The two most popular steakhouses mentioned to me in the Pasadena area are Alexander’s and Arroyo Chop House. I’ve dined @ Alexander’s a few times so tonight I got the chance to compare ACH to Alexander’s to see which is my favorite. Parking @ Alexander’s is easier because they have an underground lot next door. I was able to find street parking tonight but the best option usually for ACH will be valet. I would say I like the design of ACH more as it’s closer to a classy California style whereas Alexander’s looks like a standard steakhouse. Our server tonight was polite but when we sat down she asked “would you like bread for the table? We have some garlic bread and sourdough, but most people get a mix of both.” So we said “sure that sounds nice” and then when we got the bill there was a $9 charge for bread.. I still paid for it but didn’t really consent to ordering it as I had no idea it was for a charge, so I did not enjoy that part of the meal. I started off with the Prime Chili as I don’t eat Chili often, but being in a steakhouse with premium meat products and in a city that is obsessed with chili I felt it was a good call. It really was tasty with steak chunks in it. For my entree I chose the Filet Mignon and it was pretty good with a smokey type flavor, but it was a bit under cooked and the kitchen had cut into it a few times so it came out ugly; so I would have to say it was not as good as Alexander’s steak, which does not have a smokey flavor (my preference. Char flavor is nice, but different from smokey flavor). For our dessert we chose the Grand Marnier Soufflé and being my favorite dish to order for dessert I expected to like this and really did; it was a great end to the meal and large in size. Overall a really nice dinner although I do like the steak @ Alexander’s slightly more I enjoyed my experience tonight at Arroyo, aside from the bread incident, and would come back in the future. Due to the steak being undercooked, and the up charge with the bread, I have to give this place a 4/5 because I did not encounter any of those problems at Alexander’s any of the other times I dined there.

I come in on 2/1/2022 to celebrate Chinese New Year, Very delicious food and friendly staff, valet parking but need pay $7. I treat the dinner and totally paid $200 including tip. Not bad, but I am so busy today, I hope come back in the future.

Overall great food. The Tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection. Pro tip: mix the sweet corn and Mac and cheese, you won't be disappointed. New outdoor experience is not ideal, but all in all not bad.

Had a wonderful dinner and service was top tier. Tina was our server and she was exceptional! She made the experience and our celebration that evening very memorable. Her attentiveness to us and suggestions hit all the marks. Filets and lobster mash were beyond delicious!

This place is legit, it passed my go to on rating a place on food and drinks. For one, they take their ice seriously, the liquor is served with that super clear ice. The old fashion was on point. The wagyu steak was so tender it felt like I could smash it with my tongue. Make sure you talk to your waiter about the specials, there are a lot not on the menu.

Wow. Such a great experience. We sat outside in their very spacious outdoor covered seating and it was a beautiful night with plenty of heaters if you get cold. The food was amazing. Had some oysters to start and my uncle had the potato leek soup. Multiple family members got the Chilean sea bass which l tried and it was phenomenal. I had their Wagyu sampler which had a total of 10oz if steak including 4oz of American Wagyu and 2oz of A5 Japanese Wagyu. This was my first time trying the Japanese Wagyu and it was absolutely amazing. Unlike any other steak I've had before. Highly recommend if youve never had it before. We had various sides (all must be ordered a la carte) including brocollini, mashed potatoes, and the mushrooms and they were all perfectly cooked. Cocktails were very good though the martinis werent the best we've had. Great wine selection as well. Service was awesome. Highly recommend over any of the chain steakhouses like Flemming or Ruth Chris. They also gave us a complimentary Apple pie for my graduation!

What an excellent way to spend the holiday season with friends! Great atmosphere, even though the restaurant was full, we could talk and hear each other. They have a broad menu with something for everyone. We had steaks, fish, broccolini, and fantastic lobster mash potatoes!!

I’ve been a fan of this spot and Parkway next door. The food and customer service did not disappoint for a well deserved five star restaurant. I started with a traditional Old Fashion and our appetizers were their very delicious cheese garlic bread, half dozen oysters, jumbo shrimp, onion rings, and creamed spinach. All the sides were delicious but the garlic cheese bread and onion rings were the standouts and were phenomenal. I ordered their ribeye and it was a the perfect size, not too large and just the right amount of marbling/fat. The flavor was excellent and it was cooked perfectly at medium rare. I think I could have gone to a smaller size cut to account for all the other food. We finished the night off with their chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream and it was a phenomenal dessert. Overall it was an excellent dining experience with great customer service. The input from the wine sommelier was also great when suggesting a wine to pair with. I’d definitely come back again and try their other menu items. Parking is only valet from what I remember, I’d call to confirm because I took a train(A-line) to get here.

This is a nice place! Off the plane and wanted something light and so the oysters and king crab legs were good. The quality wasn’t quite up there but for the price it’s acceptable. The thing that I really liked was the wine list. Very varied. Obviously a lot of west coast stuff but even then sufficiently varied. Anderson Valley Russian River etc. and nicely aged Zinfandel. We had a Sauvignon and the Zin. They also had some reasonably priced Italian whites and a few burgundies. It’s clearly more of a steak place and everyone was eating steak and it looked good but maybe next time! Service very friendly.

Expensive but totally worth it. Superb food, limited, but excellent selection of drinks, amazing crew. Love the lamb chops (it's a special so you need to ask for it). Only three beers, but the Belgian white is my favorite so I'm completly satisfied. Valet parking.

Been there b4 but food was not Up To what I remember it to be....my wife & I were disappointed in our experience. Lobster mash potatoes very bland, chicken was cooked perfectly & delicious, crab cakes were also good, jalapeno corn was my favorite, scallops were good but sauce didn't go well with it, truffle Mac and cheese was my least favorite, my rib eye steak was also very bland but tasted so/so.. I don't see my wife & I going back to the arroyo chop house again.

Everything was great: the food and the service. We ordered the porterhouse for two and it was delicious, melt in your mouth, goodness. The lobster mashed potatoes and the broccolini was well seasoned and paired well with our porterhouse. Definitely need to order a negroni and the Manhattan. You must complete your dinner with a soufflé. All in all, dinner was amazing!

I was here for a birthday party. The steaks were excellent! The service was top notch. I loved the ambiance, including the dark wood furniture and fireplace.

Stepping into Arroyo Chophouse in Pasadena was like entering a realm of culinary delight. With its timeless reputation, it's no wonder that this restaurant has become a staple for steak lovers like myself. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the bone-in ribeye Texas steak. The expertly cooked steak boasted a charred crust on the outside that gave way to a tender and juicy interior, showcasing the skillful mastery of the chefs. But the culinary journey didn't stop there. The cod dish, with its delicate flavors and impeccable seasoning, left a lasting impression. And then there was the soufflé dessert - a true testament to the chef's artistry. Each spoonful revealed a burst of flavors and textures that danced on the palate, leaving me in awe of the culinary creativity on display. However, amidst the culinary wonders, there was a minor drawback. The restaurant's ambiance, while undoubtedly cozy and intimate, was also quite dark. While it added to the establishment's charm, it posed a challenge when it came to reading the menu and attempting to capture photographs that did justice to the exceptional dishes. Despite this, Arroyo Chophouse's enduring presence in Pasadena is a testament to its dedication to quality and excellence. It has carved a special place in the hearts of those who appreciate a well-prepared steak and a memorable dining experience. For anyone seeking a truly exquisite meal and a taste of tradition, Arroyo Chophouse is the go-to destination that continues to deliver exceptional culinary delights.

Food was good quality - my steak was cooked perfectly but my friends was over cooked. Highly recommend the Mac and cheese as well as the half half bread which was amazing. Only thing that could work on is service. After being seated with a reservation no one paid attention to us for about 15 minutes even though they weren’t busy - no menu, no water, nothing. After, service was pretty good.

I've made come to this restaurant twice. Once with a group of 10 and the second with a party of 2. This place has not failed in either time. Their food is delicious and their service is amazing. The servers are always so nice, generous and helpful. It's the best of experiences to come here. While you will definitely not have a dinner for less than $100 it's well worth the expense.

We had some issues with the service and the steak at this restaurant. The staff was slow and unresponsive, and tasks like bringing wine and taking our order took unnecessarily long even though the place was not busy. We enjoyed our salads and appetizers, which were fresh and flavorful, and they ended up being the highlight of our meal. Unfortunately, one of our steaks was very undercooked and still raw even after we asked for more heat. The desserts were fine, but nothing special. The food was good overall, but the service quality could have been better.

I made reservations at Arroyo Chop House to celebrate my partner’s birthday. We were greeted by charming and welcoming valet attendants who were cheerful and smiling. The entrance to the restaurant is surrounded by beautiful flowers so we stopped to take some selfies and pics of the garden. Restaurant is dark and romantic. We were greeted immediately and sat at a table across from the gorgeous bar. Our server Lauren came over right away to review the menus and specials for the evening. Lauren was AMAZING! She took such good care of us all night! Everyone who touched our table was attentive and smiling all the time. I notice these things. Nothing worse than dining and being surrounded by staff that look and act miserable. That was not the case at Arroyo. We’re feeling good with all the energy being fed to us by they staff (even the manager came by to check on our table, speak with us a bit and make sure all was well)…now on to the food and drink!! Every dish and cocktail was perfect! We ordered the half and half sourdough and garlic bread, chopped salad and oysters to start. Our dinners were the filet, New York strip steak and lobster. For dessert, the dark chocolate soufflé served with whipped cream and ice cream. I had three cocktails, La Poire, Mrs. Pink, and a sambuca. Each was beautiful to look at and equally delicious! I want to add that the restaurant presented a handwritten birthday card at our table upon arrival and candle on dessert. I really appreciated this extra touch to make my birthday guy feel special. Arroyo is just over the top in their level of service from beginning to end. You’re in good hands here for any special occasion!

the grounds are stunning especially for the holidays. the food was fine. I had a salmon special which was... salmon. it wasn't bad, but it was a salmon you could get anywhere for a little cheaper. the corn souffle and scalloped potatoes were way more interesting, good stuff. the chocolate souffle for dessert was pretty good. it wasn't the best souffle I'd ever had, but you know what? There aren't a lot of places in or near Los Angeles that do souffle nowadays, so to have this option is good. Service was excellent. I didn't try the chops, so in some ways thos review isn't that fair, but I'd give the salmon 3 stars, the sides and dessert 4 stars, and the ambiance and service and the fact that they even make souffle 5 stars (even though the souffle itself wasn't the best but just pretty good). I'd come back to try an actual steak and a grand marnier souffle. the lobster bisque and garlic bread sounded interesting too.

We stopped by with a group of friends for drinks and appetizers and this place never disappoints. Our server, Justin was very knowledgeable, suggested some food options for us and drinks and was very attentive. This is always a great place to bring friends.

This place is great and you won't be disappointed. Great atmosphere, great service, and great food! This will definitely be a place my Husband and I return to for special occasions that call for a great meal. We ordered and enjoyed the Lobster Bisque, Caesar Salad, Kansas city New York which was cooked to perfection, marinated chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, loaded baked potato, asparagus, and New York cheesecake for dessert. Enjoyed the Jungle baby cocktail and a glass of Pinot Noir with dinner. Best meal out I've had in a long time!
