An eccentric trip back through not only the history of Paso Robles, but of California in general. The front of the museum displays rusting farm equipment, a one-room school house, and reproduction of Paso's first jail (with an original door and ball an chain). This does no hint at the eclectic collection of collections that the museum interior houses. Sections include displays on local fossils, native american, military history, farmers, cowboys and more. There is a whole warehouse of old tractors, many of which still roll down spring street during the annual "Pioneer Day." There is enough in the museum to warrant several trips and considering that there is no admission charge, why wouldn't you?

This is an amazing collection of local and period history. A rich story for this area of California. Worth a visit and the docents are happy to share.

This museum is much bigger and varied than most people expect. Years ago it was just a collection of cool old things, but it has really become an amazing repository of area history using exhibits that tell stories. Every local family should check it out!

Sorry for the shenanigans yall. Me and my friend and our mothers visited here after a solid 4 winerys and a buttload of wine in our systems. Lets just say the keep out signs were missed and the do not touch was more than looked at. But over all great hospitality and amazing place to visit. Sober or not. Also great for children, I think. Since lawd knows we were acting like some.

Tons of things to look at. Really interesting and free admission. Loved the fossils & rocks from the area as well as the old cars and wagons/carriages. Would love to go back again, especially considering they are building a scale model of the Paso hotel before it burned down.

Fun and interactive free museum that was fun since there was something for everyone. Recreations of Old Paso Robles downtown, old carriages and cars, the history of Cattle Brands and barbwire and tons more fun and unusual fun things. I could see this place being fun for all ages!!!

This place has one of the best collection of antique tractors ever most of the ones you'll see there are either one of 2 first one ever made a prototype or really cool old or just amazing if your in Paso for a vacation or just looking for a cool place to visit this is the place to be 10000/10 I strongly recommend going here if you get the chance or swinging by the Paso park on pioneer day to see them running if you want to see them in action the best of the west show is the only place to be its memorial day weekend at the Santa margarita ranch and it's such a cool experience to see these sleeping giants in action this place or anyone of the events should be on the top of your things to do list I could not recommend this place more.

What an awesome little museum for such a small town. The displays really hit me harder than I anticipated (in a good way). The docents really knew their stuff. My dad worked with the Bell Telephone Pioneers. They had a display devoted to them and the work they did in this area. I recalled all the wonderful stories he mentioned about his contribution with the organization to me when I was a little girl. You can't go wrong; it's free.

We had a fantastic time exploring this museum - including admiring the epic barbed wire collection! Marie and Joseph were fabulous docents.

This is a gem, lots of original items from the area and through the decades. There's a lot more to see inside, from cars to agriculture, and pioneers to main street. The volunteer staff is friendly and really add a personal touch to the area's history. Sharon, thanks for sharing a bit about yourself and Paso Robles!

Can't beat this free museum. They almost have too much on display. Mostly indoors in a climate controlled area. Plan on about an hour. Worth the visit.

Great museum, it’s a great place to bring your children. Especially to teach them about the History of Paso Robles. So make sure that they are an age that they can appreciate it. Younger kids are obviously welcome, yet it’s nice to have some time to really observe.

Fun, educational, free admission. A very fine presentation of the history of Paso Robles. Did you know that Paso Robles was at one time The Almond Capital of the World? (1920) (Disclosure currently a docent at the Museum but was a yearly visitor for over 25 years. Always something new to see!) 😀

I was pleasantly surprised. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. A lot of history packed inside to be opened like a time capsule one amazing section at a time. My grandson really enjoyed his time there. I highly recommend for anyone who has a love for history. Let's not forget how awesome the volunteers were.

In depth history of the arts, far too much to absorbe in one visit. Go and pick a section!
