FAULTLESS SERVICE, GREAT FOOD AND GREAT DRINKS!! We were in Perth for work for a couple of days and asked Google to find us a nice restaurant for dinner.. Lalla Rookh (and Google) didn't disappoint :) A causal, cozy yet sophisticated bar / restaurant tucked away downstairs in St Georges Terrace. Offers both alfresco (cut away roof open to street and indoor seating options. Great menu choices (Italian themed) and a very broad drinks list. Staff are super friendly and attentive. Food is very well presented and manages to retain Italian authenticity and reach out to other cuisines. Not at all noisy and a very comfortable environment... we'll be back :)

Worst dining experience in a while. Tasteless arancini. The seafood pasta was just bits of dried fish cut up in bite size pieces in very ordinary sauce - totally bland. Only good dish was the octopus. Would not recommend.

Very attentive service, we had the chefs selection of 6 courses 4 out of 6 were great. The pork crust was too salty and the past course presentation was pretty slack for a place that is supposed to be high end. The wine list was very great and I was pleased with all four wines we tried.

Very disappointed. Had read about this place on a few Perth lists, and liked the expansive ambience when we walked in. However all three of our dishes were underwhelming. The gnochhi was super oily, the mushroom and ox cheek ragu was heavy on the pasta and the lacked the richness of slow cooked ragu, the smoked risotto was bland, perhaps a bit undercooked. Noone came to check up on the dishes, and we ended up leaving without having the dessert we initially ordered. Only saving grace? Delicious coffees.

Liked the atmosphere here, had a dining area and a separate bar area. Enjoyed the food particularly the pizza. Was a bit disappointed with the service, had to wait awhile to get served. Once seated offered still or sparking water, asked for still and found out when getting the bill the still water was 5$ each! Cost not mentioned when the water was offered and it was poured out of a refillable container - what am I paying for?

First visit here for me. We had the 'il Capo'/Chef's tasting menu which was 6 shared courses; influenced by seasonality, local produce & signature dishes. It was divine! So fresh and the flavours and textures were outstanding. The staff were friendly and attentive and the wine list was incredible. I'll definitely be back.

Friendly staff great atmosphere

These guys deserve a way higher review score. Staff were warm, welcoming and attentive. Food was super delicious and quick to the table. The venue is well spaced out and has a really nice romantic vibe. The Salt Cod Fritters and the Carpaccio, a must!

Great food. Has two lovely areas - a pub area in the front and a nice quieter dining area in the back. Price is pretty standard.

We did the tasting menu We let the waiter choose the matched wines Middle/Clam/Salmon Roe. The clam overpowers and gives a saltiness that is a tad too much. I like seafood I don’t want to be sipping the sea as I eat Zucchini flower stuffed with mozzarella. Was delightful Rabbit Liver with Polent and Mushroom. Gnocchi with Pecorino and Black Pepper and Butter Steak with green salsa and white pea salsa Dessert cannelloni. Overall the meal was good The wine matching was excellent. Truly the chap knower his varieties. His service was 5 stars however a bit let down with no dessert wine.

The staff were friendly and helpful with our order and the meals were great. Located next to the Mary Street Bakery. A good place to stir back and relax.

Very expensive for unremarkable food. Arancini, $18, was four tiny morsels of bland food served without sauce or garnish. Far better places to eat in the CBD—go elsewhere.

Had our work Christmas night out here - had an amazing night. Staff were all on the ball the full night - we never once had an empty glass. Food was all served together and everyone enjoyed theres. Cocktails were so good too.

Always a great night to be had at Lalla Rookh, brilliantly cooked food, Italian at heart but with lots of modern twists and quirks. Fantastic wine selection and a dedicated wine room off the main restaurant. Large bar area up front with regularly changing tap beers, all Australian to boot. Good for after work drinks or a catch up as well as a nice meal. Il capo menu is always good, 6 courses chosen by the chef to share. Pizzas are proper and authentic.

Food was delicious, all the dishes we ordered did not disappoint, cocktails were nice but were served long after we got our food even though we ordered them first. Noisy environment means it's hard to have intimate conversations.

Lovely place to hang out with family, friends or colleagues, lots of sitting area inside and outside the restaurant. Inside they have many separate and different sitting arrangements with dimming light and light music. Lovely wine was served as per our choices. Food was also good but would have been better if they had more choices in vegetarian / vegan food. We ordered roast root vegetables, stracciatella papita 5/5 Quattro formaggi arancini 5/5 Potato gnocchi 5/5 Broccoli risotto 5/5 Pasta in red sauce 2/5 Pizza with burnt Honey 1/5 it could have been better Over all a very pleasant evening spent at Lalla rookh

Haven't been here since I was a college mess and it was great to be able to come back when I could afford a proper meal. The service was prompt, professional and friendly even with the after work crowd filing in. Our server was attentive, and we were well taken care of even though we were just popping in for a pre-show bite. Food was great! Fried potatoes were chunky and faultless, and the summer melon was perfect for the hot weather.

Amazing food some twists on well kmown dishes that really worked

Excellent service, very friendly staff! We got the 6 course meal (chef's selection) and had to leave early so we couldn't get dessert. We came back a few hours later and even though the kitchen was closing they still served us dessert. That was very nice. Food was really good too, the chef's selection had some really interesting dishes such as watermelon and bocconcini chesse. Also, they make their own pasta which is great! I would definitely recommend coming here. It's a good place to come for drinks too.

I really love this place. It has 3 different ambiences, courtyard for causal eating, sit in restaurant and wine store. You essential a have buy 1 get 3 vibes free! The service for me was impeccable. This felt like Melbourne, New York, Asia hybrid service. The barkeep give me an education with the fine wines, the waiters introduced the dishes we ordered and the fit out felt truly on point. Kudos to the owners and the managers and training for the staff. In photos Vongole, Crab Spaghettini, gluten free fried chicken all fantastic!

Delicious food, relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. Definitely recommend.

Pretty standard after-work drinks spot. Tap beers could be more adventurous. Reasonable prices and a happy hour between 5-6pm so overall not bad.

Good night out

We had the pizza special which was a perfect balance of flavour and simple choice of ingredients, unusually tasty and a perfect crust. We Added to our lunch a serve of arancini and a serve of fried chicken also delicious we couldn't finish it all so took some home in a box. I can also I say the service was notably good, the waiter could comfortably describe everything on the menu, thank you for a great break in our day. If you go there remember to try the warm fresh bread served just before the meal with a drizzle of the olive oil from the bottles on the table. An added surprise.

A Most disappointing experience. Yesterday ie Friday 15 Jan 2021, a group of friends had lunch at your place. Feedback Service Below average Staff were non engaging, seem disconnected and mostly seem unhappy. I don’t think we felt quite welcomed Food I ordered the seafood spaghettini For $34, this dish offered almost 0 value Seafood consisted mainly of 1 little prawn around half an inch, 3 mouthfuls of squid and the rest was the spags... the only saving grace was the taste I tried 3 times to write to you via your info email but it doesn’t allow me to send this to you This feedback has been made without any malice or intent except to give you my take on the overall experience just in case you are not aware of it I went away feeling quite dissatisfied

We've been here a number of times and returned on the 24th March for the first time since the start of covid. To be honest, it's simply not quite as good. Service was a bit hit and miss, I would think you should get served bread at the beginning of the il Capo and the overall serving quantity of the il Capo was quite disappointing. We will give it another go some day but was disappointed in general.

The food was lovely and the service was mostly good, but could be improved upon - particularly towards the end of the night.

Lovely staff. I always smile when ordering there as the bar crew always are so friendly and ready for a chat. Seems like a good place to work. Great location off the street in Perth, good food in the restaurant too. Happy to recommend.

Absolutely disgusting service by the manager and wait staff last night. Very rude towards our table of 7, took their time to ask for our drinks + food order. Told one of our friends off for blocking the isle when she was made to stand up. More than 5 spare tables in view and none of the tables had been filled by the time we ate and left. No communication by the staff with our table. Only exception was the amazing food and drinks, disappointing service. Only recommend this place for good food, beware of the poor service and lack of communication.

Went with a small group of friends here on Saturday night. We found a quieter table at the end of the restaurant. A very solid performance with the various plates of pasta. I had the papardelle with braised rabbit and green vegetables. My attractive spouse consumed a really delicious crab linguini. The food was supported by a Spanish Tempranillo from Rioga, expertly chosen. The desert was a affogato with rum and raisin ice cream. The service was great deserving of a substantial tip. Excellent all round performance.

It's ok good atmosphere, but maybe coulr have catered better to our group size.

We were warmly welcomed by the front of house staff and taken to our table. The restaurant was pretty quiet when we got there at 7.30pm on a Saturday night but got busier as the night went on. Service was excellent, water was topped up regularly, specials were explained and wait staff were polite and efficient. Wine list is extensive and interesting. The food was outstanding, particularly the amazing desserts. Overall we had a fantastic night here and we were very impressed by everytyhing about Lalla Rookh. Highly recommended!

The food at Lalla Rockh was delicious. We had the arancini, beef, squid ink spaghetti and the fish of the day which was the snapper - really fresh. Service was great despite it being busy!

Absolutely beautiful food and such kind service! Me and my boyfriend went tonight for our anniversary dinner and we got the 6 course tasting menu! My gosh everything was spot on with taste, portion and look! We will definitely be coming back! ☺️

Slightly more on the pricey side but well worth the price. Each portion is cooked to perfection. I've been here 5 times and each time have been welcomed back with friendly, helpful staff and sensational food.The ambience is nice, the tables spacious where I have my own privacy amongst the tables. Recommended: beef carpaccio, lamb ragu

Absolutely stunning food and wine, with attentive table service throughout the meal. However, at 0915pm Saturday night we were told we were unable to view the dessert menu as they were closed. By 0930pm staff had closed the bar down and began cleaning up floors/tables around us. 0950pm the check was dropped on our table without it being requested and at 1000pm the EFTPOS machine was waved in our face without so much as a thanks for coming. We'd not even finished our wine and there was no suggestion made for us to relocate to the wine bar. Rude behaviour that completely ruined what would have been a perfect dining experience. Embarrassed I made the recommendation to eat here.

Was recommended by the concierge at the Hilton hotel and certainly wasn't disappointed. Everything was spot on, food, beverage and service all 1st class. Will be back next time I'm in Perth. A special mention to Dannio for excellent food recommendations 👍

Came in for a quick drink while we waited for a booking at a restaurant nearby, unfortunately the bar lady gave my friends a death glare because I ordered a drink and they didn't order anything. Typical behaviour for bar staff but given such a nice place I was expecting something more friendly since they accompanied a paying guest when the bar was completely empty🤷. Would have given 1 star but the bar lady I returned my glass too at least smiled back.

I'm a regular here, have been coming since it opened. The wine shop/bar to the side of the restaurant is a treasure trove. They have secured deals on wine here that you will struggle to find anywhere in Australia, My favourites are the small French/Italian wines that are so obscure they don't even have websites, but they make the most amazing wine you never heard of!! The food menu is always getting updated and fresh, so I never get bored. The fish of the day is a staple for me, locally caught, usually pink snapper or similar - perfectly cooked and complemented with amazing salads - High end food that is made with love!

A reliable work favourite - service isn't the fastest but the food is well worth the wait.

So good to be back at LR after the CV19 lockdown. Smashed the yummy gnocchi and my colleague tucked into a well cooked veal dish. The Frankland River Shiraz back both dishes well. Good service and nice ambience - thanks TR team! Highly recommended.

Took my parter here on Friday for date night based on google reviews and was very happy. The food was fantastic, we ordered the salted cod entree based off recommendations here and cannot fault. We also enjoyed the arancini, risotto and beef cheek pasta. The restaurant is a bit $$ and loud, but this is based off my incorrect expectation of a restaurant not a bar. Knowing this, the atmosphere is lovely I will happy recommend and return.

Having waited a while before coming here I left a little disappointed with the whole evening. I have eaten at many places in and around Perth. And have some great benchmarks in terms of quality meals and evenings out dining. Unfortunately, Lalla Rookh doesn't make it into that list. Everything was just a little too underwhelming. From the mushroom risotto that tasted bland, and had a few mushrooms scattered in. To the gnocchi that was over cooked and mushy. The litmus test for me is "would I return?". I'm afraid the answer is no.

Hard to read Italian and English menu. Make all Italiano or inglese. Food was molto bene

Really cool place and the food is excellent!

Went here for drinks and food with the company. Expensive menu, beers ok, wine was average and expensive. Atmosphere ok, plane was clean. Didn't wait long at the bar and they have some decent single malts. I had the $66 T bone steak, that's all you get for your money, steak was well cooked but way overpriced. If it was my money, I wouldn't be going back, better places at half the price.

Took my team for lunch to Lalla Rookh last Friday. Food was delicious (everyone's plates were empty by the end of the meal). Service was great and the atmosphere fantastic. The experience was not out of this world, but everyone had a great time. Will definitely recommend it to anyone.

Exceptional pizza. Thin base, but edges puffy and full of air. Not overloaded with toppings but balanced so well and amazing flavour. Service was exceptional also. We will be back.

Great wine selection, great service, great food. The smaller Wine Room is a particularly lovely space if you're looking to sit and catch up with old friends enjoying a particularly good drop.
