Excellent little walk to the tunnel. Highly recommend using Google maps to park at "Swan View Railway Heritage Hub" as the trail to the tunnel is directly left to the Carpark. Even on sweltering hot summers day it was damp in some parts of the tunnel, recommend shoes you don't mind getting a bit dirty. Also note the the trail there is okay for bigger-wheeled baby carriers/wheelchairs but the tunnel itself has chunky ballast rock. Didn't see any ghosts! Made our own (:

Opened in 1895, once a railway tunnel now an interesting site and walk way of historical significance. The history of this place is dotted with tragedy, the design of the tunnel didn't allow for good ventilation. The tracks are gone these days and the only traffic is foot and bicycles. Be aware after rain the floor will be more than just damp, appropriate footwear is highly recommended.

Nice historical railway tunnel. Long, wet and dark. Not suitable in rainy season. However, amazing experience and nice adventurer to climb up the hill above the tunnel to view city of Perth and the eagle rocks. Watch your steps. Needs lights (mobile or torch). It is 2.2 km far from the John Forrest picnic area car park and 1.2 km from the waterfall of John Forrest National Park. However it just few hundred meters from the cross of Swan view Rd with Morrison road (west side of the tunnel). No facilities nearby;unless you go to the picnic area.

Fabulous old historical railway tunnel opened in 1895 and now a easy walk trail. About a 300 metre tunnel to walk through that provides some welcome shade during the hot Perth summers. No convenient seating along the long walk trail or bins that might be a good idea. Snakes in the area on hot days.

Only 700m from the parking lot. Easily marked trails and info signs at the other end of the tunnel.

First time visiting the Swan View Tunnel and I was kind of scared going inside because it was so dark and it felt like we kept walking and walking and the tunnel seemed never ending! ๐Ÿ˜‚ But it was soooo fun!! And definitely worth a visit with friends and family especially if you feel like scaring someone a bit lol ๐Ÿ˜‚

Nice flat walk to get to this historic tunnel which has informative signage along the way. It is quite dark and has stones on the ground so if you are not steady footed maybe bring a torch. I do recommend a visit.

This was a truly amazing experience we chose to go in the night as we read that it was haunted, we had a couple of kangaroos following us which was a bit creepy,we had such an amazing time although we didn't witness and ghosts at 2am we did come across another group braving the ghosts as well, I definitely can't wait to go again in the day time so I can have a good look at the rock walls we were walking between. While we were walking to the tunnel

It's a good walking trail and exercise. Recommended for kids, friends, families, and relatives. Good place to visit and enough parking spaces surrounding.

Just a short walk from the car park, interesting to read about the history, at the end of the tunnel.

Great short walk and history lesson to take your interstate or international visitors. Take a torch and beware of water in the tunnel. Recommend closed walking shoes.

A rare piece of historical engineering surviving in the Perth hills. Easy walk from Swan View Rd. For best effect, do it at night.

Great spot, remember to take a torch. Then keep walking up the old train line and see the waterfalls and the swimming pool dam further along. A great day out.

Awesome hike trail like no other in perth. Bring a good torch if youโ€™re afraid of the dark! The tunnel is a great historical spot with plenty of signage around with history and info and the walk trails that go through the tunnel connect up with many other great hikes in the john forrest national park. Perfect for a family picnic.

Walk, run, cycle along bushland just minutes from Midland, Perth, WA; Then carefully pass along a spooky old railway tunnel in darkness.

Great place for friend and family for a unique experience. Good to know the history of WA rail way and roads development.

If you are after peace and quiet on a nice bushwalk than this, isnโ€™t the place for you, if you love watching planes, go overhead so loud, you canโ€™t even have a conversation with the person next to you then this is the place. Planes are flying overhead at about 1000 feet so loud every five minutes at least. Waste of time coming out here

A great walk and interesting history lesson. Definately worth a visit. Lots of fun for the adults and kids, and beautiful bushland to explore. Take a torch with you for the tunnel, and keep your eyes peeled for kangaroos and other wildlife in the surrounding bushland.

This Refers to the rail tunnel reserve top of Morrison road. This is a fantastic place for walk in an Australian bush setting. There's history (written up on large boards with pictures as well), views, picnic areas, a stream in winter This walk is very popular with families with kids, casual bike riders and tourists as it is so close to Midland The main railway path is quite level, wide and in great condition. It's very suitable for walking, riding most kind of bikes( you don't need a mountain bike, but note that the tunnel for is very rough, many people walkl their bikes through it). You could probably push a wheel chair along much of the track if you were keen. I think this track is safe for most ages and fitness levels. It is on the side of a hill so, As with all nature walks if you have kids you need to be aware of the drop off at some points along the walk, but this should present little problem for most. It would be hard to get lost, If you want more challenge you can follow any of the side tracks to get more variance in elevation and length Finally, there's a reasonable amount of parking at the start point.

A very easy walk for all ages, young and old. No dogs allowed as it is within the john Forrest national park, there are toilet facilities at the carpark and a water refill station, the walking trail itself is very well maintained, alot of amazing photo opportunities and wildflowers are abundant. The tunnel is an icon of the hills that I personally found very beautiful and interesting. There is also a few waterfalls and a swimming hole just a little further up the path ๐Ÿค™

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ One of the many fantastic waterfalls in the Perth metropolitan area. An easy walk from the carpark at the top of Morrison Rd (intersection with Swan View Rd), and you get to walk through the train tunnel on the way as well.
