Varkala is very active at Night. North Cliff is the most happening part where one can find most of the shops, restaurants& accommodations.A stroll along the paved footpath that runs along the entire length of the cliff with all the shops lighted up after the sunset will give awesome views & fantastic atmosphere. Life is So Chill &Night is young here.

Beautiful beach, especially the views from the top of the cliff and the sunset. It's crowded of course, being the most popular in Varkala, but it still retains its beauty. The water is clear and good for a dip. There's a long line of good restaurants and shops at the top of the cliff.

One of the most beautiful cliff beaches in India, really clean and calm atmosphere.not much more crowded than other indian beaches.lots of restaurants are here we can try western dishes. One of the most attractive things about varkala is the night vibes, most of the cultural activities are performing only at late evening. Overall, I would highly recommend varkala Beach to anyone looking for a serene and picturesque beach experience. It's a great spot for swimming, sunbathing, and exploring, and is definitely worth a visit.

The beach and cliff are one of its kind. Stunning view with refreshing atmosphere. We can enjoy the cool breeze at the cliff. The steep walk down the steps maybe tiring to some people but the experience us worth it. We can swim in the sea but should swimming during stormy seasons should be avoided. Lifeguards are present and before getting into the water their advice must be seeked. Various activities like paragliding are available. The cafes and restaurants are nice and provide quality food. The shops in the cliff gives us a nice shopping experience but many items are overpriced. Overall this place is a great option to spend our holidays.

One of a kind beach in Kerala. Please note that if it's your first visit and you're coming in a car, it's better to come to the Helipad and park instead of following Google Maps.

The sunset is really beautiful. It's an open air space, large enough to park 100's of cars. The view from the cliff point is breathtaking during the sunset. There is a police aid post near by. Since it's an open space, little concern of covid risk, but make sure you have proper mask and follow distance protocols. Additionally there are some good eateries. What I personally felt is most people come for the beach and the view and very few people are actually eating out. Eating out seems less risky considering most spaces are open air, take caution though.

Varkala cliff is an amazing view point to see the beach of varkala. In this Cliff side streets have a lot of resorts, restaurants and local clothing shops. This exhibits the state's culture and conventional activities. Evening time you may enjoy and explore these Cliff areas.

The panoramic view of the beach from above the cliff is very beautiful, The beach is open late night. But sadly the place is littered with plastic and bottles..

Good adventure for young people and families with under 10s children. Steep walk down to the beach and steep climb back. Routine souvenir shops and touristy restaurants.

Varkala cliff is a famous beachfront which is a massive cluster of old times rock formations.Varkala is uprearing the popularity ladder with immense speed and has become a thriving place in the last couple of years. The laid-back town is situated around 40 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram which is the capital city of the state of Kerala. Varkala cliff is now challenging the upbeat hippy destinations of India like Goa and Gokarna with its surging popularity. It features some colossal rock formations, hillsides, balmy beaches, hidden ruins and forts along with cloistered lighthouses and placid lakes. The unique feature of Varkala cliff is that it appears as a dramatic horizon that is merging with the Arabian sea. The cliffs are also named as the Varkala Formation by the Geological Survey of India. Formerly named as Udayamarthandapuram after the king of Travancore, a colossal development to the coastal stretch was made. Moreover, the presence of 2000 years old Janardhan Swami Temple near Varkala cliff often earns it the title of Southern Varanasi. Beaches like Papanasam, Varkala, Odayam are the most cherished among the sunbathers. You can also tour some marvelous architecture such as Anjengo fort and Janardhan Swami Temple nearby. The backwaters of Kappil beach and Ponnumthuruthu island have the ability to engross you completely. Kappil Pozhi or Kappil lake has a great setting to also enjoy boating. Varkala cliff is declared as a geo-heritage site in India due to the unique sediments that laid adjacent to the Arabian sea. It is one of a kind formation on the rather flat coastal plains of Kerala which magnetizes backpackers and pilgrims from around the world. This quaint pilgrimage town is also known for its ayurvedic spa centers. Arattu is a holy bath festival that goes on for ten-days mostly in the months of March and April. The ancient Janardhana Swamy temple serves as the celebrating ground for this festival. Words fall short to describe the beauty of Varkala, it is a place that leaves you speechless.

Love this place. Season is from October to March end. During season time this place is crowded with foreign tourists and the place goes fully live. Restaurants play music and serve multi cuisine food. Will recommend this place for sure.

Amazing place with beautiful cliff but our people as usual don't keep it clean even though the waste collection facilities are very well provided. The only problem faced was that there is no restroom below the cliff for the elderly people to use. If there are guards for waste segregation like lifeguards the place will be heaven

It always feel special to wander around the narrow streets of varkala cliff and finding all sorts of new things and people. It has a wide variety of shops to buy souvenirs and restaurants. Some shops kept me wondering how the collect this much things (mostly artefacts and jewelleries) and some restaurants made me regret buying food (so, be prepared to have some bad food or do your research before going or ask locals).

It was a good place to relax. The shops on the cliff run till midnight . The party just goes on and on. There are more than 5-6 stairs from the cliff to the beach. The shops in the cliff are mostly Jewelry and Restaurants.

A beautiful location, where it is the whole viewpoint of Varkala Beach. Always a great place to spend the early Mornings and Evenings with your fun gang or lover or just yourself. You might experience this place as some where in Europe. The cool sea breeze and the Nightlife around here makes this place wonderful.
