Food was acceptable but not worth the outrageous cost in comparison to other equivalent venues. I would have thought the dining experience and service would have been excellent given the cost to the customer. Unfortunately this was not the case. It took an hour and a half for our mains to arrive, one of the two dishes was incorrect. Thankfully it took another 10 minutes to cook up the correct dish which makes me question why it took an hour and a half in the first instance. The venue wasn't particularly busy when we went and there was no check in from wait staff to see if we wanted anymore drinks while we waited. As an aside we decided to sit outside on a hot muggy day as they wouldn't turn air-conditioning on inside as the doors were open. I don't understand how this place has such high ratings. Food was average, service was poor, cost was exorbitant. Won't be going there again.

Beautiful location. Beautiful food. Lovely staff! Peppercorn sauce with steak was delicious but not enough on the plate. Bruschetta lovely, but small. Menu quite small. Mostly seafood dishes. No scallops on the menu :( Constructive feedback: When you lose an order (for whatever reason) just tell us that it will be 10 minutes instead of pretending like it was already on its way, rushing out a steak in 2 minutes, that had barely seen heat and trying to cover it up. That way I wouldn’t have had to send it back blue and I wouldn’t have had to eat alone in front of my date who had finished their pasta already.

I came here twice in one week with my wife and this is our new favourite restaurant now. The food is excellent, so tasty and very well presented a little pricy but worth every dollar. The staff are very attentive and friendly which we really like. A very interesting wine selection that I can't complain about. The view is spectacular and for a lazy Saturday afternoon relaxing by the waters edge is just perfect.

I've been here a couple of times now and both dinners were so fresh, sizable proportions and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The specials were so beautifully offered and the dishes presented very well.... when you order the marinara that says "packed with seafood" or something like that, they're not kidding. Very authentic and fresh!!! Love this place

Great fine we walk past it most weeks on our walk in our new neighbourhood of 15 months and have always wanted to try it.. worth the wait . Busy friendly and food was delicious

Went to celebrate a birthday at this Italian fine dining restaurant situated right on the waterfront. Very nice views to be seated outside. Service was good. The entrees were not that pleasant but the mains are very good portions and very tasty. I would highly recommend the snapper with mashed potatoes and eggplant and the seafood marinara was amazing. The only downfall is they don't have a kid's menu and no high chairs available either. But overall a nice family outing.

Can't fault the location or the view including the venue. The staff were all over the place, attending to the big tables, so our table of 3 was placed on the back burner so to speak, was hard to get staffs attention when we wanted to order more drinks. The food was luke warm. I will say tasty tho. Took us 3 attempts from 3 different staff to get our bill. All in all i think I've been there done that, give it a go there are good reviews, maybe we just choose the wrong night for a small group.

Absolutely loved the staff, (tania), atmosphere was excellent, location is fantastic. Food was 10 out of 10 Presentation was 10 out of 10 Taste of food 10 out of 10. Wine selection q0 out of 10 Food was a little pricey, but this was reflected in the quality. Cant wait to go back

We came across this little gem walking past, the ambience and location is perfect for a romantic dinner. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We were both looking for a seafood type pasta and were disappointed when it wasn’t on the menu, which we found hard to find something we wanted but we had already committed and the view was stunning. We got the steak and the chicken. I tried my friends steak it had a nice char on the outside which was lovely and the beetroot purée went well with it. The sauce on the chicken was creamy and incredibly tasty I would have liked more, the carrots and beans were cooked perfectly. The chicken was ok, a little on the dry side and it was a small half chicken and really overpriced for what it was, it was something I could have made at home. But it was a lovely experience with friendly staff, pity about the menu.

Location and service was great, food below average for the price. Had dinner here 12 months ago for New Years and loved the food so decided to go again this new years. The prices are high, especially for “casual dining” but for a special occasion its fine. The food came out quickly and had no flavour which reflects it was rushed out with no care or it was reheated. Id say it was most likely rushed out due to the busy night ahead. Just a bit disappointed that the standards have dropped.

Had Christmas Lunch here with friends for the second time. Food & Atmosphere was fantastic however the service was not the same as last year.

Our wedding anniversary dinner here was amazing! The view was great, and the food was just like in Italy – so good! I asked the chef to surprise us, and they really did – every dish was awesome. We even ordered more because it was that tasty. Eating outside here is like being in a romance movie. Big thanks to the chef and the wait staff for making our night so special. Loved it! My husband and I had lunch here today for the first time and were very impressed. The restaurant and outdoor area is simple and elegant and has a warm, friendly, unpretentious feel. Service was perfect, giving us time to enjoy our meal in a relaxed way but staff were always attentive, professional and made us feel very welcome. The food was amazing, with perfect portion sizes that meant we could enjoy 2 courses and share a dessert. We were celebrating so weren't conscious of what we paid, but when we paid our bill we felt we had certainly had value for money. We will definitely return and if we have our chadults with us will probably take advantage of the special 2 course lunch menu on offer :)

Romantic candlelit dinner for 2 looking over the river at the Gioia Italian restaurant. The best way to celebrate our anniversary! They organised a table last minute and made us very welcome! Friendly attentive staff. Had a wonderful meal beautifully cooked and absolutely delicious! Thanks for making our anniversary so brilliant!

Went there for a small dinner with friends after our wedding. We had the set menu which has a really good range of options. The service is amazing with the staff always close at hand, including the owner which made the experience extra special. The amazing views of the river and the closeby park make it a great spot for a romantic cozy dinner. The pastas were all exceptionally full of flavour including for me the squid ink. Thank you for making our evening special.

Service, location and quality of food was amazing! Marinara was full of fresh seafood and the sauce was flavourful, and pasta cooked al dente. On Friday’s they have a oyster shucker from 12pm onwards shucking fresh oysters for $2.50 which were delicious. Great experience afternoon will definitely be back 😊

Beautiful riverview, great ambience quiet and lovely, staffs were friendly. Food was not too bad for the price, but not among the best in similar restaurants we have tried. Our favorite is the dessert though.

Have always had a great experience while visiting Gioia on the River . The Food is sensational and there is a great selection of red wine and cocktails. The service has always been great , when I have been also.

We have been to Gioia on the River previously for lunch and always had a lovely time. Our experience this weekend for a birthday celebration with friends for dinner was exceptional. Our friends were super impressed by the service, friendly staff, food quality and overall atmosphere. Gioia on the River never fails to impress.

We dined at Goia on the River last evening 14/8/21. After failing to confirm our booking, the wonderful Sue kindly accommodated our family of 7. We were then attentively looked after by the delightful Chloe, whose service could not be faulted. The food was delicious - in particular the Red Emperor wing entree. It was a wonderful evening, we will visit and again and also highly recommend this restaurant!

Chose this restaurant for a birthday celebration, and was not disappointed. Could not fault the location, food or service. Andrea and his staff are so friendly and accommodating, and our our meal was excellent. The birthday boy had the calamari entree, and his Pollo al Marsala was superb. My "Vitello" - veal scaloppini was just sooo tender!!! and the Affogato was a perfect finish. Wine selection is amazing - something for everyone's taste. Will definitely be returning and hope to enjoy their outdoor table and view in the coming months. Highly recommend!!!

The staff were friendly and passionate about the food giving great recommendations. We had mostly specials, the scallops were beautiful and plump+juicy, the gnocchi was so delicate, the mushroom dish was nutty and rich, the goat was tender and flavoursome and the skin on red emperor was perfectly tender. Very high marks and large portion sizes. Fine dining in a nice location.
