It's one of the beautiful places to visit where we can see a small lake close enough to sea and they are divided by the sands in middle so we can either swim in the lake or sea shore. But avoid swimming in sea since it's dangerous flag sign was there last time I vist. Better swim in the lake near to it. The lake is fine many people's also swim there and have fun 😊 one thing I don't like is some people's is throwing waste near to it especially plastics and food waste plese don't destroy places like this if you visit. Always carry waste bin on car or dispose waste on waste bin.

The natural beauty and soothing atmosphere make this place a favorite destination for those who like holidaying in a place that is free from the crowd. Also known as Kappil. Lake, Edava-Nadayara Lake is a huge freshwater lake situated just adjacent to the beach. This combination of an ocean and a lake is very hard to find. On one side you will see the beautiful blue water of the ocean and on the other, the greenish tinge looks beautiful and contrasting. The road in between these water sources is best for bike rides and long walks. This scenic landscape looks even more charming in the evening. Kappil beach is also known as one of the best-kept secrets of Kerala. The Golden sands of Sun covered beach and then the dazzling water of the Arabian sea gives you a fun vibe. There are thick casuarina trees which makes this spot more alluring. The long road which separates the beach and the lake runs for around one kilometer and riding on the road is one of the most blissful adventures I have taken to date.

Now the beach is somewhat crowded like dhanushkodi 😹 Before there's less people but this time, most of them are arriving with families and taking a bath, foreigners and north Indians are mostly be there. I've uploaded some pictures of the crowd.

Beautiful place. It's an estuary actually. You will feel the freshness when walk through the shallow water. Also if you have guts you can reach to spot where river meets the sea through rocks, but it's dangerous. No life guard is available here.

This place is an absolute gem. The natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere make it a favorite destination for those seeking a crowd-free holiday. It's also known as Kappil Lake. A huge freshwater lake right next to the beach. It's a rare combination that's hard to find. On one side, you'll be mesmerized by the beautiful blue ocean, and on the other, the lush green lake creates a stunning contrast. The road that runs between these two water bodies is perfect for bike rides and leisurely walks. The scenery is even more enchanting in the evening. Kappil Beach is one of Kerala's best-kept secrets. The golden sands, the sparkling Arabian Sea, and the thick casuarina trees create a delightful vibe. Riding along the road that separates the beach and the lake is truly a blissful adventure.

Kappil beach has become one of my most favourite beaches of all. The backwaters on one side & rocky beach on the other. Its one of its kind. For added serenity, watch a sunset from here. Its going to be the best.

The beach is located 4km from paravur junction. Most of the people mistaken this beach as varkala beach. This is not the typical beach which are seen mostly because it has both sea and lakh views and the road that passes inbetween is super .The beaches are completely occupied on sundays .One of the best beaches in kollam district.

Kappil Beach is where the backwaters or the lake meet the sea. The palm tree lined road winds through the small villages with the sea on one side and the lake on the other. The whole line of beaches all along the road from Varkala to Kollam is beautiful. The beaches are clean, white sand, and nice breeze. Mostly uncrowded except Kappil Beach, which is a popular local spot. The waters are clear but can be dangerous because of the big waves and the current.

Great for a swim, the lifeguard won't give a damn. the water is shallow. This site is famous cause one of it's side is covered with a small lake and the other is the ocean. It's a very satisfying view to explore. Summer is a great time to visit.

Kappil beach 1 of the best beaches in varkala you can swim, bath , play on this beautiful beach, enjoy with kids. This beach has golden black sand and also has the big stones shore here you can enjoy both here . Great place to see the sunset. Must visit places in varkala. This place is 7 km from varkala beach you can take a auto from varkala beach to here in around 200-300 rs.

When we came on tour we were not allowed to bathe in Varkala beach so we came to bathe at the beach. It was nice to bathe here and there was no police surveillance More locals come in the evening. All the tourists enjoyed playing and bathing on the beach In the evening there are vendors selling ice cream, pani puri, corn and snacks. The beach on the island was very nice.

One of the best and beautiful places visited resently. Most underrated places ig. Its family friendly and safe to go there. We can enter the water without any caution. The water level is low. Disclaimer: Dont forget to bring trousers for entering the beach or else u will regret😅 (words from experience 😌)

I must say indeed the best one I have visited.. Would really prefer more than kovalam Or varkala in terms of scenic beauty.. Wonderful estuary view With pine trees between estuary and sea.. One can literally walk near the junction of sea with the lake.. Disadvantage: Avoid noon time No nearby good hotels or rest room, so take care of it prior to reaching the beach.. Still 5 star just for the beauty this Beach possess.. Such a potential beach, but sorry to say underutilized

You will find a little back water also near to this beach where you can swim also.. it is one of the biggest beach of Varkala 5 to 6 km outside the city centre

  • 5/5 Sarath Krishnan S. 1 year ago on Google
Here you can enjoy the beauty of both sea and the backwaters. The beach is not usually suitable for swimming but the backwater is . The backwaters doesn't have much water except in rainy days. It is a good place to spend evenings together with friends and family.

We were in the Varkala town to visit the famous Varkala beach and visited Kappil beach on our hotel receptionist's recommendation and it was worth it. This is almost 7-8 kms from the Varkala beach and not that much crowded. But it is really amazing. The beach is very clean and have the scene of raving sea on one of its side while a calm and serene lake on the other. There are some water sports and activities available in the lake but we did not focus much on finding about them as the activity seemed less due to Wuhan virus pandemic. We spent an hour here during our return journey to Kochi but it left a lasting impression for us.

Beautiful beach...beautiful sunset...Not very clean... Mostly not crowded... Ample parking space... Almost 8 Kilometers away from Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram, lies the tranquil haven of Kappil. Kappil is a beautiful beach-backwater destination located near Varkala, the famous tourist spot. A drive through Kappil is as scenic as it can get; the road is flanked by the azure blue of the Arabian sea on one side while the serene waters of Edava Lake is on the other. The long coconut palm groves swaying in the winds, the golden sandy beaches and the rocks shielding the shores from the waves make it a perfect beach destination. The backwater ride is another interesting option for recreation. Enjoy a ride on the houseboat and see the distant sun setting in the horizon or the simple village lives of the fishing community. Row / pedal boats are also available. Visiting Kappil beach gives double the pleasure of beach and backwaters. Kappil is a confluence of the sea, river and the backwater which make it more heavenly. The beach is now protected by a seawall. Take a boat ride through the serene backwaters and see glimpses of rural life and the lifestyle of fishermen. The Priyadarshini Boat Club run by the DTPC offers boating facilities here.
