped me so much, first looking through their gift shop and eventually finding something applicable on Amazon that could be shipped to their hotel in less than a day - then wrote out a card for me and had it placed with the gift in my wife's room to surprise her! And it all worked perfectly! My wife and I share an Amazon account so I couldn't even use my own without her finding out - so Alexis even made the purchase on her own account after I venmo'd her! Incredibly thoughtful, amazingly efficient and both super nice people! Just needed to shout them both out for their extraordinary efforts and say a huge thank you! 🙏

This hotel provides lovely accommodations and wonderful guest service. Room service was delightful and I really enjoyed the view from my room. My only complaint is about the water temperature for the bathtub. It got just above room temperature. Other than that, my stay was perfect!

Lovely resort! We had family from out of town staying at Mountain Shadows so we joined them. The rooms are clean, spacious, and beautiful - some with full kitchens and eating space. The pool area is very nice - you can rent cabanas and get food and drink service by the pool.

This hotel is alright but not worth the price. The ambiance was very nice but the ceilings were a weird concrete that seemed cheap. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful and checkin was relatively easy. I was not impressed with the cleaning staff because they were extremely loud talking/moving things about/dropping things around 8am when we were still trying to sleep. The elevator smelled like urine and the dog next door was constantly barking. I was told there would be free coffee, when i went to order my coffee, the staff tried to charge me for it but then realized it was a mix up and that I was ordering at the wrong location. Thankfully they were kind about it but a little more communication on where to find the free coffee would have been nice.

Beautiful views, was clean and quiet. I was there for a work conference at a different location so didn't have time to check out pools and other amenities - but did enjoy room service a few times and Rusty's outdoor patio for breakfast as well as a prenatal massage. The really notable part of my stay was the front desk customer service, particularly from Sydnee - she was phenomenal. Friendly, quick to respond, helped me with a few special requests during my stay (arranging massage fairly last minute, helping receive a delivery, etc). She is excellent at her job and I hope this gets back to her supervisor!

One of the best resorts in AZ. This is my third time staying this year and will definitely be back. There are no details left untouched here, from the 5 star cuisine at Hearth 61 to the expansive rooms adorned with local art. You are in for an amazing experience at Mountain Shadows.

If you're looking for a great resort hotel in the Phoenix / Scottsdale area, I highly recommend the Mountain Shadows Resort. Great accommodations, friendly service, and tremendous views of Camelback Mountain from the outdoor pool. We especially enjoyed poolside service and great appetizers from Hearth '61. Definitely a great resort to relax and unwind.

The property was breathtaking and everyone was so helpful & nice. I really enjoyed Chris and Christy. They made sure that I had everything I needed. Dennis was a great help as well. I was a little surprised by the hold amount that they put on your account. I thought it was a bit pricey but I ended up going a dollar just below that. 🫣 so they added an additional cost to the original hold just in case I did which was fine. The food at dinner was a bit pricey & I didn’t enjoy the salad or the asparagus but the steak was good along with the service. The Fiji water in the mini bar was $8.00 a piece which was mind blowing to me but over all it was a relaxing stay.
