Do not Change it if it Works. The simple Sunday roast. USED to be excellent here. A roast served on a plate with a glass of wine. Just like grandma used to do it. Now, for something new. A Sunday Roast Tray. Served on a tray with a rounded base. So it spins around when you try to catch your roast. Next, there is a newspaper liner on the tray that absorbs the gravy. Yes, pieces of it end up being eaten with your meal! And the food gets cold very quickly due to it being spread out across the tray. Same quality meal as before, but just gone off the rails. How I miss grandma's Sunday roast!

Went for Christmas lunch. Overcrowded. Food was substandard. No table service for drinks. Had to remind staff that we paid extra for prawns. Kids Christmas gifts a joke. Appalling effort all around. Definitely won’t be back. Ruined Christmas lunch.

Attended the Christmas lunch at the Stirling arms. We had 3 people with dietary requirements which were arranged months prior. We were promised gluten free/coeliac safe meals that were offered as per their advertised event but was given one plate that wasn’t even on the menu and was told that’s all I was able to have. Paid full buffet price for a plate of food I didn’t even order or discussed prior on. Most of The food was inedible, or dry There was no Christmas ham Just some tough pork and turkey. The deserts was awful, and most wasn’t even available to even try or they ran out. We were the first lunch sitting as well. Some items advertised to be included were not served, some were undercooked, some were way over cooked. Other guests were commenting on how disappointed they were as well, not just our own table. It was Not worth the money or effort for us on such a special day. Next year we will go back to catering ourselves. We have requested refunds. UPDATE: Like all their responses to any negative reviews they have received, it is met with lies, and aggression. This just shows the type of people managing this venue. Unable to hear anything negative or make up lies to back themselves up and to make the “negative” review look fabricated. Absolutely horrendous accountability and “customer service”. As soon as someone says how they were treated they are faced with condescending and Arrogant replies.

We had a really bad experience as we waited for ages to get served and to get our drinks while it wasn’t busy, then we got the wrong Cocktail twice, as well as the wrong food. All we got was a mild apology. The espresso martini was way too sweet and at the end we had a cockroach on our food so we couldn’t eat it anymore :( won’t come here again..

In a great spot. Bar service was horrifically crowded often waiting upwards of 10-15 minutes just to get to the bar. Catered food was obviously quite budget but well presented nonetheless. Staff were very diligent in keeping on top of abandoned glasses. Seems like a fun place for the younger generation to party. Avoid if you’re looking for a relaxed sit-down and drinks. The hotel area proper was described to me as “pretty nice”. Edit: Management responded favourably to the review and respectful accepting criticism, and offering some explanation. (Review changed from 3/5 to 4/5 on this basis)

DO NOT RECOMMEND. Disgusting treatment of customers. My husband had booked and paid for a room for the night. After travelling all day and absolutely exhausted (and the airline had just lost his bag) he arrived at The Stirling Arms to be told “we can see the booking but it’s been cancelled and we are booked out.” My husband had booking confirmation (with a confirmation number), which he showed to reception. The man behind the desk could see the distress my husband was now in, no where to sleep at 9pm at night and no bag and offered no further assistance. My husband did ask him about other hotels which at first he said he didn’t know of?? The man at reception then called another hotel and told my husband “yeah they’ve got a room available but it’s the most expensive and it will be $250” No offer of a refund of the money my husband had ALREADY paid, “it’s not our system” was the response to that. He didn’t offer to call a taxi or help any further. Extremely poor customer service. The man behind the desk at reception was more than happy to highlight the fact that it wasn’t his fault but refused to be of any real assistance. Hopefully this review can deter people from having to deal with the same horrible customer service, stay somewhere else.

The outdoor area is pleasant and has a good vibe. Tonight there was a guitarist singing songs from the 70s. There was private function in the main bar. The interior of the hotel including the toilets is old and tired and needs a refurbishment as a matter of priority. The food coming out of the kitchen is of good quality and well presented. It's a popular place on Friday night and clearly a lot of people come straight from work to enjoy the music in the outdoor area.

Recently had my wedding at the Stirling Arms & Bec, our event manager, was absolutely amazing. Made the whole process easy, listened to what we were after & it all ran smoothly. Very efficient. Food was amazing, everyone had the best time. Our main barman (didn't catch his name unfortunately) was awesome. He was there from start to finish & was a pleasure to deal with. Very friendly & professional. Definitely recommend him at events. Would definitely plan another event there. Thanks Bec & staff 😊

Called into the Stiring Arms after a Dockers game at Optus..Sunday roast was absolutely awesome, every mouthful was a tasty morsel! Melt in the mouth roast beef and pork, with crackling that crackled, Yorkshire pud and roasted veges was definitely more than we expected. For $25 it was definitely worth it!

Had dinner here a few nights ago. There were 11 adults and 2 children. The meal was nice and we did enjoy it and it was value for money (Wednesday special). Unfortunately it seemed they were understaffed. I felt sorry for the young man looking after our table. Two of our party had to send their meals back because the meat wasn't cooked how ordered (one of them took 3 times to get it right). So the rest of us had finished by the time they started theirs. Also one had to change chips to mash (dietary requirement) but still charged the extra for mash. Also told no frozen cocktails were available :( I would like to give it another go as sometimes things are beyond control.

Had my 21st birthday in the lounge bar. Amazing food, drinks and service. The bar was very busy on the public side but they always strived to serve our ‘exclusive’ event first which was much appreciated. Bonus having the train line over the road.👌🏼

The steak was very fatty and not what it said on the menu. Chicken tenders were OK but a bit bland. Wine was lovely, and the place itself was nice.

Went to see a band last night. Some tables at the back would have been nice. We left early because there was nowhere to sit. Also wasn't able to get a whiskey sour. Bar staff advised only new York sour with bourbon was available. They couldn't swap the bourbon for whiskey! Food was okay and served promptly with a smile.

Food was a bit of a let down unless you ordered steak which was nice. My "pasta of the day" was really tasteless sadly, cream hadn't been reduced or flavoured, couldn't finish it even though I bought the small size. Orders I noticed were stuffed up not just on our table but a few around us. $7 for a 'side' of onion rings gives you two super fatty overly battered rings. See photo. We added garlic prawns and squid to one of the steaks and that arrived at the table in a bowl by itself WITHOUT the steak which came 15 minutes later! At the ten minute mark we sent the seafood back to be kept warm but they didn't return it with the steak! Very funny. Seemed simple but obviously not LOL Tried to order a nice bottle of bubbles as it was a special occasion but they were out of everything but the cheap stuff. Good way to save money I suppose... But, I always like to say something nice... The venue was large, lovely atmosphere and the staff were really friendly even though they were under the pump. Keep trying!

We had our engagement party in the 1852 Lounge Room and we honestly could not fault The Stirling Arms at all! Bec, the events manager, made the whole experience so stress free and enjoyable, and it was a pleasure to work with her. The food was delicious and the staff that served us on the night were amazing. Definitely recommend!

Mid-week night out. Nice meal. My wife and I both had the Sirloin steak special with seafood topper. Tasty and reasonable value given current prices elsewhere. Pub looked under staffed as glasses and jugs were piled up on the bar. Plenty of patrons so can't be all bad.

Went to a Faulty Towers dinner. It was hilarious and the food and beverages package were well above similar shows I've attended elsewhere. Was absolutely delightful 3 course gourmet meal and quality bottled wines. Would love to included pics, but as there are many "strangers" in them it's probably not appropriate.

Had dinner and drinks with family in the beer garden. Nice atmosphere, food was good & staff very friendly. Music was playing but not loud so we could hold a conversation without shouting. Overall a good night.

I was craving a quality roast dinner. The portion was huge with 2 good slabs of meat (beef and pork). It was lacking some fresh green veg options for me. There were Brussels sprouts, but they weren't cooked to my liking. The cauliflower cheese was delicious, though. Sometimes, less is more, and when it comes to Yorkshire puddings, this definitely applies. The Yorkshire pudding they served was huge, but it lacked the texture and flavour I like. Overall, it is great for a good feed if that is what you are chasing. If you prefer quality over quantity, there are others out there that might be better.

Along with 60 club members we attended our AGM and awards night. Complimentary microphone was supplied. We all enjoyed a fabulous buffet dinner. More food than we could eat. All hot and tasty. Impeccable service. Cheap bar prices. Definitely recommend The Stirling Arms to individuals and club groups.

The Stirling Arms Hotel is the oldest continually licensed hotel in the historic town of Guildford, Western Australia. Just thought I would share a cool fact before my review. Stayed overnight a few times due to work commitments in Perth. Great location and close to public transport. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Rooms are always tidy, and good value for money. Great atmosphere, food is great. Absolutely no complaints what so ever. Will be definitely staying again.

Not worth the visit I had a couple of days back.Had ordered food from Menu log which showed as delivered. However to my good luck someone stole the food. There was no reception, only one person at the bar counter near the pub who definitely has a care free attitude as the staff did not even bother to check on the cameras,if they have one.You need to punch in a code to enter the main entrance to access the rooms.Delivery guy was told to leave it there it self on the floor after entering.Either there is a breach of security or a laid back attitude or not sure what kind of people stay there.Had come to Perth for a week but ran off from Stirling Arms the next day itself.

Weekly steak special was not worth it. It wasn't very busy and we waited 40 minutes for food to come out. When food came out, it was clearly microwaved, plate was very hot, rocket salad was wiltered and chips were dry and soggy. We ordered 2 scotch fillets, one came out as sirloin and was undercooked (asked for medium rare), not scotch fillet as paid for.

Had our Christmas function here - couldn’t recommend this place more! Excellent food, brilliant service, beautifully decorated. Guests were very happy and the planning process was a breeze!

Went here for a private function and was pleasantly surprised as I hadn't been here for about 30 years. Bar service was friendly and quick. Food was tasty although by the time we got to it the close by vultures had eaten most of it! Venue was clean and well set out. Will go back in nicer weather to see the outdoor area and have a meal.

Fantastic stay here. Stayed in a lovely room with all mod cons that had recently been renovated. Lovely bathroom. Huge Kingsize bed with very comfortable pillows. Food here is great try The Sterling burger served with beer batter chips. Got to give it 10 out of 10. All the food here was very nice and great prices. Service was good and very friendly staff.

Family of four last Wednesday night for our first visit and was pleasantly surprised. Used 'Frequent Values' $25 off the total bill offer. Sirloin steak night so ordered two and kids had pasta of the day. Great steaks and good pasta. All up with drinks only charged $85.05. Will visit again as friendly waitress recommended burger night.

Sunday roast was delicious and amazing value. Loved the live music. Only small downfall is the outside chairs are metal so become a bit cold with limited heating available (all tables with wall heaters were already taken). Otherwise we had a very enjoyable night and service was prompt.

If you don't mind pub noise, pretty good. Food service quick, interesting and tasty, not just boring steak and chips. Upper level room very well appointed and comfortable. Just managed to blot out pub music. Recommended for proximity to airport, only 10 minutes or so away

We just had a wonderful nights stay here. We arrived on a flight late, but the after hours security entry was very easy and we arrived to find the room ready for us with blinds pulled and air con on. Fantastic huge room and the most comfy bed with crisp linens. The huge white fluffy towels and the best shower we’ve ever had, in a beautiful marble bathroom. What more could you ask for? Actually, some cookies would have been lovely to go with my cuppa

Did not stay in accommodation - rather went for an event, if you enjoy entertainment and good service - I would recommend this place. Friendly staff is such a simple way to make a memorable and wonderful moment. Went for the Drag brunch - first time I have ever booked or paid for some form of entertainment, the friendly staff was the brilliant addition to the amazing drag show.

My first visit to the Stirling Arms was a good one. After living in Perth for 60 years and never been to this hotel. That is my age. Life begins at 60 & I feel 10 years younger. Perth has got so many places to visit & I find Guildford in the main street with all those trees and the heritage buildings makes it a specials place. I found sitting in the bear garden eating a hamburger & chips was a good environment around. Then listening to a band that was playing called Thirsty Merc & they back up band was excellent as well.

  • 3/5 Alex K. 1 year ago on Google
Good food nice staff reasonable prices. But we really wanted to watch the state of origin, but there was no sound until the band finished with 5 minutes to go. I will definitely go back, but maybe not to watch sports on the big screens.

Called into the Stirling Arms on Saturday for a quick lunch and beer. The share food and prices were brilliant and the customer service was outstanding. To the female staff member with the glasses on thank you so much for your generous hospitality and wonderful customer service. We will definitely be back to visit. 😀

Dining experience was ok. Burger came half cooked but they replaced it with another burger meal which was ok. Lovely staff which I'd why we waited for the replacement meal. 80s retro night had a very good band with 4 female vocalists amd a great female saxophonist, but the sound engineer has probably already lost his hearing as the music was so loud it was guaranteed to give everyone a hearing impairment. Not sure why they thought a retro music night with everyone over at least 45+ would need music volume to compete with a teenage rock concert, but it was ridiculously high n killed it a bit for us.

Took over half an hour from ordering drinks to getting them. Ordered the steak burger and it tasted fishy 🤢 couldn't finish it and no staff around to let know about the issue Not a big enough bar space for the venue on a busy night. Have had better experiences

  • 5/5 Ross C. 1 year ago on Google
Was a last minute booking but so glad the rush ended here! The bed and room - wow. Best night sleep ever! Great staff. Very clean room and well presented. I'd say more but it would mean on my next visit to Perth the chances of getting back in this awesome place might be reduced. Beautifully restored heritage building.

Went for a work function. Food was good, one of the mains was not what was advertised and there were only 2 bar staff with 3 work functions, and general customers too. I think that's just a bit of bad planning on their part. My friends ordered some cocktails about an hour and a half in just to be told that because there was only two staff on, they couldn't make them anymore. All in all, was good fun but there is room for improvement 🙂

Edited: There's a huge sign advertising $6 pints of 'running with thieves' lager so I ordered one and was charged $10... figured I'd ordered the wrong beer 'til I checked the sign on the way out... turned out I ordered the right beer but didn't know I had to download the app... see the pub's reply below which is an impressively good response to my original review. And they have a very nice beer garden, too!

A friend had a Sixtieth Birthday party here recently. The venue was a lot more than I expected. Very nice room, great menu choices with short wait times. Nice selection of drinks. Pricing is pretty standard for a pub. Ample parking. Has a nice front bar and well stocked drive thru.

  • 4/5 Downunder R. 8 months ago on Google
First time visit, just to test the waters as they say. From the outside, not as flashy as it's neighbour down the road. The Stirling has obviously had a recent refit. Warm and welcoming on a rainy day. It's clean and comfy. Though I seldom indulge myself, nowadays. I was gratified to see the Beer Garden out front caters to Smokers. And though it was noisy with a Train level crossing just fifty meters away. This place is a Boon to Aviaphiles, since the landing approach to Perth Airport is just East of the front door. Noise might have been an issue forty years ago. But with Aircraft engines as they are, you'll hardly notice.

A big wow factor... Amazing staff and food. Amazing what a bit of money spent on an Old place can make such a difference. Well done to the owners.
