(Edited review due to grammatical errors, stayed in the hostel in October 2019.) I stayed in a few hostels around Europe while travelling, but I must say Hostel Ah Wai, Hostel Ah Zhi was one of the best hostels I've ever been. And it's in Alor Setar, Kedah of all places! Zhi herself welcomed me and she was very nice and so helpful. The hostel was clean and cosy with the vintage vibe. It was such a unique and exciting experience to sleep in a tent indoor. The hostel was also within walking distance to the tourist attractions such as the murals of Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tun Dr Mahathir, Pekan Rabu, Balai Seni Negeri Kedah, Muzium Diraja, Masjid Zahir (to name a few). If I visit Alor Setar in the future I will definitely stay here again. Thank you for the "glamping" experience!

This is my 1st time staying in this kind of place and it was really interesting with a great experience. The place itself are comfy, beautiful, antique. If you went to the shower, you will notice something so unique at the sink. The tent is really nice and comfy. Have an earplug if you want to wear at night bcoz the place are just next to the road. The kitchen are simple. Still like it. There is few games that we can play in a team. I like it. Will do come here with my friends.

Great location, within walking distance to many attractions and local food. Comfortable bed in a tent concept with a mini fan, reading light and power plug to charge phone. Good internet connection. Vintage deco, friendly host and home away from home.

This place is the BEST place to stay in Alor Setar if you want a place that is packed full of culture and history and not a run of the mill characterless room. We were a family of two adults and two children and it was a comfortable stay. The tents have very comfortable beds and have a light, a fan and an adapter for all your charging needs. The hosts are super friendly and keep in touch via WhatsApp to make sure all your needs are taken care of. The price is such good value as they provide tea, coffee, bread, jams, and a nasi lemak is provided for breakfast too. Plus we were able to wash and dry our clothes which was fantastic. For anyone who is not sure about the shared bathroom concept, don't be afraid! The bathrooms are high tech, very very clean and the deco is beautiful....we cannot wait to come back some day soon!!
