Came here (my wife's request) hoping to see some widlife. Asked about animals to see, and a staffer said some animals were hiding due to the heat, so hope to go again when the weather is cooler. Good experience walking the shortest trail twice. Also enjoyed seeing other reptiles kept inside buildings on site, including baby alligators. Glad we came here and explored.

Houston never ceases to surprise me with the sheer amount of green spaces to get lost in. Armand Bayou Nature Center was an amazing escape from the stresses of city living. Though it seemed that quite a few people were visiting, I was able to walk a 1.38 mile trail completely alone - passing no other humans - and it enabled me to get utterly lost in the beauty of this place. The upkeep and care of the animals was exceptional. As I was walking through the beautiful forest, I was able to see so many animals living in a natural & free way, which is such a humbling opportunity. I will go again and again. I came alone, near the opening time on a Friday, and it was a perfect experience.

This nature center was FANTASTIC! We did the sunset pontoon cruise, and the views were stunning! Tons of wildlife activity and gators all around. The guides were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience unforgettable. Definitely worth visiting!

Where to even begin… this is such an amazing and magical place. Perfect to take your little ones (or even just yourself) to reconnect with nature. They offer programs for the children that can be daily or weekly. I actually attended a few ecocamps as a little girl myself here and had the best time. Remember to stay on the trails and be careful around the water, there are big spiders, snakes, and alligators, after all you are in their house, not the other way around. The staff is always super friendly and we were told they will be opening up their library for everyone to read books outside on the porch, members can check out the books. So educational and like a blast from the past. There is a lot of history there and they have the set ups of old barns and how things looked back in the prairie days. Signup for the newsletter and you will get weekly emails with events coming up and even free events hosted by various companies around Houston. Definitely recommend to bring yourself or your family for a fun day of hikes and exploring in nature. Bring bug spray and make sure to wear proper shoes.

We attended a guided kayak tour at Armand Bayou Nature Center that was just excellent. The volunteer and staff guides were so friendly, helpful and informative. The folks who give their time here know so much about the wildlife, the nature around the area and so much more. When we finished kayaking we took a walk around the nature center on the well maintained trails. This is definitely worth checking out, and the minimal costs to enter/enjoy yourself here go towards a worthy mission. When you step in to the nature center it's hard to believe how close to everything you are because it all feels so far away. We're very lucky to have this preserve in our area and we're so lucky to have the excellent folks who give their time here to help others enjoy it.

Beautiful place to visit and take a walk through the prairie or forest. The bat hike at night was also really cool to see the nature center at a different time of the day with great guides. I learned a lot I didn't know before. Highly recommend!

Lovely area with tons of nature paths and walking trails to explore. Entry was only $6/ person which I thought was very reasonable. Grounds are clearly well maintained and the staff and volunteers were all very friendly. I will note that if you go in peak summertime you’ll probably run in to (literally) more than your fair share of banana spider webs, so if you’re arachnophobic I’d recommend waiting until the fall/winter months. We went early on a Saturday morning and experienced no wait.

We visited with our grandchildren, we only saw bison, alligators, frogs outside, the walkway was safe and well maintained. The inside centre was good with lots of bugs and small creatures. Our grandchildren aged 7, 4, and 2 were quite interested,

Such a great time. We have done 2 of the 3 trails and they are great. Lots of armadillos. There was a mother alligator with her babies in clear display. Lots to see!

This space was overall super great. Its not too busy, the trees surround you and the wildlife is vast. Thanks to the executive’s in depth response to my past review I have decided to up my stars to 5 from the previous 3 stars. It is great to know these animals protected by people who genuinely care. Cant wait to come back!

We love ABNC! It's so nice to walk and be out in nature. The EcoKids program is fun and educational. Sign-up for a class spot in advance.

Beautiful nature center with lots of trails and wildlife to see. Only wish they would’ve warned us about the large horse flies that made our hike less enjoyable! Be sure to take a look at the various birds and gators

Great place to experience nature and still be close to home! Easy trails and lots of wildlife. They also have a great learning area for kids. If you’re really quiet on the wooded trails, there are plenty of deer to see.

We took 7 kids to enjoy the nature center and they had a blast. We walked the 1.5 mile Karankawa trail and imagined whether real tribes lived in these forests we walked. We ended up at a private little beach area (don't swim here!), enjoyed searching for bunnies, bugs, and birds, and loved looking at the tanks of critters they have in the education room. There was even a vulture talk when we were there and the volunteer was so knowledgeable and wonderful with the kids. We absolutely loved our time and are thinking of getting an annual membership because it was just so great!

I had to work on a Saturday I'm that area. When I finished me job I was in a awesome area with lots to see. I found this place online and went there and just walked around and had the most wonderful serene time I've had in a long time. The lake is beautiful. The old house is awesome the park ranger lady that was by is the care taker of the old house was really nice and informative and told me so much about the house and the land. I really enjoyed being here and look forward to coming back again.

Such a beautifully laid out park to go and walk in. They have a cool little exhibit with a few different types of reptiles in it that are representative of the local ecosystem. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of my fear of spiders and the massive amounts of orb spiders everywhere.

I visited the nature center this weekend with my family and could not have asked for a more perfect day! The nature center is beautiful, well-loved, and filled with the kindest and knowledgeable volunteers. Hilary in the garden was wonderful, showing my niece, myself and my dad all of the plants, letting us taste different herbs, and giving us recommendations on growing them ourselves. There was a gentleman in the greenhouse who was so passionate about telling us some of the history and about the planting efforts and restoration efforts of the park. The blacksmith was also so willing to share his work with us and tell us about the project he was working as a partnership with an art project at NASA (I believe that’s what he said). I wish I lived closer to here and I’d volunteer myself if not only to be a part of the community. It was really inspiring and what the world needs more of. We will definitely be back for the safari rides and workshops that are hosted here. It’s such a special place that I will be recommending to anyone in the greater Houston area. Thank you for having us!

I always see red-bellied and downy woodpeckers here, which are some of my favorite birds. The sycamore near the farm has sapsucker holes running all along the trunk. The quails they have near the entrance are also so precious. This is a wonderful place to walk and look at nature, and the yearly pass is absolutely worth it.

Had a blast with my family at ABNC today. We attended one of their ECOtots classes with my 2 year old son, and he had so much fun. Story time with Miss Rebecca was inclusive and educational. Children had the opportunity to pass around stuffed animal eagles and real eagle feathers. The crafting portion of the day was well put together and allowed the children to build eagle themed hats to wear the rest of the day as well as play in a makeshift ball pit masquerading as an eagle's nest. Kids were also afforded the opportunity to play with a rainbow parachute, catapulting the aforementioned stuffed animals into the air and running underneath the fabric. The children were then taken on a guided nature walk into the bayou, stopping at key points to look at different exhibits. There was a covey of bobwhite quail, a water feature with various wildlife, and some turtles and a possum. The children were then lead into the educational learning center where there were several more exhibits, including tree frogs, turtles, tarantulas, lizards, snakes, and even a baby alligator. There were also some animal bones for children to play with and examine at their leisure. The day ended with a final little walk up to a prairie viewing platform where the kids got some stamps and were the lead back to the entrance area. All the workers and volunteers were very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. This is a somewhat hidden gem in the Pasadena area and will be the site of many future trips for our family.

A beautiful place to visit for those who love nature and wildlife. A good place to take your kids. It's $7 to enter or you can pay for a membership ( which I would recommend). The money helps the nature center to maintain and take care of the animals on the property. Armand Bayou nature center is great place to visit and relax.
