We wanted a safe clean place. We booked 9 nights in this hotel. To our surprise, upon arriving we were told that cleaning rooms would happen only on Fridays, so just once during our stay. This was NOT what we were hoping for. And it's NOT mentioned on Expedia. One morning, my toddler was eating a biscuit and dropped some of it on the carpet. Being a toddler she started picking these tiny pieces and putting them back in her mouth. That included whatever hair and dirt she found on the floor. We called the front desk and asked if we can borrow the vacuum cleaner to clean the room ourselves, but the staff member on the phone refused. My wife had to almost beg her to bring someone (or to let us borrow the cleaner) and she had to explain to her why we need the vacuum cleaner. HOURS later, she arrived and cleaned the carpet. When she finished, she lectured us she was able to come this time, but she won't be able to respond to similar requests in the future. At the end, she rudely asked me: "UNDERSTOOD??" She then followed up by saying, "that came out a bit too harsh right?" We absolutely won't book in any of Marriott hotels ever again. We paid $1,200 for the worst hotel stay in our lives.

Was pretty disappointed in our recent stay with the Courtyard Marriott. We were immediately rushed by the valet staff who was not wearing a mask even though the mandate was active at this time. They hurried us out of our car and quickly gave us our ticket. The hotel check in staff were nice and accommodating after that very flustered encounter. But they quickly got us a quiet room away from the elevator as I had requested. There were a few issues with our room, the bathroom looked like it wasn’t cleaned and there was dirt residue in the tubs that was very concerning. Over our entire stay not once was the room cleaned and house keeping did not come once. By the end of our stay our trash was over flowing, we had no clean towels, and no items were provided to our room. We were able to request a later check out for our departure which was nice. But when I went to return our keys and check out, then woman just kind of shrugged me off. She said my check out was done, but I was never provided any confirmation or even a receipt of my stay over the weekend. I had to call their guest service line a day later to get my transaction details. At no point did I receive any confirmation from the hotel, no check in reminder, no update on information, nor a confirmation of my completed stay or receipt. Which I feel is very unprofessional. For the location of the hotel I can say it’s convenient, but for the service I would say your better off staying somewhere else if you want proper service.

I’m only giving one star because I can't give zero. My entire stay at this hotel was terrible from start to end. When we first arrived we were given a room that was not cleaned. We walked in and the room was turned upside down. The new room we were given was across from a gas station so it was loud all night. We were told we have to request 24hrs prior for our room to be cleaned or towels. I scheduled for fresh towels and never received them. When I called to inquire I was told we were never added to the list The rooms were poorly light. The air conditioner also broke in the middle of the night. All of these combined made the hotel stay bad. However the icing on the cake was when someone came into my room without permission. Our suitcases were ransacked. Personal items pulled out. Jewelry gone through and $100 stolen. I immediately reported this to the front desk. A “report” was taken and I was told to expect a follow up call Saturday. When I called to follow up the manager on duty had no idea of my complaint and I now I have to wait until Monday for the general manager to investigate. The hotel employees are thieves and the management is awful. A trip ruined by their lack of service. Never go here unless you want to be robbed!

Update: to management's credit after hearing my complaint the management made this right regarding our stay. While my assessment remains the same, I do appreciate that they took the concern seriously and addressed them to my satisfaction. This hotel is under reconstruction and is not suitable if you like nice things! Loud jackhammering noises were directly above our room and drywall. Unpainted drywall was throughout the first floor and partly in the hallways outside our room. Drywall crumbs were on the floor and the hotel was generally relatively dirty and old. Broken furniture in room. The rooms clearly need to be updated but I don't think it should occur while I'm paying for the hotel and trying to enjoy a stay.

I stayed here while on a job assignment with Marriott. The property location is very convenient and located near so many useful attractions. The staff lead Mrs Tiffany is the best ! Mrs Janene follows her leadership just as well. The two made my week stay above and beyond. Despite the hotel being under construction they made sure I was on a quiet side, upgrade , and were friendly and cheerful every time I passed the front desk. I would recommend this property and service at the highest level of excellency . Thank you all!

The hotel was nice. However the staff never brought the towels or extra blanket I requested even after calling the front desk. I stayed for two nights and used the hot tub both days . The second time I used it I noticed the water smelled strong like chemicals and so did the other person in the hot tub. We sat in the water for about 10 minutes before we both started coughing and I wasn't sure why at the time but even after getting out I coughed all day and felt ill. I also had worn black shorts that literally got turned rusty red because the color was stripped from the intensity of the chemicals. The hotel management should be more cautious and aware of the amounts of chemicals the public is being exposed to ! I had to warn a mom with two young children because they were about to get in . The incident happend to me just a few days ago on 5/22.

Overpriced for the room you get. Whole hotel was under construction. Our room must have been skipped, because our furniture was all beat up, bed skirts were stained badly, and there was black mold in the shower. Really small, the bathroom door continually got stuck closed, and the sounds of sirens flying by was happening about once every 45 minutes. To top it off they turned off the water on our second day at 10 am, so we all had to wake up early and race to get showered and ready before they shut it off. The opposite of a relaxing stay. Also while wheeling luggage around, the hallways were crowded with construction gear and big rolling baskets. For almost $1000 for 4 days, it was a complete ripoff. Will never stay at Marriott again after this awful experience.

Room smelled like wet dog. Being pet friendly, they do a poor job keeping the room clean. Only staying a few days, we are tolerating, since I'm handicapped and can't keep moving. I'm surprised that this is a Marriott. Worst experience. Also, construction ongoing. Not very quiet experience. They never stated construction on any website. Would have not booked.

Our room was dated and could certainly use some updates. First the good...hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The bad about our room: 1) the bed has no headboard, first hotel in years where this has been true, 2) the AC was an older wall unit that never shut off, it was always blowing even when not cooling. Also no true thermostat. They also had a tall piece of furniture right in front of it blocking some air flow. 3) the desk area did not have accessible plugs or USB ports. Makes it hard to do work. I got a good rate, but still feel like it would have been a better buy if there's items were addressed.

I stayed for 2 nights. The rooms are nice, but the walls are a bit thin. You can hear your neighbors talking in the other rooms. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that needs a stay in the area. P.S. I recommend going to the Bistro restaurant for breakfast and order the Omlette Bar.

I would not at all recommend staying here. The problems I had with my room were endless. The room was not clean, the comforter I was given had a nasty blood stain (I doubt they wash these, or the sheets honestly) on it and there were food crumbs left on the floor and sofa. In addition, the pillows were extremely uncomfortable and the AC barely worked-- the room would not cool down at night. The toilet was also backed up upon my arrival, and the TV did not work properly.

This hotel has a nice location and great service but the rooms are a bit outdated. Everything was clean and comfortable but it could use a refresh. There were signs of mildew in the bathroom because the bathrooms have little to no ventilation. Parking was easy with an attached garage and they gave me a nice welcome bag with snacks and water at check-in. If I were staying in Pasadena again I would consider staying here if the rate was competitive.

This place was a complete nightmare, literally!!!!!Tried to get a goodnight sleep as I wanted to enjoy a relaxing weekend in Pasadena but felt itchy all over. Then at 4am was awoken by being bitten by bed bugs. As I removed the covers I saw them crawling around. It was a real life nightmare. Completely disgusted and disappointed as they didn't even try to help us get our money back for this inconvenience. They don't deserve to be in Pasadena and I highly recommend you do Not give them your business. Stay away as the facility is trash, and the bed bugs are something not to take lightly. Gross Gross Grosssssss!!!!!!! Also I will add we found a blood stain on the bed comforter, simply horrifically disgusting. Read the Yelp reviews too and you’ll realize the horror stories for yourself. These guys are crooks.

Wow. 1. Light fixture is falling apart, lamp coming unglued and missing a bulb. 2. Lipstick or cosmetics on one of the bath towels 3. Shower head fixed position to where it sprays out of the shower. 4. Bathtub does not drain 5. Yellow stuff on bathtub 6. Lots of marks on the bathroom walls and wallpaper failing off wall.... And on and on. Way below Marriott standards. Will never stay here again.

Even though the hotel is under construction our stay was great because we stayed during the weekend when the construction was paused. We got one of the rooms that was remodeled and everything was new. The location is within a five minute walk to great restaurants and shops and it feels very safe to walk around the area.

Place was under renovation. Dust all around. I can smell dust, paint and other chemicals if while dining in the restaurant. Small rooms, old carpets tha smell dust. Bathrooms had residue on the door frames. Cleaning stuff were placed next to food that was to go in the grocery/market section. Not a Marriott I am used to..

The hotel is old; old furniture. The gym was shabby. The pool was dirty. Breakfast was okay. Dinner I didn't use. Extra services like the ATM machine were broken. My room was next to a Ice Vending Machine which would turn on couple of times a night; and the walls arent that thick. I booked 3 rooms, a long term stay (7 nights) - it was 159 dollars a night, perfect! Eventually I wanted to add one more night as I miscalculated the flight details from Europe to the United States. I had a lot of stress, as this happened 3 days upfront. The online environment was very un-clear; so I called, hoping for a better service. On the phone only the total numbers where communicated, but on 3 rooms, 8 nights, everything sounds like a lot, so in my distress I accepted the extra costs, assuming there would just be 1 night (cost-wise) be added. However... Adding ONE night, made the costs for ALL nights go to 189 a night. So the long-term-rate (discount) was removed with an even longer stay. I realized that only too late. Hoping to get service at arrival in the hotel, I was dissapointed again. The guy at the front desk didn't wanted to interact with me and just pointed to the head office. Not friendly. Not helpful at all. He didn't even wanted to explain. And didn't connect me to a manager.

We stayed here for three nights. In easy walking distance to the old town restaurants, etc. Rooms were good sized but they were getting a bit dated. The bathroom sink area was very small. We were in Pasadena during a big rain storm and the window in our room leaked and they had leaks in the lobby. Not that big of a deal. Parking next door is convenient but it costs $20 a day.

Typically a Courtyard is a Courtyard, like Starbucks, you always know what you're going to get, and this is a Courtyard, but the location is great, and the staff were over the top helpful and friendly. I spend 250-300 days a year in hotels, and rarely do I run across a staff that completely understands the definition of hospitality. Here I felt it with every single interaction with the staff, in the midst of a very busy weekend for them! Kudos to whoever runs this hotel, you get it. Thank you.

This is a difficult review. Some things were really nice, others not so much. The best feature is the location in easy walking distance from Colorado Boulevard and Old Town Pasadena. The reception area with the Bistro and the Courtyard area with the pool are quite nice too. Compared to other Courtyards the choices and the quality of the food in the Bistro were actually quite good. We want to specifically praise the lady who was on duty at night. She was friendly and funny (the breakfast staff not so much). The rooms were not very nice. The first room we got was stuffy, outdated and had view on a dumpster and a gas station. And unbeknownst to us initially, there was some water ingress that had drenched the carpet. And when we put a big wrapped package on the floor (we had brought a gift for a baby shower), the wrapping became wet and had to be replaced which cost us half a day including moving into a different room. While the maintenance guys who checked out the water ingress were very nice, the hotel was initially not very forthcoming with making good on the inconvenience. When we checked out and mentioned it again, however, the front desk manager deducted one night from the bill and added some points to my Marriott account. The second room was nicer, with a pleasant view on the pool area. But it was equally outdated, despite some recent features like USB charging outlets. The bathroom was clean but very basic and the sink area was squeezed in next to the closet with barely any space for toiletries. The keycard mechanism never worked on the first try and produced interesting and varying light effects before finally unlocking the door. What also bugged me was the nearly total lack of house keeping service. They only provide “refreshment service” (whatever that means) every other day and only for stays of 3 days or more. So make your own bed and bring your own tissues from the reception area. That’s youth hostel style, not Marriott. Unacceptable. The gym is very minimal and small with some cardio equipment and some weights. Towels were available, but I did not see any wipes. In any case, the gym needs an upgrade.

Tiffany(fromt desk), all I can say is thank you for your hospitality and just going above and beyond for my family . She greeted my kids with a full size bag of fruit gummies (this made their entire stay worth it) and was so just simply so kind to us. The valet was amazing, with construction happening, they were running and even sweating but still remained so professional and kind. We didn't eat here but wish I did, the menu looked great for breakfast. Construction is happening but the crew is very to themselves nor do they bother guests. Would 100% stay again.

Beautiful hotel. Great location. My issue was the construction on the parking level our room was located. We had to park of the 4th level and hurf our bags up to 5. I was then charged for parking which was not told to me at check in. The manager did call me back and give me a credit.

Loved it. Pet friendly, helpful staff made experience memorable to say the least. With fully stocked amenities and entertaining programing, never a full time. Highly recommend for a weekend getaway or just a good time. Hot tub jets fully functional with towels readily available , excellent service. Pet friendly... Two thumbs up !

It’s a giant construction zone. No warning about this when booking. Lots of overlooked details, we asked where the pool was, the construction zone blocks access, so had to go up to the fifth floor to get to a different elevator at back of hotel and then come back down to the first floor, but when we arrived at the pool couldn’t get in because they didn’t bother to mention that the room key they gave us was only for new rooms and the pool locks hadn’t been updated. Asked for extra pillows (there weren’t the normal pillows/ blankets in closet in room) and they never came, had to call again four hours later. When parking you have to watch out for construction materials stored and thrown all around the lot, and trash everywhere. Really odd. The location is good if you’re going to Rose Bowl but the management of the customer experience during renovation is really lacking. Was surprised because I’ve never experienced this at a Marriott before.

  • 5/5 Kristi S. 6 months ago on Google
We stayed for three nights, mainly to see Coldplay at the Rose Bowl, which is only 2.5kms and walking distance from the hotel. We did read the reviews and went in expecting there would be disruptions from the renovations. When we arrived Tiffany helped us check in and gave us a bottle of water each and some breakfast vouchers. She was very up front about the renovation disruptions, including the pool being out of service. There was a hotel across the street she offered we could go over for a swim. Honestly, the weather wasn’t great, so not having a pool wasn’t a huge deal, and the breakfast was amazing. All the staff we encountered were friendly and went out of their way to make us feel like valued guests. The location and surrounding shopping and restaurants were exceptional. Highly recommended if staying in Pasadena.

2022 stay. I frequent many hotels for my work, this one was great. The room was great and the staff was very professional. The lobby was very airy and open which was nice, short walk to many things downtown. The only thing that was a bit annoying for me was the parking, but that is not unexpected in a downtown location.

  • 3/5 right pedal c. 1 year ago on Google
I expected more. Especially considering that it was twice the price of the other hotels in the area. The lobby and pool area are nice. The rooms are NOT. They were nice 25 years ago. Probably should have updated them ten years ago. Scuzzy tub/shower. Carpet felt funky enough that I wore socks the whole time. I am being kind at 3 stars because the staff was efficient and nice. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

Sitting at the computer working at 11pm. They make sure I have a room, OK. I only have my friends nickname, but I have an ACTIVE room card and a room number. Despite having the ACTIVE card, they threaten to eject me from the hotel. Good thing she was still awake. When I complained, they told me not to cuss at them, when I didn't. When I then said I didn't cuss, and asked them what I said, they told me "you need to calm down", so I stopped talking in fear of them throwing me out anyway. Apparently complaining is also a way to get kicked out at midnight. Not even an appology.

This was a very nice hotel. I'm glad we stayed here. They say they are dog friendly, I would not say that is true. There is no place to really "walk your dog". And let's face it, when you have to bring your dog with you, they need conveniences as well as you. The recommendation is to go to a park around the corner in a sketchy area at night. I think I would rate it as a 5 star if there was actually a place to allow my dog to relieve herself. The hotel itself was great. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean, and the bathrooms were clean. There was even a little refrigerator. Overall, it was a very nice place to stay. Hotel staff seemed amenable to suggestions. I hope they will listen about the place for the dogs. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and had great suggestions on local places to eat.

I thought because it was "by Marriott", it would be pretty good. It wasn't great. Best thing about it is the proximity to the center. You can walk very easily to the entertainment district. Second good thing is the valet parking pretty cheap. Other than that, room are a bit old and you can hear what's happening in the rooms around you. Got waken up at 2AM by someone's TV. Our room had a wonderful view on the gas station next door and windows are not sound proof so you can also hear what's happening outside. Bathroom looks outdated, not super clean. Breakfast wasn't good either and the older gentleman that served us was not pleasant. Overall would not recommend staying there unless you are a group of young people just looking for a place close to old Pasadena to enjoy an evening out.

Not bad. Good location. Room was comfortable. Didn’t use any amenities but pool looked chill in the courtyard. Covered parking. No annoying parking fees or gate guards. Enter in front or ise rear with room key. No extra vehicle ransom. Drive right on out. No toll.

Run far away from this place. Initially had a seven-day reservation I had to find another hotel halfway through. My room was filthy. There was hair everywhere in the bathroom. My room, a 2-room suite, was outdated and smelt like old musk. Everything that could rust had rust on it. During check-in, I was told housekeeping comes to clean every other day. They never came to clean my room, not one time. I was in town for work and elected to drive from Santa Monica to Pasadena every day rather than stay in this hotel .

My experience at this hotel was terrible, because of the customer service from the staff. I never really stay at Marriott; therefore, I don't know the different membership levels. When I checked-in the guy in front of me was handed two free water bottles. That same night, (12 am), I went to the front desk clerk to inquire about if the water bottles were free. The clerk named Carl was really rude to me, and looked at me like I was crazy thinking they were free. THE REASON I ASKED IS BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE TO ASSUME, and I just was curious. He was saying "we have a store right next to us, you buy water there, why would you think we give it for free?!!?" Then, after being shocked how angry he was when I asked, I had another question. The question was if I booked a free breakfast or not, because I used my Chase credit card points and the email confirmation doesn't show if it's included + I booked this room 2-3 months in advance so I don't remember. This really set him off, because 1) he said (rudely) to look at my email confirmation because it's on there (when I told him again, I booked through my credit card points and it's not clearly stated), 2) he didn't even give me a clear answer if I had free breakfast or not (in my past experience with hotels, clerks can quickly look it up in their system). I left the clerk sad and felt really disrespected, because he talked down to me like I am a child. Appearance wise, I am a small Asian female who does get often mistaken as a 21 year old. I don't know if he thought I was just being a young kid messing with him, but I just had simple questions that I asked calmly and reacted calmly when he was being rude to me the whole time. The next morning, I called the clerk who was working to please check if I had free breakfast, and the lady quickly gave me an answer, I did have free breakfast. Then, when I went downstairs to speak about my horrible experience last night, another lady clerk explained that different memberships for Marriott gets free perks such as free water bottles. But then she got defensive that I had a bad experience, and didn't even apologize. She said she will relay the message to the manager, but I don't know if it ever happened. Marriott on Pasadena, PLEASE get your staff respecting all people especially when they are just inquiring about simple questions. I was really shocked that I was treated this way, and I don't normally write horrible reviews, but this one left me crying because he made me feel like I was literally stupid.

Only stayed 1 night while visiting family in LA. The bed and the room were clean. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning was great because it was over 90° outside. The location was perfect right by all the shops and restaurants/bars. The parking was easy and convenient. Only had an issue with the bathtub because it was stained with a rust color on the floor and then right by the sink there were several red drop stains which looked like dried blood. The rest of the room was clean. Had a nice TV, a microwave, mini fridge and a coffee maker. I appreciate the fridge because we had leftover food to store. Would stay again for the price and a short stay.

This is an older hotel that has been updated to a more modern look downstairs but the rooms are still a bit outdated. The room doesn’t have a thermostat but rather an older basic floor HVAC unit with on or off and high or low so it was really hard to regulate temperature. The room was right on the street and even though I was 4 floors up I still heard traffic until late into the night. ATM out of order. Only 1 small elevator. Small things but they add up. Benefit of this hotel is its location which is within walking distance of everything you might need like food or coffee or whatever. If I’m being honest I think I’ll try a different place next time, not that impressed.

So so hotel in the Marriott lineup. Dated equipment. Our room is on the first floor right behind the front desk. Noisy and no natural light. Bad lighted room. We also find a spider hanging in the ceiling of the bathroom. Yet the reception refuses to change the room for us saying they have no extra rooms, which is definitely not true as you can still book the hotel anyway.

  • 3/5 Stephanie S. 1 year ago on Google
1st room we were given has wet red spots all over the carpet. Looked like they tried cleaning it but it was really wet still. The ac was horrible and the room was just dirty looking. We asked for a different room and that room was great. Not sure why they still book people in a dirty room with no ac when they have others available. Also had to get the bill adjusted because they charged for parking when the site we booked on said free parking. Pool is not as amazing as pictures make it out to be. BUT great location within walking distance to lots of restaurants.

Highly recommend this location. Then only reason for loosing a star is no real blankets and the hours for cafe etc are not the best. Great staff , nice facility and great location. Some things are really dated but understand that with the way things are resources are limited. We have stayed multiple times and will definitely be back especially because we get to bring our fur baby with us and the great restaurants, bars and shops walking distance away. Highly recommend.

Great time. You can use your phone as the tv remote! The pool was clean and fun. We brought some food and drinks to the pool, other people had the same idea and it was like little mini parties. The hotel was okay with it which was very nice. Overall, room clean and staff was friendly.

I always stay here when I visit the area. Nice rooms, great customer service from everyone there... Guests services, valet, cooks at the buffet, etc. They go above and beyond to assist you on you stay.

Can't say enough great things about this location! The best quality of this location is its staff. Tiffany, the front desk manager, is beyond welcoming and helpful. She truly goes above and beyond for her customers. Danny, the valet manager, was also helpful, polite, and gracious every time I saw him. He'd always make sure to greet me as I approached the front door and if he wasn't busy would grab the lobby door for me. The high quality of customer service these two bring to the Courtyard is above and beyond! Overall, I would recommend this location to anyone looking to stay in Pasadena!
