After friend's suggestion where to go for sushi in Park Ridge, came to Shakou. Very spacious place a bit off Japanese style, but I liked seatings by windows. Started off with stuffed jalapeno, such a beautiful looking dish, crispy, rich and delicious! For entrees we shared few signature maki rolls, server helped us choose. Rolls were okay, nothing spectacular, I've tried better at few places around here. So I have no wish to go back to this place, even tho it's not bad. For me Blufish better choice.

Shakou is my favorite Sushi restaurant it provides a great family atmosphere as well as a romantic scenario. The staff are great as well they accommodate your every need. As far the sushi is concerned it is the best in my opinion. I recommend the Lobster roll, Green & Fire dragon!

I like decor here even though it is weird that Japanese restaurant sharing one space with sport bar, so they decided to sacrificed authenticity and to provide Americanized experience - I am not a fan of it. Food didn’t impress me. Rolls were average - I definitely expected more. But I am going to give another try to this place.

Another "not my first time here, but first Google review!" Chic spot. Sushi rolls and Nigiri are always fresh - can be a bit pricey. Jalapeño Margarita tastes like candy but has heat. Usually order the Niki Niku Maki Roll and Flaming Hamachi Roll, along with their Hot House Sake.

It’s a modern Japanese / Asian fusion restaurant - it’s a huge space, blue club-like lighting and loud music. Very clubby atmosphere. The cocktails were excellent, I had a cucumberita which tasted way better than it sounds. For food, we had some shishito peppers to start with, and then sashimi (nice and fresh), a spicy maki roll and the haddock with vegetables. It was pleasant, and the service was attentive, although I did feel they wanted us out fast at the end - we barely finished our dinner and we were still working on our drinks and the waitress just brought out the check unprompted (it wasn’t late and there weren’t people waiting for tables so I didn’t quite understand this but oh well).

I love this place! Kona was the bartender! She's amazing with cocktails. Great service and very friendly staff. Great sushi! Nice ambiance and crowd. Beautiful restaurants. Make reservations if you want to sit outside.

Had been to the Arlington heights location and had great service and an overall great experience so thought I would try the Park Ridge location. Upon arrival waitress was nice and appetizers came out in a timely manner. Was there for my dads birthday dinner and he had never been so wasn’t sure what to order or how much came with it. He ordered the Golden lobster and is a big guy so when asked if he wanted one or two orders he decided two and the waitress did proceed to tell us it was a large portion but he figured he could eat it. When the food arrived the portions were HUGE and we knew immediately we ordered too much food so we kindly asked if we could send one back as I have at other restaurants because obviously mistakes happen. She proceeded to speak with her manager and came back and told us unfortunately no we couldn’t and would have to pay for both…keep in mind it was $26 EACH so it would’ve been $52 total which is absurd for sushi. I understand lobster isn’t cheap but I’ve never encountered this at any other restaurant. Usually they will take the food back and just dump it. The $ didn’t bother me tho it was the attitude I received from the waitress and watching her talk about the issue to her manager several times where I could see her and it seemed as if she was gossiping. Very unprofessional in my opinion..what happened to the customer is always right? In my opinion the restaurant didn’t wanna lose $ so they didn’t care to assist me in any way. Definitely will not be returning to this location again. Very disappointed with the lack of empathy and disrespect from the waitress. I believe her name was Elle.

Sitting outside on a nice summer evening is the best part of this restaurant. The music and vibe were perfect… staff were very friendly, but I went for several long periods of time before they checked in on me after receiving my food and when I made payment. I had to flag bus help down to collect my payment because my server didn’t come back. It was not super busy at the time either. Food was good, had the teriyaki chicken which was flavorful but not overwhelming. I would prefer larger pieces over the very small in my dish. Overall, decent experience, but some improvements in service could really help.

Just wow -- me and my girlfriend decided that we wanted to go out for sushi tonight, and decided to head over to Park ridge and take a look at Shakou as we've seen it before. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were going to have a phenomenal meal. From the contemporary aesthetics, to the friendly staff, and most importantly, the mouthwatering food, it was a true delight for us. If you're looking for a night out, and looking for delicious food, I recommend this place.

Food was good, not as great as Blu Fin. Gave it one star for service and atmosphere only because they sat us at the very last booth where the speakers were. The music was so loud, I couldn't hear my sister and we had to almost shout to hear what the other was saying. Not a place I would return to again. Definitively better sushi places in town.

Shakou is a solid sushi restaurant with plenty of seating. Perfect for large parties. The service is a bit slow, but not unbearably long. I love the Dragon Fire and Black Widow sushi rolls. The bottom side of the rice of the Dragon Fire is pan fried to crunchy crisp. The Black Widow has a large piece of scallop on top. Both rolls were very unique and tasty! I would definitely order this roll again.

This is a nicely decorated restaurant with great atmosphere. The food was only better than average. Service was a little slow. But generally speaking, customers can definitely have good time here.

Fresh food that makes the sushi yummy. Atmosphere is great for dates or night out with friends. Music has a good beat. Drinks are on the sweet side so order your own cocktail unless you like drinking jolly ranchers.

Not sure where to start as every aspect of our evening was exceptional. Our server Volha was attentive, personable, and knowledgeable especially with Gluten Free. The food was outstanding! The sushi rolls were huge and delicious! The manager was super friendly as well. The restaurant atmosphere was upbeat and trendy and very clean. We can’t wait to come back!

It was the first time me and my friend dined here and we had a very pleasant experience and the food was really good. Our waitress was so nice and welcoming and the manager, Nick, came out to greet us and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. We highly recommend the Seven Spicy Ahi as that was our favorite and very flavorful.

The staff was welcoming and attentive, from the wait staff to the hosts to the busers. There have a variety of seating (tables, high seats/tables, and booths), ambient upbeat music, and an overall chill, contemporary decor and atmosphere. I ordered the Tempura Udon. It had flavorful broth, fresh ingredients, and the tempura was cooked to perfection. Also ordered the veggie fried rice and that was tasty as well. My cousins were with me and the dishes they ordered were delicious as well. Pictured is the complimentary slice of chocolate birthday cake served to us by our waitress, and the sweet and fruity blackberry mojito that I ordered from the bar. Highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back.

Our favorite place to go! No matter what, we order Black Widow roll, which is amazing. The other rolls are good as well as grilled food. Braised short rib is one of our favorites. Always good service and nice atmosphere. The place is busy, make sure to do reservation in advance.
