We stepped into La Taverna Calle 8 by chance while exploring Little Havana. When walking in, we were greeted by a really friendly man, who happened to be a friend of the owner/chef. The staff made us feel very welcomed. They guided us through the menu and gave us recommendations. They even asked us what kind of music we wanted them to play. We had an amazing experience and can’t recommend this restaurant enough! Along with the great service, the food was very flavorful and the portions are perfect for what you’re paying. Definitely get the house wine - it’s amazing. It felt like an authentic Cuban experience.

Nice and simple in the heart of Calle 8. Awesome salsa music and other Caribbean and latinamerican rhythm. If you love to dance in a not pretentious, family like environment, this is the place.

This place is amazing!! I'm a New Yorker and have eaten at many Spanish restaurants, but La Taverna is the best I have ever had. The bread and the olives were served first. They were to die for, so we knew we were in for a great experience. All the tapas were delicious, but the Galecian octopus and the baked octopus were the stars of the show. They were prepared simply, but were so tender and flavorful. The lamb chops were grilled to perfection. We were rushing to catch a show, so didn't have time to try the paella, but we will definitwly back to do so!!

I recently dined at Tumba'o on Calle Ocho, and it was a fantastic experience. The restaurant's Cuban cuisine was a delightful surprise. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I highly recommend trying the Cerdito Mamon and their Torejas with Ice Cream both were incredibly delicious. Don't forget to sip on their refreshing mojitos. Tumba'o is definitely a hidden gem, and I can't wait to go back for more!

What a wonderful place, we came on Sunday, we were looking for something different and Oh God, we weren't disappointed, Luis greet us at the door and since that moment was a great experience, with his carisma he suggested some drinks, beers and food. The food was absolutely delicious and the drinks were awesome, I tried a few different beers, they had a very charming singer and we ended doing karaoke and dancing with Luis, we had a great time, I really recommend this place if you are visiting LA Calle 8

This place is great. They give you more alcohol per mojito than any place on the eight. Couldn't pay due to some bank problem but manager let it slide. Will tip $100 next time. Thanks.

We started here on our foodie tour of Little Havana and the Insalate Mariscos was excellent. I will definitely be back for a meal. Mussels, clams, shrimp, and squid; all flavorful and fresh.

After discovering this gem during our honeymoon trip in October, this is my husband and my FAVORITE place to eat, drink and be merry when exploring Little Havana! We visited before and after our cruise and fell in love with not only the food and drinks but the people, they made us feel like family! We enjoyed our time so much that it was imperative that we made accommodations within blocks of this location before and after our next cruise in July! Cannot wait to go back and this time take even more pictures of all of the goodies they have to offer!

We were blown away by the food we had for lunch. Gretel, the waitress, was fantastic in making excellent recommendations. We had the “little pig feast” and “Ropa Vieja” for mains, “Oxtail Tostones” as an appetiser, and the “Yuca con Mojo” as a side. The portions were generous thus we packed a whole container for dinner. The dishes tasted so good! Excellent service!

Solid choice for lunch dinner. We came while it was quiet during lunch. Owner was very friendly. Food portion was good. Got the Saffron Corvina and the beef with mushrooms. Both amazing but the steak was a little heavy (cause it’s steak lol). Music at night and it looks like possible karaoke.

Going back in time to when very home like restaurants existed, the chef, server, bartender and cook are all the same person who also owns the place, in his employment only helpers to make the service as excellent and efficient as one needs to complete the amazing culinary experience you will no doubt enjoy tremendously. Clean flavors of authenticity send you to a trip to Spain savoring traditional cooking at its best. No pretensions, just good atmosphere, great food and drinks, generous portions with a reasonable price. I will definitely return to experience this pure love of the owner/creator of this very Spanish house of pleasure.

Cute and cozy. I'm Hispanic but not cuban. The menu didn't explain what the dish was. Just told you the name of the dish. Everything was expensive so we opted for the Cuban sandwich. We were shocked that on top of our 100 dollar check, They placed a 16 dollar service charge and than expected more for tip. Service charges are not tips. So that felt very unreasonable. Won't be coming back to this little hole in the wall.

My wife and I were in Florida for a wedding and we decided to take a day trip to Miami. Whenever we visit a tourist area, we try to find places to eat that are a little bit further away from the main section of the tourist area. We have found the food is usually better. La Taverna Calle 8 in Little Havana is one of those places. The wait staff was excellent. My wife ordered a margarita and I ordered a fresh squeezed pineapple juice. The bartender stopped by our table to check on our drinks and my wife said it was the best margarita she had ever had. My pineapple juice was delicious. The server was very helpful in explaining the various items on the menu. We both decided on Cubano sandwiches. They were delivered with a condiment tray on the side which we thought was a nice touch, it allowed us to experiment a bit. We were warned the hot sauce was hot and it was, but we still enjoyed trying a taste. The sandwiches were well prepared. The Cuban bread was toasted just right and was either baked on premises or sourced from a local bakery. The pork was succulent and the ham and cheese were tasty. I would recommend visiting La Taverna Calle 8. The place was clean, has a pleasant staff, and good food. It was worth a short walk.

My sister is a Spaniard. We had some tapas and even the oil they use is authentic. The food is delicious and really cooked the Spaniard way. We got to meet the owner, Luis, who lived in Spain for many years and is an expert in Spanish dishes. Prices are very affordable and the staff is very friendly. Could not be happier!! 5 stars!

Mojito's presentation were good, but flavor not so much. Slow service for a pretty empty local. Food not so good either 👎 poor quality ingredients. We liked Location and art exhibited. They have potential, but have to improve to catch up with prices they charge.

👍👍 Second time coming to this grand place. Let me just say it does not disappoint. My girlfriend treated me to brunch for my birthday and I suggested coming here. Wow, what an amazing experience.
