Despite a relatively poor experience during my last stay, I went against my gut and tried to give the Duxton another chance. Unfortunately I should have listened to my gut and gone elsewhere. The experience from start to finish put last times visit to shame and I feel it really needs to be shared. I checked in relatively late(11pm) after a long flight in from Sydney, First red flag was the Person who checked me in asked for a 900 dollar holding deposit after my fellow crew had been charged 200. I politely let the Staff member know that 900 dollars was rather abnormal and my colleagues were all charged 200, however he wouldn’t relent. I proceed to pay this absurd surprise hold knowing I’d get it back either way, but still not a great start. What really made the night shine was being given the key to another guest's room and walking in on said guest in the buff. After reporting it to the manager the next morning and having him seem fairly serious about the matter, I found no further follow-up or response to the matter.. While the old style of the hotel might be charming, its facilities are degraded and in serious disrepair. The sink in my room was unusable as the water sprayed everywhere except the sink, I found myself using the tap for the bathtub instead. The bed must have been an actual slab of cement with some foam on top. The internet is barely passable for watching shows and barely let me work. And the room is incredibly well worn. All these were fairly minor complaints, and I wouldn’t even mention them if it weren't for my first night experience. Unfortunately, however, all the above leads me to give the Duxton 1 star and not recommend it.

High Tea at the Duxton restaurant for lunch on mothers day was perfectly divine! Surpassed all expectations for quality and customer service. Special thank you to Benson who looked after us beautifully & all other staff were also extremely attentive & polite. Can't recommend highly enough 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Firstly, a big thanks to Abbey at the front desk. She was so polite and helpful. The rooms are newly refurbished. I had stayed here before when it was a drab golden wood. Now it's lovely and new. Bathrooms have nonslip floors. Great location. Will come again. Thank you

Suggest skipping the view. While nice for a night, they charge more and its rather distant so if you are here awhile maybe don't bother. Abby at the front desk is absolutely awesome. Ultra professional, welcoming, efficient and clearly knows the value of guest time. However, the breakfast coffee service is terrible. I suggest not bothering as the breakfast is not worth the $45 charged and nearby options on Hays St are plentiful. Audio privacy in rooms is poor. Hotel refused to provide 1PM checkout after staying for a week, not impressed.

Celebrated my birthday dinner at Duxton Hotel Perth, and it was truly memorable! The atmosphere was enchanting, setting the perfect tone for a special evening. The beef steak and fried prawns were absolutely delicious, a culinary delight that exceeded expectations. The overall experience, complemented by the charming ambiance, made it a celebration to remember. Highly recommend for those seeking a fantastic dining experience!

Went to a wedding there a month ago. Food was a disgrace. The meat was that raw a good veterinary doctor could’ve brought it back to life. Hotel room was average and the service was terrible. For breakfast they served some nice frozen hash browns

This hotel has to be one of my absolute favourites! The level of old-fashion luxury is top-tier. The staff and the atmosphere of the hotel screams glamour. The club rooms are definitely worth that extra $$ for the executive lounge. I loved every bit of this hotel. It felt like being in an old movie inside a luxurious hotel.

This hotel is located in Perth and is close to many shops. The rooms and all facilities are spotless. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. We will definitely stay at the Duxton again!

Went on Christmas day for dinner. While the meats and salads were fine the seafood was terrible. The prawns were soft and needed cleaning after taking off heads. The mussels were dry and tasteless. It was like they had been left over from lunch and put in fridge for dinner. As for the beer, it was served no where near as cold as it should be. Overall disappointed.

Nice spacious rooms here. The restaurant here is nice too. Really nice reception area. Good location in the city right next to Perth concert hall. Bedrooms are well laid out along with the en suite bathrooms.

A great VIP experience from start to finish. Was there for a VIP birthday party, the carpark was full, but Valet made exception and allowed us to park in front of hotel. Food, venue. Can't fault. Top notch.

Went here to stay a night for a friends birthday celebration. The staff were incredibly nice and the rooms were perfectly clean, the building is easily accessible and offers a valet service. Room service was timely, organised and delicious, they also provided a free bottle of wine and cake for the birthday. Very nice place overall.

Room: Deluxe King River Room A true 5 star experience. Check-in procedure was flawless, concierge was proactive and attentive. From the minute we pulled up at the front of the hotel, the service was impeccable. The room was of excellent quality and all furnishings, fitments and surfaces were modern, stylish and clean. The air conditioning could not have been better and the views were as promised. Main meals via room service were large servings and were fresh. We didn't eat at the restaurant so cannot comment on that experience. We truly felt like we were being looked after through our entire visit. The Duxton is on my shortlist of hotels I would stay at again without hesitation.

Sadly, we didn't make it past check-in thanks to the rude service we got from Management. We had booked a room to celebrate my daughter who turned 9 yesterday (the day we were checking in). In conversation, we found out the swimming pool was closed. My girls were so disappointed as it was one of the major reasons for booking the hotel. This is where I felt completely let down. I asked if there is anything that can be done, the Manager came forward and said she could do absolutely nothing but the worst part is that she had zero empathy, care, or concern. When I asked her why we weren't told about the swimming pool, she said we hadn't specifically requested a pool(!?!). After a bit of insistence, she scoffed at us while saying she could give us a 10% discount. She also told us that we hadn't paid, implying she could cancel the reservation. I felt that she did not want us as customers, that was abundantly clear. I immediately phoned the Ritz Carlton and booked a room. We had a COMPLETELY delightful experience there so I am about to go give them a 5-star review. SO disappointing as I have stayed at the Duxton in other cities and had a good experience. I feel the Manager really let the entire service team down. At the minimum I was hoping for was a 'So sorry, happy birthday to you daughter, this must be so disappointing.' Instead, we got contempt.

A fabulous weekend getaway with friends was made all the more special by the care and attention of the staff. The facilities in the Club Suites were exceptional. The club lounge offerings we're very good and it was also great too use the lounge for coffee and relaxing during the day. Breakfast offerings were delicious. Special mention to Alex at reception and Cameron at Concierge for their superb service. Will definitely come back and highly recommend this hotel.

Large rooms, well cleaned, looks new and modern. Heated towel racks and full length mirror are welcome additions to the experience. Some minor issues with the access card and housekeeping which were rectified promptly. A solid 4.5 in my opinion. P.S. great pens

Beautiful hotel and facilities! Room was amazing and clean. Thank you to Vy at reception who was more than happy to take some photos for us in front of the Christmas decorations. Would not recommend room service though unfortunately. On two occasions we did not receive what we asked/paid for and when disputed on check out we were told room service was a separate business to the hotel? So we had to pay the full amount and wait to see what happens..

Stunning presentation as you walk in. Staff and management are very nice courteous. Rooms are modern, great quality and lovely. We were had interconnecting rooms. The beds and pillows are the most comfortable I have ever experienced. We came here for a school graduation dinner in the ball - the ballroom was decorated so elegantly and the buffet dinner provided was fantastic. Buffet Breakfast is fantastic, highlight is the waffles! They have something for everyone, an egg station, pastries, yoghurts, cereals, a variety of hot dishes to choose from, juices, fruits etc. Great location in Perth.

The Duxton has an amazing view and with Elizabeth Quay right there it’s in a prime location. The service is great, and the rooms look stunning and feel luxurious. However our shower didn’t drain properly and flooded twice and we had the squeegee the water with a towel into a drain before it got into the carpet. The near flooding emergency was my only complaint and I loved my stay here. The addition of a “vanity” kit in the bathroom with Q-tips was greatly appreciated.

The service was amazing and the breakfast was on point. When we arrived I expected it do be 500+ coming from Melbourne but it was 200 a night in a very nice room on the ninth floor. The location is great as it is next to the centre of Perth and right beside it is the projector which shines onto the church. It is really packed at night and the pub was great aswell. The London street is a must go being so close and while we were there there was a Bhutan festival on the beach.

Thank you so much Duxton team for a wonderful stay! You made my best friend's 40th surprise very special with the added touch of a birthday cake and bottle of sparkling in the room on arrival. All staff we're so friendly and the food at the restaurant was fantastic, I'm especially thankful for the gluten free options!

Famous for formerly being the Tax Office, the Duxton hotel is well known in Perth. My room was good without anything spectacular to note. The hotel is slightly showing its age , but it does have a pool and gym, as well as a lobby bar and restaurant. Location wise a bit further down from the top of St George's Terrace, and taxis / ubers need to turn into a side street in order to get to driveway.

Absolutely loved it. They made me feel special on my birthday. We had an amazing King Riverview Room. The service was amazing they were helpful every time we needed something. The location was perfect we were able to walk every where. The restaurant was amazing. I can't wait to go back.😊

Decided to go to the Hotel bar here for a drink after having dinner in the city. The bar has a nice ambiance with plenty of seating including outdoor seating. Very quiet there with only a few people. They also have food available in the bar until late each night. The service was nice and prompt however the bar staff seemed pretty uptight and not friendly. We decided to go back the following day as we were walking past and this time different bar staff and they seemed better.

First time staying at the Duxton & was pleasantly surprised at the top quality venue & service. Can thoroughly recommend the club rooms & club lounge. Very spoilt for food choice & drinks service. The included breakfast was also a lovely dining experience with plenty of options & presented superbly. Definitely enjoyed the whole intimate setting & service.

Our family had fun especially our children. The bday celbration of my niece was amazing because of the staff from reception, concierge, restaurant and housekeeping. We will highly recommended your hotel and we will definitely be back in the future. Thank you very much for treating us well. You are all amazing!

The windows were really grimy couldnt hardly see out them. A building next door obscured most of any view. Breakfast was poor and rather stupid idea cooking eggs while each person waits. Meanwhile the rest of breakfast is going cold on the plate. Hot drink coffee and tea was lukewarm. Cost should be half of the $45 they charged. Very mediocre. Staff all friendly. Beds very comfortable. I think this hotel is over rated however. And pls owner take these comments as positive criticism and don't comment as you did in the review for Scott Puddy.

The Duxton markets itself as a 5 star hotel, and whilst it falls a little short in some areas, I think it’s actually good value for what you get. The common areas are very dated (80s/90s) but everything is well presented and well kept. The rooms are a bit more contemporary, generously proportioned and very comfortable. It’s a short walk to the centre of Perth, but if you are carrying shopping or feeling tired at the end of the day you may wish it were more centrally located. We had dinner at the restaurant which was excellent, but room service breakfast was a bit disappointing. The food on our second morning was a little cold - also wish they had an online ordering system - the only option is calling them on the hotel landline. I didn’t get to use it, but the gym had lots of equipment and was quite professional for a hotel. Overall we were happy we chose the Duxton and would stay again.

Only good thing going for this hotel is the location. The rooms are outdated, the food there is atrocious, honestly recommend staying anywhere else but this place. So many nearby hotels to pick. I was also greeted by the GM of the place who comes across quite rude and arrogant as we asked for extra toiletries and he questioned our request. Avoid at all cost. Also they tried to upsell me to their new years ball which is laughable to even think spending your new years at this hotel.

it was a nice stay for a night - would recommend skipping the river view as the windows were small and quite dirty. check in is very late (3pm), we had to wait 30 minutes because they said our room wasn’t ready yet, we were really disappointed in this. We didn’t get toothpaste in the room and we had to ask for it. I had emailed the duxton a month prior to our stay and i never got a response back. There should be an easier way to access the carpark from the hotel. the room was very clean, water pressure was good and we got complimentary waters. We got a glass of champagne in the foyer which was lovely. id recommend only staying here if you are doing the packages.

Decent hotel with reasonable service, we actually had better expectations as it is rated 5 star hotel. Chosen this instead of Novotel & inter continental for wife’s bday but wasn’t better than our expectations. Had few dirt/rubbish on the floor as we entered our room underneath table/furniture. Anyways breakfast was good and facilities are there to be used like gym, sauna, pool etc. Located on the corner of Victoria ave and St Georges tce therefore parking is completely paid which is another drawback in my opinion.

Nice and warm welcome environment, especially the service from Shoba. Really appreciate with her amazing professional service, taking all my needs into account and suggested a perfect room for our stay. My partner had a great Birthday in Duxton based on her professional service. Definitely will go again for any of our special events. Thanks Shoba and thanks Duxton.

Wonderful hotel in the heart of the city. The staff work very hard to accomodate my severe allergies. I cannot praise them highly enough. The facilities are all first rate. Very comfortable and clean. This is our second visit here.

I stayed here with my family and during our stay the staff were very professional and friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable, it was nice to stay in a hotel with old fashion charm that made you feel special. We had a glass of champagne on arrival and the food at the elegant restaurant was delicious. We definitely recommend and will be back.

Stayed in club room loved the size of room canapes and drinks at night and all the extras at the top floor. And a dedicated lift now that's just like turning left on the airane over turning right to economy. Great location in the city excellent breakfast had a great time watching movies etc on the big screen TV.

Had a club room for a night. Started off well with Adele on the front desk checking us in who was pleasant and friendly. Room was spacious and clean and great big bathroom. Nice surprise that all in house movies were free and complimentary soft drink from mini bar. Club room had excellent service and free flowing drinks. Breakfast at firehouse grill was delicious. Would recommend a night here. Only thing it needs is a bigger better pool area. If it did this would be the place to go instead of crown.

Stayed 2 nights in a Club River View room which was worth it. Due to Covid breakfast had to be taken at the Firewater Grill and was a restricted but adequate menu. Evening drinks and canapes in the Club Lounge were excellent with a great choice of both. We have stayed here several times and our only complaint is that the pool isn't heated and on a 38 degree day it is still freezing.

Staying here was on my bucket list and it didn't disappoint. We chose valet parking and it was worth the money. Lovely welcoming staff, we were booked in by Raj he is so friendly and helpful and a real gem to the company. Our entire stay has been incredible. From the room to the restaurant, bar and club lounge. If you want to feel like you’re in paradise, spend the extra amount and go for the club suite. You won’t regret it. Thankyou to the staff at the Duxton for making the stay so enjoyable! We will be back

Booked in for our 5 year anniversary for 2 night at the end of December, room pricing is was reasonably for the time of the year, We requested a 2pm check in and was given a earlier one which was great so we could dump a luggage and go and get lunch Check in was quick and simple, Adele was friendly and efficient and felt like she enjoys her job. Deserves a gold star Room is well set out with a comfortable bed, bathroom is good will a large shower so plenty of room to have a couples shower. View of the room was of the court house and some of the foreshore. Air con is an older system so it would cool but no ice cold but kept the room cool enough They had a promotion going where the room came with chocolates and a 6 pack of Cc with soda and lime which was a nice bonus After we come back from lunch there was a bottle of sparkling wine for us to celebration our 5 year anniversary which was really nice touch As with most reviews the pool area is very subpar and if you want a pool to swim in suggest book some where else. The area surrounding the pool is plastic wood so it gets quiet hot. Also charge 5 dollar delivery fee if you want pool bar service. All in all it a nice hotel for a weekend getaway. Will stay again but only for one night especially in summer with pool not been that great

  • 5/5 Michelle J. 1 year ago on Google
Wow..... why would you stay anywhere else! Rooms perfect, building and lobby stunning. Pool is lovely and the buffet breakfast was delicious 😋 The staff are all very professional, friendly and helpful as well. Will definitely stay again. The concierge and Valet parking a luxury but well worth it. Room service was very prompt and delicious also.

Really disappointing. Made the mistake of upgrading to a River View room - there is almost no view and the windows are absolutely filthy. Small room, empty bar fridge (why even bother if you are not going to stock it??), your knees hit the toilet roll, even though there is plenty of room in the bathroom - although the blue plastic lined basket is a mystery). Food is average quality but massively over priced as usual (~$45 for breakfast!!). Housekeeping was patchy too. No replacement of tea bags over a 4 night stay and had yo call twice for replacements, same with milk and water and the bun was only emptied on the last night after overflowing and I had to leave bottles on the floor. Gym is ok but a bit of missing equipment and no floor mats. Pool is only a plunge pool - no laps here.

This place is fantastic! It's a little old but that only adds to the heritage and history it has to offer. The main event hall is perfect for small wedding hosting 120 comfortably (sat down with round tables), the restaurant is superb to say the least and it's in the heart of the city so it's perfect if you're into people watching.

This was my second visit to the Duxton. Stayed up on the C-level suites for the night. Beautiful clean large room overlooking the Swan River and surrounding Perth skyline. Spectacular! The all you can eat and drink for two hours in the evening and breakfast in the morning was excellent value. A very pleasant stay starting from the check-in (Alex behind the counter very professional, efficient but extremely friendly, like all of the staff) Hotel in a very lovely quiet area of Perth. Will definitely be back for another stay soon.

My mother and I took advantage of the luxury package for an overnight break here, and we had a lovely time. The staff were so nice, and the room and amenities met our expectations. We enjoyed the use of the club lounge, and the tappas filled us up nicely. We look forward to coming back again.

Staff Abby was very welcoming, smiley and obliging when we checked in. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. The river view was nice and would have been nicer if it was not blocked by a wall in the middle of the glass window. The walls of the room were a bit thin as we could hear the family with kids next door when we were trying to get more sleep. Fortunately they quietened down after 10pm. We would still consider returning for the service, comfort and location. We did not have a chance to see Abby after the check-in night. Thank you Abby! The breakfast buffet would have been better if salad/veggies and a choice of lean protein (e.g. grilled chicken breast) are provided, for a more balanced meal.

  • 1/5 Gerry B. 2 years ago on Google
it was a good stay but the $200 bond which they take out for incidentals (they do not tell you about this at the time of booking by the way, which I am not happy about) was actually taken out from my account instead of being refunded. It will now take 5 to 7 working days to go back into my account. So not happy. This may lead to my account going into debit and so incur additional bank charges. This is not satisfactory and has spoiled what would have otherwise been an enjoyable stay.

Beautiful room, pool area and buffet breakfast. Location is great, and most staff very friendly and helpful. Lost stars on cleanliness, dust everywhere, the bathroom floor wasn't mopped and a lot of the surfaces hadn't been wiped down(water/cup rings evident)

bathroom had a little bit of mould on the roof, and the water would leak out the bottom of the door and flood the bathroom floor. besides that and our door key working maybe 50% of the time, we had a great stay. courteous staff, nice smelling reception and a great deal on the room. would most likely go back if the same deal was offered again.

Old world service, amazing, friendly, attentive, fast. Recommend for that luxury experience. Rooms were a bit old but all the furnishings are top quality. Recommend the club suites if you can afford them, the view of sunset from the club bar was amazing.

The staff are amazing and a nice quiet relaxed atmosphere. The room service food is not worth having pretty average.we will be staying again. The person that greeted us on arrival was amazing such a nice fella throughout our stay.

Very nice clean hotel, good size rooms with air con and good size TV. The breakfast buffet was amazing, the maple syrup on the pancakes was delicious 😋. The swimming pool is not heated as it's outside, so unless it is crazy Hot outside then you will have to be brave. My only criticism is the charge for parking at the hotel, eg the valet parking wasn't included with the room charge.. I know that breakfast etc sometimes are not included, however charging to park at the hotel? How do you get to even build a hotel with no car parking for free for your guests?

Wow what can I say. Duxton is one of the greatest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Not cause of the amazing luxury scent it brings but more of the amazing customer service they provide. I’ve been around the world and Duxton is definitely in my top 5 best hotels. Thank you so much 😊

Loved our experience at the Duxton. The customer service experience was incredible. Managed to check in early with our 4 boys. The staff are friendly, polite, welcoming and helpful. The river views are fab. Our food was exceptional at breakfast. We've stayed in all the big hotels in Perth and this is truly one of the best. Old school Decor, but old school values. Nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend!
