The place introduces you to different cuisines in Malaysia. The presentation is really ingenious. The staff help you to take interesting snaps. The ticket price is 30 RM for adult international visitors and 20 RM for children.

It is quite a small museum displaying replica of local foods. There are 2 stories and can be easily covered in 30 min. The displays are interesting and look very real. If the entry were free, it would definitely be a 5-star rating. But it is not free and is quite pricy at RM30 per adult (non-local). Good for photo shoot and checking what local food to eat.

Highly recommended. A good place to explore for everyone. Slow down the time for u to relax, stroll leisurely around the place. Rich in history and education for everyone. Very nice set up and the **food** looks delicious! Friendly and great service staffs. Always smiling and always willing to take photos for everyone. 👍🏾👍🏾

One of the best museum in Penang where one can learn and understand all about the food culture and history of Malaysia. You will find larger than life food form of this multiracial country as well as interesting food facts and the history of the food here. I believe this is an one of its kind museum in the region. Totally worth the RM25 entrance fee.

The staff were nice. And the exhibits are okay n well maintained. Great experience with kids. Love the quotes behind each exhibits. Got parking building few metres from the museum. Oo, 1 more thing, toilet is clean and convenient. There are stairs so not very convenient if you come with strollers.

It was quite fun looking at this huge huge food art! And it was quite real😍😍 they also create awareness about wasted food, too much sugar and many more ! A very educational place to learn about food! Price is 13 if you book from Klook ( Malaysian) . There is a place for parking in the very right if you can’t find on the road.

Overall, great experience. The food looks so realistic! Love that they end the experience with us self-reflecting, don't wasting food and take note about the amount of sugar in our daily foods. Please prepare your MyKad beforehand as they need to check it before you pay for the entrance fee. Best to visit during weekdays. There's too many people on public holidays 😅

Another interesting place with tons of local delicious food in unusually massive portion for fun photos taking. It also explains the different cultures and their food style and traditional which is educational to some extend.

Love this museum! Love all the explanations of Malaysian food culture. The food replicas are really well made. Only downside was the staff gathering in the gift shop talking loudly about personal things. I wanted to buy some things but they were so invasive we just left.

Enter with adult mykad + student matrix card= RM10 Very wonderful place to make a visit! So amazing & interesting with the gigantic size foods. There are 2 level inside the building and have various theme of foods such as luxurious foods, mini market foods, local foods, western foods, sweets and more. However, the staff doesn't really assist you in taking photos unless you ask. They should improve photography skills & study more information regarding foods especially about local foods.

Highly vibrant and educational attraction showcasing Malaysia's culinary heritage. The exhibits are stunning, interactive, and offer a unique learning experience. The staff is friendly, but it can get crowded at times. A must-visit for food lovers and those interested in Malaysian cuisine. 😋

Interesting museum featuring the popular food around Penang! They have giant replicas which you can pose with, and some accompanying explanation of the dishes' histories. 30RM for foreigners and it's a decent price.

  • 5/5 René S. 4 years ago on Google
The museum tries to attract visitors by showcasing large replicas of Malaysian staple foods. But it is so much more: It gives a beautifully designed overview of the typical Malay, Chinese and Indian dishes that can be found at banquets, it visualises how much hidden sugar we are consuming, how stuffed with preservatives fast food is (it simply doesn’t rot!) and it sheds the light on food scarcity. If you take the time to read the exhibits you can easily spend 1-2 hours there.

Hahahaahah, i was a bit skeptical about this place at first, but turns out it was quite fantastic. The lighting for taking pictures is very good, but u can get an assistant from the indian guy, although its extra expensive(25 ringgit about 5 dollar/1 pic) when u can take it with ur phone limitless and print it on ur own in any mall. The staff is very friendly and very helpful when taking ur picture. There's a creepy kid statue at the end tho.

We absolutely LOVED this place!! Honestly I left it thinking that I needed to leave a review about it as soon as I got home. It was truly one of the most fun museum experiences Ive ever had. It’s not what you’d expect… it’s so well done. Not only is the food super realistic, but they have huge versions of lots of stuff. They also teach you about the local cuisines of all the different Malaysian ethnic communities. The best part… everything is super interactive!! Let me tell you there are Instagram shots galore in this place. You’ll have so many awesome pictures playing dress up as a chef and “tossing” noodles in a wok, or holding a giant ice cream in candy land. But it doesn’t end there… the museum provides a great message and take-home lesson along the way to make you think about food in new ways. I know it probably sounds like I’m being paid to write this lol but I was honestly so blown away and we had the best time. They had to kick us out because they were closing or we would have stayed longer!!!

Really interesting experience to see our lovely Malaysian food history and food in large scale. Really fun just for the photos and experience. Would recommend it - good for adults and children! There are two levels so if have baby would recommend a baby carrier. There is parking 3 min walk away in the garage. I would recommend using all the props and speech bubbles for your pictures. Staff are also very willing to help take photos for you. My one annoyance is that the professional pictures you take are not available in digital form (print out) which isn’t really in keeping with the times. When asked about this they said need to spend 50RM for 3 photos to get digital. I mean totally backwards. The large photo is 25RM and small photo is 15RM. Apart from the photo, I would recommend going and just take a lot of your own photos. Also have fun!

Interesting and quirky museum! Very informative about the various food in Penang, there were infographics around some exhibits. Level 1 of the museum was bigger and interesting as compared to level 2. Nonetheless, really interesting, should visit at least once to experience this.

Was amazed with their ideas and creativity. It displays good information about the food we ate and creative sections that allows you to imagine what if the food was not as what we witnessed. There are also miniature models too. A great place for family and friends.

I think this is an interesting museum overall and the information provided is genuinely fascinating. But what it charges is completely out of balance with the local economy for the size of the museum. It is essentially 2 floors of a long narrow house. We essentially paid as much as our 4 person sit down lunch for the entry, which took us no more than 30 minutes to walk through comprehensively reading most signs. Until they lower the pricing by 30 to 40 percent, I cannot recommend it unfortunately.

Our first visit to the Wonderfood Museum and it was truly memorable. There were so many famous Penang delicacies on show and each one of them just made us hungrier. We truly appreciate how much effort were put into them, judging by how realistic the food exhibits were. 😉 There were many fun and spontaneous photo taking opportunities that provide great laughs for the whole family. Highly recommended! 👏

Review is based on pre covid experience. Booked thru klook, and the ticketing process is fuss free. Am able to enter the museum easily. Despite it being a small museum, we spent almost 1hr here just taking photos, and reading all the quotes on the walls. There are also some interactive spots where you can play with the props. There's also a photo taking session whereby you can buy photos from them at a rather cheap rate.

Great experience and awesome way to learn about food. The huge artificial food is nice subject in the picture. The staff are super nice always ask if we need their help to take photos. Parking will be a great issues but there is a parking site everywhere and it just a stone throw away from this museum. Better to come early to avoid huge crowd. There are tickets that you must buy before entering this museum. Enjoy and learn.. That's all..

The museum that gave me the biggest surprise in a pleasant way. Using food as the means to communicate, the museum touched on topics including cultural differences, Malaysian history, weight management, as well food for thoughts and famous philosophical quotes that are related to food or tastes. Food models are carefully craved in great details. Captions are in different languages are witty.

Located in the city of Georgetown, Penang in Malaysia, this unique museum is definitely an informative and entertaining way to learn about Malaysia’s multi-cultural traditional cuisine. What makes the learning experience more fun is the oversized three-dimensional replicas and dioramas with detailed information of the popular local street food and delicacies. Entrance tickets can be booked online or purchased at the museum. Allocate at least one hour to fully appreciate all the displays and taking photographs of the beautiful and skillfully done displays. Highly recommended to visit this fascinating museum.

Perhaps not top of most travel guides for Penang, but I thought it was an interesting museum. If you’re here as a tourist and find yourself overwhelmed by the quantity and variety of street food, this is a wonderful place to come and educate yourself a little (and maybe help you pick your next meal). The displays are well crafted, particularly the smaller life-sized ones. The large displays don’t look so realistic but are good to take a picture next to if you’re a kid (or kid at heart). You can learn interesting food/culture (because the two are inextricably linked here) facts along the way as you explore. I initially thought I’d be through within 15 minutes, but my family and I actually found enough entertainment to last for around an hour. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE HUNGRY! Everything looks realistic. BRAVO! If you go here, you will feel that all the racial slurs you read in the Internet written by some stupid people in Malaysia do not exist! You will be reminded how rich Malaysia is culturally. You will feel how fortunate you are to be a Malaysian. This place... just... WOW!!!

It is a nice place to visit as it's explore most of the popular foods available in Malaysia. The replicas look real and you can appreciate, how precise the replicas are. My favourite (which may be to your surprise) are the "air bungkus", where it looks like original. The teh o, milo, horlicks and limau ais look fantastic. It also houses the giant replicas of sate, Chee cheong fun, asam laksa and the main attraction of all, Giant Cendol. Apart from those gigantic size replicas, it also has miniatures of stalls ranging of all Malaysian communities favourite dishes. Other must see objects include giant fruits and also list of almost unavailable food in Malaysia which are common in the old days.

I like to find weird museums on my travels so I was happy to discover this. It's a great place and well worth visiting. If you read you'll learn a lot about different food but the miniature and giant food models are incredible! There's so much attention to detail. The staff are really helpful too with taking photos and telling you how to hold the props properly. One staff member returned my water bottle to me when I'd left it near one of the displays. Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone who likes taking photos and being in a fun place. Thank you to the creators of the museum and the staff for making this a great experience.

Very nice place to visit and learn about food and culture. I like the info of h food that almost extinct. Love how they decorate and describe the food. I like the miniature of Malaysia food stall. Good job! Even though at entrance, i face some difficulties, because i left my ic in car, but i understand they just doing their job. Staff inside is also helpful. He help to take our family photo. However, i suggest for your photo area to have more variety of item. Like mugs with photo, or sell soft copy photo. Or allow to buy 1 photo and get all softcopy too

The place is nice and the staff also friendly. But why i give 2stars? Its because of the PHOTOGRAPHER, every section he stops us for him to take a pitcures, and what camera model is it, canon ?nikon? Its RM25 per photo and i thought he will edit it after we select, well nope! He just add "wonder food museum" at the bottom of the photo and thats it RM25. Me at 12y/o is much better in photo editing then him, using nokia n70. I feel like i just got scammed by your photographer. Shame ,so disappointed.

The Wonder Food Museum, as the name suggests, is a museum filled with wonder, equipped with practically all the local and overseas cuisines you can think of. The foods on display are hyper realistic, and tend to call for the deep hunger resting within you. The place itself has an ample variety of items exhibited, and visitors, especially those coming in with family members, will surely feel satiated during the visit. Feast your eyes with many of the scrumptious foods on display, and while visiting here you might as well decide on your next stops of restaurants to have meals in, given the vast potpourri of artificial foods being portrayed.

It's definitely worth visiting here when you are a lover of food and happen to be visiting Penang. The food here looks so realistic and I praise the artistic and clever people who created these replicas. What a great way to celebrate culture by exploring food from some wonderful places. The only gripe I have is that I was overcharged at the museum shop and didn't realise this until I looked at my receipt when I got back to the hotel. If you happen to purchase something from there, please take a look at the receipt and make sure you have been charged properly.

Entered with the Mykad discount, hence the cheaper price (RM15 I think). For that price, it's worth a visit. Great attention to detail on the food recreations. There are some details and history of some of the exhibitions. Upstairs, there are more interesting things to look at and take pictures of.

Worth the visit! Reminder: if you come in group, please prepare your IC earlier because they want to see each one of it including kids’. A lot of things / display you can interact with along the path. There’s a buttons you may push, quizzes along the route! And stuff to take pic as if it is real! Also a lot of things you may not touch too, those with kids hv to be more alert! Some spaces are not spacios, so you may hv to wait or queue in order to take pics or pass by but overall personally I like the place! Merch shop in the end provide loads of related postcards. Sadly, the place only accept cash at the time I was there and if you wanna buy with klook apps, book a day earlier!

The ticket price during my visits RM 20 for adult and RM 10 for kids. If you plan to take a photo the variety of local food in Malaysia, this is the place. You can snap a lot of photos with the food here. This place have 2 floors, you can walk around and take a photo. Others than that, nothing.

A nice experience. Lot of interactive displays. Good information on foods especially what they have in Penang. The downside was probably the tickets or entrance fees. Quite expensive although most of interactive museums here charge quite the same amount. All in all, a meaningful visit for our family.

It was a very interesting and informative museum. They have demonstrated how close food is to the day to day lives of Malaysians and the diversity of cultures in the nation. Reminded me there are still plenty of food to experience in the country and the history behind them. There are also plenty of props for people to take pictures with. It was a very enjoyable experience.

Well worth it! 28RM admission for foreigners, but really an interesting museum. Lots of info and great food replicas (big and small). Spent more time here than expected, which was a good thing really!

Fun and interesting museum suitable for visiting with friends or family. Lots of photo areas and fun facts in the museum. Staff stationed around the location to help taking photos. There are also miniatures besides the larger than life exhibited food showing how different races lived in olden days. An educational and enriching attraction, the whole family enjoyed it :)

This was such a fun museum, especially for someone having had and loving all the cuisine they were showcasing. It took you through a journey of all things Malaysian food. The staff were pretty friendly and helpful too. Totally recommended.

Definitely a must visit. Our family enjoyed this the most. A lot of effort is being put into creating the best food replica experience and they even have various costumes for you to take photos. This place brought us so much laughter and fun. Love it.

A fun and informative museum. Walk through the history of George Town with detailed and artistic dioramas. Take funny photos with clever optical illusions. Learn about the role of food in society and it’s impact on our environment and ecology. I recommend taking your time to read all the descriptions and to take a moment to appreciate the messages behind the art. A guide follows you through the museum to take your photo. There are free water refilling stations and bathrooms. I highly recommend visiting!

The museum was more than I expected. Very informative and nice way to learn about Malaysian cuisine for first timer like me. Thanks to this museum I was able to know what kind of food they have at the streets and restaurants!

Is an art piece and frankly speaking their skills of replicating the food is top notch as I know all these are famous from Japan. Well done Malaysia!! Is a must go if you have time to spend in Georgetown. For sure you will not regret and their staffs will help to take photos of you and / or your family. If you're a foreign, you even need to spend time and understand the Malaysia food culture and why we are called the food paradise..

I recommend to buy ticket in advance, yes, online. You can save MYR2-3 per tix. But, within 24hrs. I love how it works. The efforts of crafting the mini model are superb. You can learn variety type of foods from different type of races, Chinese, Indian, Malay! Also, they offered many huge models for us to take photos! Worth your visit (berbaloiiiiii) I love all the quotes on the wall! ❤️ *what if food has no color? Only black and white? *what if, what if.. 🫶

Well worth a visit. Rm30 for adults and cheaper for children and senior citizens. You can see the full range of food available in Penang and Malaysia as well as meaningful messages about some of them. Also the msg about sugar and fats is provided in a fun manner. Should visit.

Such a fun place to visit. We just had our breakfast. But, looking at a huge bowl of laksa penang here make us extremely hungry. You can find a variety of dishes, fruits, and "kuih" here. They look so real. Highly recommended place to visit in Penang island.
