Certainly a very large monument, however I wish you could find more information about it.

I'd never actually been here before, but decided to wander over here last time I was in the city. I enjoyed the peaceful rose gardens and pond, so much that I barely even noticed the busy rush of traffic nearby. Plenty of photo opportunities for anyone who likes Instagram!

At the Queen Victoria Monument you’ll find many of the things that make this city so great. A beautifully well kept peace of historical architecture, adorned by beautiful greenery, with communal spaces. Around springs this area is particularly lovely to journey too, the colourful flowers and tall pines creates a terrific landscape.

I love this gem of a little garden. The roses are great. It has a little lake. Lots of shade. And it’s quiet but still close to the arts area

Good statue, if you’re into Empire or that sort of thing. I practiced reading my Latin here. I got an HD.

This is beautiful. Though, It does exude power, imperial, colonial power. Besides that one of the longest living monarchs, Queen Victoria participated in the growth and magnitude of Great Britain’s force, influence on the earth. She looks upon ‘Her’ city with confidence that she owns it, as the representation presents. Also her muses face the four directions of the globe with a confidence that only regal power could do. It is a statue that is so well crafted, so poised in its position that we can learn about our histories by viewing, feeling a post colonial narrative of the Wurundjeri that now is being heard. Because of this layering I love this monument

A nice statue, but the nicest thing about it is that it is surrounded by beautiful rose gardens.

😠 We were kicked out for taking photos with flash on (in the dark) and for taking a hit from a vape. Fair enough for the vape thing but it wasn’t a warning — we were just kicked out… OF THE BUILDING! Could or could not be racially motivated (we’re Asians, I still don’t want to assume) because one whit...
