Utterly Amazing, I Got Goose Bumps just stepping through the Door! There seemed to be another Presence in the place and it was comforting, Much like my Grandmother's Little house in Manitoba near the Red River where I Used to Run Through the Nearby Woods !! Glorious !

This was a great visit to the Proprietary House! Everything was decorated for Christmas and there was even live music. We learned so much! I’m pleased that they have so many exciting events planned!

I am not even sure where to start, this place has sooo much history, spirit, breath taking, i have experienced mixed emotions, nostalgic, sad, romance, inspiration, lots of historical information. But most importantly I was amazed how careful delicate and passionate was our guide and everyone work here. Thank you πŸ™ for maintaining this place. I want everyone to be able to come to visit this beautiful magic place.

I live 6 houses up from here, and I always remember as a kid playing in the parking lot and saying to my friends you can see a ghost at the top window. I also did a couple of tours and it was a good experience. I will be bringing my kids next time!

We booked the Historical Experience tour and it was great! Our group were of 7 people. All the staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. This was a great way of bringing history to life! I would recommend this to anyone visiting New Jersey who wanted to see something important related to the United States History. The tea room is MUST HAVE to visit! The room is very beautiful and their complimentary dessert are delicious

Sadly I have to give this 1 star bcz we drove over an hour to go see this Wednesday but there was no one there at all. No signs saying closed, nothing. Website says open every Wednesday and Sunday 1-4pm. Gas prices are too high to waste driving to places that can't update their website. No one answers the phones either.

I had no experience because the house was closed. However, the FB page and the website, including their calendar did not specify it was closed. Very disappointing.

I took a walking tour organized by The Proprietary House and it was above and beyond expectations. There were several leaders and all of them knowledgeable and friendly, and the entire event was thoughtfully prepared. Highly recommend! They definitely do their city of Perth Amboy proud.

We went for Twelfth Night Triviaβ€”NJ history with historian Fred Rossi leading us. Wine, lovely desserts, free local honey, cool facts and lots of hilarity. Wonderful!

We visit every year. This time we brought my autistic 7 year old grandson. He was curious and entered with a slightly raised voice. The tour guide stopped and gave a look of disdain. My daughter told him to use his inside voice and the guide repeated this and laughed. The group turned and stared. It's important to be inclusive and welcoming to all. We removed ourselves and toured on our own. This unfortunate experience won't prevent us from visiting again.

My husband and I discovered a piece of New Jersey history that we had never known about. This weekend we watched the documentary entitled "Benjamin Franklin. A Film by Ken Burns." We learned of the "Proprietary House" in Perth Amboy, whose best known resident was New Jersey's last royal governor, William Franklin (son of our Founding Father, Benjamin Franklin). Our docent, Rene, was fantastic. She walked us through the history of the house and its many residents. What a great tour we had. We can't wait to come back and plan for a cup of tea. Thanks so much.
