I love history good or bad. We learn something new. I wanted my grandkids to see the area where John Brown has a statue in his honor. Also, you can look and see where enslaved people crossed the Missouri River in hopes of freedom. It is also the site of Western University a former HBC that gave former slaved a chance to go to college. There is still work going on to finish up Quindaro, but it is nice and worth a visit.

I came to this place back in 2003 before the Outlook structure oh, the signage, and the dedications were made. Thanks to kckcc Professor Steve Collins. Today's visit only allowed for the lookout structure. And not down into the ruins themselves. It's a beautiful location and so glad it's being celebrated and preserved.

When is this going to be national park / exhibit status? It really should be fully excavated and preserved for future generations. It has so much potential...what a hidden treasure...another piece of history not taught in schools.

The overlook, trails, and parking lot are no longer maintained. The trails are overgrown and full of garbage.. The historical marker talks mostly about the fight to keep the area from being turned into a landfill, not much about the actual significance of the place. Also, there are no ruins visible whatsoever. On top of all that it is located in a pretty bad part of town. Not worth a visit, in my opinion.

Pretty cool historical place. Not the best for small children. The trails are long and hilly so they are perfect for good cardio. There are not any restrooms here so remember to use the bathroom before going.

I actually love where I live it's historical and gives me something to think about from time to time I just go to that structure listen to music from time to time not all the time I sit at the statues I think about who my answers may have been I haven't done a deep research but I enjoy it is peaceful around there πŸ˜‰πŸ™‚

It is very sad that the city has allowed this historic monument to fall into such disrepair!

It holds a special place in the hearts of many Americans of African descent. Even as overgrown from lack of funds, it appears almost as if nothing has changed since the time of overt slavery.

Stopped by Christmas Eve. Parking closed so parked nearby. Could not see much from overlook and then site had a good amount of broken glass. Great idea, historic marker, and homage. Bummer folks don't take care of it.

It is a very interesting spot over the river. Best seen in the daylight don't venture after dark.

The gate was closed up at the entrance that it also has a pavilion with a view of the Missouri River and has some history and a trail.
