Decent place to get out and walk or jog. Just know that the Salinas river is seasonal, flowing sporadically during winter months, and always drying up in the hot summers. The trail can be a little overrun with homeless at times, and it is within proximity to the freeway. But if you are looking for a decent trail to walk on close to city limits, this is a decent option.

Can be nice when there is a nice stream flowing this river bed is home to many homeless drug addicts. Can be very dangerous if you're hiking it alone. There's tents and bedding and garbage along the river which is a shame evidently the city of paso police are not interested and not doing a good enough job to keep them out. This river bed needs to be cleaned up homeless shelters need to be built for the ones who need it. I know it's not necessarily our problem to shelter these people but it really is our job as citizens, as caring human beings, to reach out to these people. Winter is just around the corner and it's getting colder every year. A little human kindness goes a long way.

You are never "in nature" on this walk. There are houses on one side that you always have in view, and the other side you can see and hear the freeway at all times. It's smelly, too! A very easy and flat walk, but definitely not for me at all.

Well maintained trails and some trails left natural as our local trails advocates prefer. Sadly many/ most of the formerly beautiful signs are in need of replacement. Fresh air, safe place to walk or bicycle and enjoy being outside.

Be aware the homeless live along the river. Funny that the home owners are the ones that don't pick up after their dogs. Either way, if you watch for the poo and don't mind the locals the walk is pleasant. If you're lucky patient and quiet maybe you'll see some deer or the egrets hunt frogs.

This is not a good trail. We walked though an active crime scene with blood on the ground. Shopping carts everywhere. Not a safe place to walk.

Nice place but the neighborhood people need to learn to keep their noses to themselves. I felt like every eye was on me from the time i pulled up to the time i drove away. which was about an hour. Really creepy people. really.

This is a bright neighborhood park, and the walk is mostly clean and well kept. That said, I think river walk is a bit of a misnomer because I think the river is gone for the season/with the drought? 🤔 One side of the walk is along the dried up river bed with a park with fields and a playground. There are benches and all in all it was pretty nice. If you keep walking (towards the shopping district) to the longer end of the walk it's less scenic. However, we did find a small creek (ghost of river past?!). You'll walk behind the Khols and JCPenny's and it's just not super great especially since the river is mostly gone and what's left is a few discarded shopping carts. That said the weather was beautiful and the first half of the walk is nice.

Homeless encampments and not a safe place to run/walk alone. Such a shame the city spent the money to put this is and it is now overrun by homeless that create a mess and start fires.
