The Peñiscola Castle surroundings is a lite village of its own, beautiful cobblestone streets, nice white and blue houses similar to those found in the Greek islands, full of restaurants and souvenir shops and at the top the Castle it self and gardens, definately worth a day out with family and friends or for any history enthusiasts, check out the sea shell house on your way up, very interesting.

Such a cute and picturesque old town around the citadel. Wouldn't have expected that before coming to Peñíscola!

Tucked away amongst the buildings, you could hear him grumbling. It was a little scary.

Ok so it really is nothing more than a blowhole spraying water when the sea is rough but standing watching everyone waiting for the next big wave and shrieking when they all get drenched is oddly very amusing..until its you!!

The waves from the ocean were crushing in the hole, creating a big splash upward and exploding sound. It is located outside and is free.

It was unremarkable. But worth the visit to see the castle in the general area. Castle and gardens were €5 entry. Not required to go in. You’ll still love it. But well worth it.

Wish walking party in the way to the castle or old town but whilst you can hear the sea below there isn't anything to really see

👍👍 Emblematic Peñiscola building that serves as a favorite picture taking spot--the history behind the house is fascinating with the husband redoing the exterior with shells in response to his wife's favorite pastime, collecting sea shells.
