It is a very calm and quiet place for enjoy a day with family and friends. Must carry some food because there is not much hotels or restaurants for getting good foods(*except some street food and ice-cream). Good place for walking and exploring the forest. Park and the dam is very scenic. Park and the dam is well maintained. Very easy to reach. Rest rooms are well maintained.

Peechi Dam thrissur is situated 22 km (14 mi) outside Thrissur city in Kerala, India. The dam was started as an irrigation project for the surrounding villages in Thrissur. At the same time, it catered the drinking water needs of the population of Thrissur City. It serves as an irrigation dam, reaching out to the paddy fields in and around Thrissur city. Built across the Manali River, the dam has a catchment area of nearly 3,200 acres (1,300 ha). Elephants may be seen on the bank of Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 1958 covering 125 square kilometres (48 sq mi). E. Ikkanda Warrier (1890–1977), the first Prime Minister of the then independent state of Kochi, India, was the architect of Peechi Dam. Majority of the Thrissukkar opposed the dam cutting across the partyline. He brought a retired Chief Engineer from Andhra Pradesh to build the dam as engineers from Kerala opposed the project. The dam was completed in 1959. Burgula Ramakrishna Rao, first Kerala Governor on 4 October 1957 inaugurated the dam

Peechi dam is one of the best dam to visit in thrissur district. It's the best place to visit with your family. It's a man made dam. There is lots of place for kids to play. Attractive spots - Top View point - Children's park - Garden There's a humble space for parking. Parking fee for 4wheelers RS. 20. Entrance fee for adults rupees 20. There is a view point. The view from that area was awesome. Just visit when the dam shutters are open. It was awesome view.

Peechi dam is located 15 kilometers from the highway, pattikkad junction. The dam is the main water source for Thrissur town. Peechi dam offers visitors a relaxing hangout with a good view of the surrounding countryside, and it is currently open to the public. Additionally, there is a park for children, a garden where you can take a stroll, and a few shops where you can get refreshments. In the garden, there are statues of animals and Parashurama, who according to Hindu mythology formed Kerala state by throwing his bloodstained axe into the sea from Gokarna. There is a ticket price of Rs20/-.

Peechi Dam lies at a distance of 23 km from Thrissur. The dam is the main irrigation project of this town of Kerala. It is a very famous attraction, and visitors come here now and then for the fantastic picnic spot it serves as and for the boating facilities which are offered at this reservoir. One can also come across Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary here which is a must-visit place for the nature-lovers. The dam is constructed across the Manali River. The dam is spread across an area of 3200 acres. When it was completely built in 1957, it could irrigate up to 17555 Ha of land present in Mukundapuram, Thrissur, Thalappally and Chavakkad Taluk. Peechi Dam also supplies drinking water to the town of Thrissur.

Visited peechi dam yesterday . One needs to take a right turn from Pattikad to reach here. Roads are in excellent condition except the last 500 meters or so . Car parking is available @ 20 rs. Views are pretty good from the dam. For a short family outing peechi dam can be considered as a decent option .
