Withlacoochee River Park is an awesome state park that is home to a variety of wildlife. We saw a beautiful woodpecker, a group of turkey buzzards, and even something over 6 feet tall that was very hairy (my husband.) Oops 😬 😆 This park is a peaceful gem located in the heart of Dade City, Florida. They offer fishing and have beautiful walking and/or biking trails. There are five picnic shelters and two playgrounds. This park is clean and well-cared for. Overall, we loved the tranquility we found at this park.

Beautiful park off the beaten path in Dade City. Our family enjoyed a walk on a combination of the paved and nature trails. The playground equipment was newer and well-maintained. The bathrooms were clean and there are a variety of activities available. Even in the middle of the day there was nice shade through most of the hike. Great place to take kids, dogs, or bikes. Snap a photo of the map at the entrance before you head out on a hike!

A large park along the river with many bathrooms, playgrounds for children and trails. While we enjoyed hiking the upland area trails and the one by the river, there were a few things that didn't quite hit the mark. The observation tower is just above the tree line so you can climb up and look out, but all we could see were the tops of trees. We could make out what seems to be the nearby landfill that had buzzards circling and a certain smell when the wind was blowing. From the tower we followed signs to a boardwalk - it is closed and looks doubtful it will ever open again. This is not along the river and only follow this if you just want a bit of a hike. All the trails seem to connect one way or the other. We did not have a map and just wandered till we got back to the parking area. The trails are quite nice, you can do dirt trails through the upland. A very rustic trail along the river, which I liked very much, and there are several paved trails that seem to go through the whole park. A good spot to get some walking in. There is a small area to fish from a dock and I'm guessing you could put in a small boat - check on that before taking my word for it. The river was loaded up with cypress trees and all the swampy good stuff I enjoy. It was certainly a nice spot to get right down to the water and be able to hike along the shore. For wildlife we only saw a few deer. I think with the campground and all the trails it might be a bit busy for any animals to stay in this area too much. I saw very few birds. This is a good park if you just want to get out into nature. There seemed to be several types of camping available too. The kids seemed quite happy with the trails and playgrounds that were available. We saw several smiling away as they rode bikes.

Gr8 place to go RV camping or tent camping... nice hook ups for RVs and nice restroom with hot showers. GR8 trails for hiking. Stayed in RV spot 9 and 8 both gr8... I like 8-12 spots because they have woods behind them as opposed to other RV slots. Dade City not far away so that's a plus also. Nice quite place.

Within 15 minutes, nature came to us. Alligator in the river near doc. Turtle crossing walking trail. Love this location. My dad’s favorite place for peace and nature. Idk if I would feel safe here alone as a female without my phone and protection- very isolated when I went with my dad.

Beautiful serene area. Quite, peaceful, and lots of bunnies! Love the history! The park rangers went above and beyond to help my family get set up at the campground. The rangers gave us a tour of the park. Thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality!

Beautiful park and scenic kayaking. We were the only people on the river, so it was very peaceful. The staff came around and checked on us twice making sure we stayed ok.

Lots of mosquitoes in early August. Stopping for even 1 second on the trails, I was surrounded. It’s pretty and the tower is neat. I saw a flock of wild turkeys, several hawks up close, a baby tortoise, an adult tortoise, very few people on a Monday afternoon. There is a place to launch canoes and kayaks. There are LARGE spiders all over. Like the size of an adult hand. I had to detach several webs just to proceed along the trail in certain spots because it was so narrow. Will not be back given how many other beautiful trails exist.

Took the kids there and we enjoyed the tower. Didn't find the lake until after we started driving away. Beware Google maps takes you down a dirt road for about 5 miles.

This is a very nice park to spend the day. Playgrounds for kids, trails, paddling, picnics! I'm pretty sure there is even an area for camping. ⛺ 🌳 There is even a pretty cool wooden observation tower down the trail past the playgrounds. Very relaxing.

We so enjoyed our visit to this park! It was a low humidity, rather cool day. Perfect for bug free hiking and exploring. Wonderful boardwalk path, a great paved path, and we even hiked on the Cross Seminole trail. The river and dock were beautiful, but we didn’t put our kayaks in since the current looked pretty strong. The camping looks really nice and the RV sites were large and had electric. Would like to come back and camp there. The park, paths, bathrooms, playgrounds were well maintained. Kudos to the people working there for providing such a beautiful place!

Camped here Saturday-Monday and we nearly had the camp area to ourselves! Nice big sites. The site we were at was nice and wooded/shaded. Everyone that worked there was friendly and helpful. Nice trails.

Great park to get away from it all, you definitely feel like you're in the wild without traffic noise. I was able to here lots birds including an owl. The trails are mostly shaded, some are deep shade and definitely lots of mosquitoes. On trail is a paved multi use trail. There's remote primitive camping, an RV camping area with a sanitary dump station, cabins, and a tent area that is close to parking. There's several picnic tables and shelters with grills and public restrooms. There was also a portable restroom along the blue trail near the primitive camping and lookout tower. Two playgrounds, one large and one small. The boardwalks on the green trail are closed but you can walk along side of them with no problem. I will have to come back because I left a lot more to explore
