Total first appointment time: 3hrs 40mins My appointment was scheduled for 1pm. I arrived early at 12:50pm and there was a lady being helped in front of me, so I was told she would be with me in a minute. Once the lady in front of me was done, the receptionist said "we are on lunch until 1pm" and just left. I was so confused. I waited until 1:20 before a new lady came and escorted me to a room for my X-rays. The X-ray technician came in and didn't seem to know what he was doing. It took over an hour to get my X-rays done, so by this point it's almost 2:30pm. He still had to take photos of my teeth and I don't know why. None of this was being explained to me. The doctor came in 3x asking how much longer and he finally said 10 more minutes. It was exhausting. Dr. K finally saw me and she was very nice. She thoroughly explained my teeth and there's a lot going on. Edwin came in and broke down the cost of a deep cleaning, which I agreed to. I come to later find out that my husband paid $60 less than what I did for the same cleaning and we are on the same insurance, so who knows. Then Dr. K came back in to proceed with my cleaning. I've never had the actual dentist clean my teeth before and I thought that was weird. But she was great. Upon checking out, I had to make an appointment for an extraction and replacement. I wanted to know the costs before actually making the appointment, but no one could help with that and I made the appointment anyway. When I got home I called back to ask how much my extraction appointment would be. I spoke with Edwin again and he said to call back next week and he should have an update. When I called back I got a breakdown of the costs and it was way more money than I expected. I'm glad I called to get a breakdown because there's no way I could've afforded it without knowing. I ended up cancelling my future appointments to get a second opinion. Edwin and Dr. K were nice and professional, but everything just didn't sit right with me. If you go here, make sure you get a full breakdown of what you're paying for and be mindful of the technician that doesn't seem to know what he's doing.

In this place the service is so unpleasant and deplorable in Pasadena Family Dental, 800 S. Fairmount Avenue #100 Pasadena, CA 91105 I must declare that the attention is lousy and discriminatory! Starting with the receptionist Cynthia and the man who is dedicated to office manager Erwin that he does not understand or respect when spoken to! I do not recommend it at all.

The worst dental office I have ever encountered. Their only concern is charging you or your insurance with procedures you DON'T need done. If you paid in full for a procedure, they would then cancel your appointments, and never follow through. During the worst of the pandemic, when every business and medical facility was limiting the amount of patients seen, they were packing their waiting room, didn't even care about keeping patients 6ft apart. They don't understand or grasp the concept of "patient care." My next step is to report them to the Dental Board.

Very unprofessional - the crown they made for me fell out in less than a year, which is supposed to last for 10 years on average, the reason being they didn't even bother to check the structure; very rude - they refused to do anything to remedy the mistake they made; bullying - they invited me to complain to the Dental Board because Dr. Altina Karimyan is on the board.

Very very disappointed. Very unprofessional. They are looking for money. They love money. Edwin, the number guy and the "office manager", is looking to charge you more and more. I am not sure why Dr. K still keeps him around. She is a nice Doctor (although I just met her once years ago, another doctors cover her), but Edwin ruins everything. He sees you as a bank account. Let me tell you this: I have delta dental with %80 insurance, %20 me for years and years. In my last appointment, Dr. told me I have to tooth very stuck to each other and have cavities. She suggested to these first. She left, Edwin came. He claimed we bring the tooth maker studio in the house, we made everything in the house.... And he said because your tooth need major treatment your insurance covers only %50, and you have pay $570 for to minor cavity. What?!!! Why and how on earth Edwin recognizes that my 2 cavities are major treatment? I never heard from my insurance ever that some of the tooth treatments are 50-50. He made it himself to charge me. And of course I am not crazy to do that. I definitely drive to UCLA for my future treatments rather than come to these guys. Sorry for you Dr. Karimyan for thus guy you have

Very friendly staff and dentist, clean, they have a numbing mouthwash you can use before they start cleaning your teeth so you don't have to feel the scraping as much.

My recent experience at this dental practice has left me feeling frustrated due to unexpected changes in my treatment plan and a significant discrepancy in the financial information provided. Unexpected Change in Treatment Timeline: Originally, I came in for a tooth extraction and implant preparation, with the understanding that I would address additional issues at a later time. However, during a follow-up visit, the treatment plan took an unexpected turn, and another tooth required immediate attention. This was not part of the initial agreement, leading to confusion and a sense of being rushed into decisions. Financial Communication Breakdown: A significant source of my discontent revolves around financial miscommunication. A detailed discussion with the financial manager occurred two weeks prior, outlining my insurance coverage and estimated out-of-pocket costs for two crowns. To my surprise, the costs presented on the day of the procedure were substantially higher than the figures we had previously discussed. This discrepancy has raised concerns about the accuracy and transparency of the financial information provided. Inconsistency in Information: What adds to my frustration is the inconsistency in information provided. The details discussed about insurance coverage and associated costs during our prior conversation did not align with the figures presented during the recent visit. This lack of consistency has created confusion and eroded my confidence in the financial aspect of my treatment. This experience has been disappointing, as I believe clear and consistent communication is fundamental in healthcare. I hope these issues can be addressed to ensure a smoother and more transparent process for future patients. While I understand that unforeseen changes can happen, effective communication is key to maintaining trust and understanding between patients and their healthcare providers.

My wife and I were seen here back in October 2023. We loved the dentist and most of her office staff. We thought this would be our new dentist but as of January 2024 the office manager has yet to send out a treatment plan with estimates. He said he would do so back in October and we have made several calls but have yet to receive a call back. He was extremely condescending when he went over the treatment plan and wrote estimates on a sheet of paper. Like any other business transaction we expected it in writing. The worst part is that he pushed the Care Credit on us as a form of financing even though paying for it is not an issue we were trying to prioritize treatment for my wife. We canceled our follow up appointment and have been contacted by the office staff but still no response from the office manager and still no treatment plan. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.

Quite disappointing… waited 2 months for an appointment to get my biannual dental cleaning, only to receive x-rays and recommendations 🤦🏻‍♀️ need to wait another month to come back for a regular dental cleaning 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
