I popped in here for a Sunday lunch as I saw it was open again and serving roast dinner. Let me tell you this - it is not a generic Sunday roast like the other cheap establishment known for its roasts. I decided just to have the basic mixed roast for £10.00. You can tell its all made fresh on the day. The yorkshire pudding was still warm from the oven, perfectly done. Roasties with a hint of rosemary, boiled baby potatoes, honey glazed parsnip, kale, sugarsnap peas, regular peas and the most unbelievable buttersweet carrots. Gravy was served on the side and you can taste this is not made from granules. Amazing value and amazing taste. I gave in and tried the Red Lion Malva Sponge for dessert, mindblowing!! Hints of apricot and ginger in a decadently sweet light sponge with some pouring cream on the side. Exceptional taste for only £3.00 You cannot go wrong by trying this out, it is worth more than the unbelievable low price!

This is my old local from my farming days. not been there for about 30 years or more. I was recommended it for a sunday lunch so i took my mother there as everywhere else was booked up. we went there as a party of three. We ordered a beef, lamb and pork sunday lunch. If my mother loved it, it must have been good. An excellent round of steamed veg, fresh workshire pudding and thick slices of meat with a thick tasty gravy. Two weeks later, i am on my own and feeling hungry, i called in for a meal for one. Again, all the food was fresh, tasty and plentyful. I had the roast beef and for £12, this is ultimately the best. I was tempted to do a toby carvery en-route but for the same price nearly, the red lion produces a far better and superior product that Toby. I highly recommend this for the sunday roast. the meal is alot bigger than the other local pubs, far tastier and more quantity,

Just had a superb Indian at the Red Lion Pendoylan. Each dish was amazing and seasoned to perfection. We waited longer between courses than in other local Indian restaurants but only because everything is freshly prepared - you can taste the difference. The staff were attentive, the lady behind the bar was charming. The prices are very reasonable and drinks were very inexpensive. This restaurant really deserves to do well, we will definitely be back.

Fantastic food. The whole set up is a little disjointed but the food more than makes up for it - we'll definitely be going back!

Stopped here on our way to Fonmon Castle. Loved the 2 roaring fires and festive decor. The landlord was welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our food was fast, hot, reasonably priced and tasty. Real ale is kept very well. Very accommodating and helpful with my daughter’s dairy allergy. Not sure what more. You need from a traditional pub. We will certainly be back the next time we’re in town.

Booked a table for 8. Took 20 minutes for drinks orders, no menus brought even after asking. Food order taken 20 minutes later again. Over an hour wait for food. By the time food was served we had been waiting 1 hour and 40 minutes. The timing of food was terrible, and several family members had finished eating before others were served. Sides came out after people had finished eating. Staff waited until food was being served to inform us something was out of stock on the menu, when I asked how long a replacement meal would be I was told by waitress ‘I can’t say, the kitchens run off its feet’, so one member had to go without a meal. 3 meals came out without gluten free gravy and had to be returned. No one checked in to ask how food was. The staff would promise answers or sides and never reappear. Roast potatoes were undercooked and meal was average at best. I don’t understand why you would set a Christmas menu which cannot be turned around in a decent time. If you want quality food from here, don’t go at a busy time. Service and food do not live up to the prices. Overall bad experience which left us disappointed.
